1st of all,Haryanvi is not a language in constitution. Punjabi is official language used in Punjab. So,its not possible to have classes of Haryanvi.

Now coming to thread topic, It's common trend observed in our society. Parents wants their children to speak in Hindi or English. Parents does this for betterment their children. If one communicate in Haryanvi only there is no doubt that he/she feels odd where Hindi should be used. This happened with elders when they were young. Parents don't it to be happened with their children. Parents want their children to compete well in future.
Nowhere we can relate this thing with identity. Any language is fine. Person is identified by it's culture and moral values.Generally Haryanvi's are identifies by their nature qualities like boldness, true at heart, good mannered etc. Parents never try to take away these from childern. That's more imporatnt.

Let me say at the outset...... following are my personal views, and I intend no offence to anybody or any language or dialect.... and no matter what the arguement will not change my perception....

First of all about respect..... Yes, I respect my boli or dialect, known as Haryanavi, for second, I don't want that my childern should practice it.....
In my opinion, Haryanavi is not a language but a dialect, the normal 'BOLI' being spoken by masses in the belt of Haryana, parts of UP and parts of Rajasthan comes under this category, it does'nt have it's own script, we don't have any literature in this dialect (not that I know). So no history of the language.......
It comes out as a harsh language, when being heard..... even if two person are talking in normal tone, they seems to be quarlling...... in any office or in restaurant or cinema or anywhere you may imagine.... try to speak a few words of it and you will be the centre of ridicule.......
The so called modern songs (I am not including the traditional Raaganis) are also projecting the dialect in bad way.......

So, I want my childern to move ahead and yes if they are capable of modulating their tone to suit the occasion, then they may learn otherwise NO.

I agreed with almost all point. The quality of Haryanvi movies and songs(I am not taking about some exceptions) coming is really bad. Majority of dialogues and lyrics have double meaning One can't listen it alone. How one can encourage children to listen ???
But staya ji, I would like to say, if Haryanvi is used with soft tone it looks ok. It doesn't look that much odd if we talk softly.

Dear Deepak, I don't think there is any relationship between learning history with language. Parents along with their children used go in traditional temples(gama main mandir main aur apni jo maan ho sae). They always told stories of elders to their children. I think that's the history you are talking about.
Anyway, if you are talking about some thing else then also language doesn't matter. In many of Schools, Indian History is taught in English where as our history is in Hindi. Ramyana and Mahabharta are taught in Hindi while originally available in Sanskrit. It doesn't mean we are disrespecting Sanskrit or forgetting history. It's a change comes with time. We have to accept these changes.

I am not against Haryanvi. I respect my mother tongue and our culture. I am strong supporter of Haryanvi language But try to understand the intention of parents behind this latest trend. Nobody can allow his child to lag behind others for Haryanvi language. Our young generation have to compete with rest of world. Hindi/English are demand of future. That's what parents are realizing and forcing children to use Hindi/English for communication. Along with these if child can learn Haryanvi then it's well in good otherwise leave it. My point is simple Hindi/English are must for good future and Every parent wants to see his child successful. There is no harm in that.

I think Jaatoo is a fantastic language because it signifies boldness and upfrontness. In my humble opinion, parents should not discourage children from learning this dialect but should ensure that their children are well conversant in globally applicable language i.e., english. In short, learn jatoo but not at the cost of english.
