About

Its original name was Sathiāla. Sathiala is said to have been blessed by visits of three of the Sikh Gurus: Guru Nanak, Guru Hargobind and Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Previously known as "Mughalani", it was renamed "Sethi-aala" to honor a Sikh Jat devotee, Sethi, who cared for Guru Nanak and his companions. Later the name was changed to Sathiala.

During the Sikh Confederacy, Sathiala was located in the territory of the Sikh Principality Ahluvalia Misl. In 1808 Ahluvalias Misl and another Sikh Principality, Ramgarhias Misl, were involved in a bloody conflict known as "The Battle of Sathiala."
