Yakrilloma (यकृल्लोम) was a janapada mentioned by Panini in Gaṇa-pāṭha (IV.2.110) and in Mahabharata (IV.5.4) (VI.10.44).

Yakrilloman (यकृल्लोमन), also Sakrilloma (सकृल्लोमन), is mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi under Paladyadi (पलद्यादि) (4.5.110) group.[2]

History

V. S. Agrawala[3] writes that Gaṇa-pāṭha of Panini refers to janapada Yakṛil-loman (IV.2.110) = mentioned in Bhishmaparva (9.46) and Virataparva (5.4), cooresponding to the region between Etawah in the north, Jalaun and Orai in the south, and Kalpi in the east.


Sandhya Jain[4] has listed Yakrilloma (यकृल लॊम) in Mahabharata Tribes with unclear position in Kurukshetra War: - Mentioned in Virata Parva (IV.5.4) in Matsya Kingdom. Hail from a region between Dasharna in the south and Panchala in the north, near Surasena, through which Pandavas passed to the country of Matsya. Also is mentioned in Mahabharata 'geography' (VI. 10.44).

Virata Parva, Mahabharata/ Book IV Chapter 5 mentions location of Yakrilloman (यकृल्लॊमाञ) people in verse (IV.5.4) [5]...The Pandavas arriving at the dominions of Virata....proceeded in the direction of the river Yamuna....they passed through Yakrilloma and Surasena, leaving behind, on their right, the country of the Panchalas, and on their left, that of the Dasharnas....


Bhisma Parva, Mahabharata/Book VI Chapter 10 ...Describes geography and provinces of Bharatavarsha. The province of Yakrilloman (यकृल्लॊमाञ) people is mentioned in verse (VI.10.44) [6] ...Yakril-loman along with Anga, Vanga, Kalinga etc.

यकृल्लोम

यकृल्लोम (AS, p.767): महाभारत के अनुसार यह देश शूरसेन (मथुरा) और मत्स्य (अलवर-जयपुर) के निकट स्थित था. विराटनगर (मत्स्य) जाते समय पांडव, यमुना के दक्षिण तट पर चलते हुए दशार्ण (मालवा) से उत्तर पंचाल से दक्षिण एवं यकृल्लोम और शूरसेन-प्रदेश के बीच होते वहां पहुंचे थे--'ततस्ते दक्षिणं तीरम अन्वगच्छन पदातयः। उत्तरेण दशार्णांस्ते पाञ्चालान दक्षिणेन च। अन्तरेण यकृल्लॊमाञ शूरसेनांश च पाण्डवाः, लुब्धा ब्रुवाणा मत्स्यस्य विषयं प्राविशन् वनात्' 5,2-3-4. यकृल्लोम मथुरा और जयपुर के बीच के भू भाग में स्थित रहा होगा. इस नाम का शाब्दिक अर्थ (यकृत्-लोम) बड़ा विचित्र सा जान पड़ता है. संभवत: यह शब्द किसी संस्कृतेतर भाषा के नाम का संस्कृत रूप है.[7]
