In today's day and age, reality is sometimes very different than what it appears to people sitting behind the computer screens and reading news.
It's a world of Instant Gratification. Everyone needs money, luxuries, power and authority Right Now!
I remember in one of the elections a few years back, I was out in the field talking to people in Bhiwani. What I am writing here was a general concensus of how people would normally react:-
Bhai haade kaam kiss ne kiye the?
Bansi ne...
bijli, paani, road, school, haspataal ...saari cheej kaun laaya tha?
Bansi Lal
toe tamhi maano so ki bansi lal ne saari development karaayi?
Kateyi koi shak koni...
Vote kissne geroge?
X ne, bansi ne koni geran!
Kyon Bansi aaya koni ke aade, tamhne millan?
Aaya tha..
Phir?
Bhai baat ya se...kaam toe saare usne karaye...ar ghanaa immandar aadmin se vo..kaam karane bhi jaane se...par road, bijli, school, paani...ye toe sab ke faayde karein se ne...mera akele ka ke kara diya???
kateye vote knoi dyon...mera chora 10mi fail se...gayaa tha sher issne kadde chipvaane...koni maane....nyun keh sai ki kaabliyat pe naukri laagegi...toe bhai kabliyat hondi toe kyon jaande udde
bansi na paise level arr na lene deve....ke karan uska??
The above thinking kind of sums up the reality...now if there was a messiah who can get the individual work done (read as paise khake daakhle, ya sifarish etc etc) for each person...then they are happy else not.
Kaam chori ka zamaana hai...gaon mein jawaan ladke mehnat karne ke bajaaye sharaab peete hain aur saare din taash khelte hain...even physically they are weak..pasliyaan dikhti hain ya pet nikle hue hote hain...they are abusive to women and kill time and then blame the politicians and the 'system' for their plight....
In the contemporary times, only a person who is opportunistic, who is ready to do anything (fair or not) under the sun and who turns a blind eye on right or wrong is the only person who can succeed in politics.
Jitne badde goonde paloge, utne hi badde neta hoge!
