Ater
Ater (अटेर) or Atair (अटैर) is a town, 22 km from Bhind, in Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh. It is lacated in north-west of Bhind adjoining Morena district.
Pachaira War
The ancestor of Bamraulis Jagdeo Singh had come from Agra and stayed at Bhind which was ruled by Aniruddh Singh Bhadauria (1730-1741). There was war between Bamraulias and Bhadauria rulers at place called Pach'hara in which Bhadauria was defeated. This war was fought on bhado sudi 10 friday vikram samvat 1794 (1737 AD). 12000 soldiers of Bhadaurias and 7000 soldiers of Jats took part in this war. Bhim Singh captured 11 elephants, nishans of nagaras, big canons and kept them at Chitora, Karwas, Gohad etc places in his state.[1] In 1739 AD Peshwa accepted the rights of Rana rulers on Gohad. The Ranas kept their capital at Pach'hara for some time and later shifted the capital to Gohad. The brother of Gohad ruler Jagdeo Singh constructed a fort here in samvat 1680 (1623 AD). [4]
After the Pachaira war there was no powerful ruler left on the south of Chambal River who could compete with Raja Bhim Singh.[5]
Fort of Ater
A beautiful fort near Ater village, 22 km from Bhind, was built by the Bhadauria Jat kings Badan Singh, Maha Singh and Bakhat Singh in 1664-1668. The fort is situated on the banks of the Chambal River.[6]
सुजस प्रबंध में राजा भीम सिंह का वर्णन
सुजस प्रबंध में छठे छंद से 68 वें छंद तक राजा भीम सिंह राणा के युद्धों का विशद वर्णन किया है.
16 वें छंद में, इसमें बड़े विस्तार के साथ, अनिरुद्ध या अनुरुद्ध (अटेर का शासक), सिरजा (महादजी सिंधिया) आदि मराठा सरदारों के साथ राजा भीमसिंह राणा के भीषण संग्राम का वर्णन है. कवि राजा भीमसिंह और उनके सैनिकों को सूर्य के प्रकाश के समान और शत्रु सेना को अंधकार के समान बताता है. गोहद राजा भीम सिंह राणा ने अनुरुद्ध (अटेर का शासक) के दल पर जीत प्राप्त की. फलतः संसार में उनका यश असीम होकर स्थापित हुआ. [7] १६ वें छंद में, राजा भीमसिंह राणा के भावसिंह तथा मदन सिंह नामक दो सरदारों के रण कौशल का भी वर्णन किया गया है.
