V. S. Agrawala[1] mentions Vishayas known to Panini which includes - Tarkshyayana (तार्क्ष्यायण), under Aishukari Gana (ऐषुकारि गण) (IV.2.54).

In Mahabharata

Tarkshya (तार्क्ष्य) is mentioned in Mahabharata (I.59.39), (II.48.14)

Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 59 gives Genealogy of Danavas, Gandharvas, Apsaras, Yakshas, Rakshasas. Tarkshya is mentioned as son of Vinata in verse (I.59.39)...."And the sons of Vinata - were Tarkshya and Arishtanemi, and Garuda and Aruna, and Aruni and Varuni." [2]


Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 48 describes Kings who presented tributes to Yudhishthira. Tarkshya figures in the tribute list in verse Mahabharata (II.48.14). [3]
