Egoism in Elite Jats

Once I was in conversation with a similar couple who didnt allow their ward to speak haryanvi. The lady asked me "What he will get out of Haryanavi?".

So could you please put some benefits looking at todays world of speaking haryanvi?

Ask back to that worldly wise lady ,'' Exactly the same you get out by respecting your mother/father.''

Its a folly to seek benefits from speaking mothertongue. Its mothertongue, thats enough.

How other people think or percieve jats or haryanvi speaking folks is purely their own insecurity/jealousy complex. Not the other way.

Speak your mothertongue boldly and if someone objects or feel other way, either smirk or stare back in their eyes with an expression of Shut off.

So could you please put some benefits looking at todays world of speaking haryanvi?

I feel its your and many of such Jat parents questions not of any X lady. And you are right in saying that you fail to see any benifit in speaking Haryanvi. To see any benifit first you have to come out of your prejudicies and biases. This is your mother tongue which your mother taught you. I cant understand why the same mother stop you to speak that. Wierd !! Looks like something is not right here. Is this some sort of complex or someone trying to be 'wordly wise'. I cannot even imagine speaking to my mother in Standard "Hindi" or "Urdu". We talk in what comes naturally to us. Our Haryanvi.

People feel happy when they speak in the most natural language come to them which is their mother tongue. Its your heritage and major part of your culture. You should preserve it. Some one said "destroy a language and destroy a culture". Without language you cannot preserve a culture. Thats why punjabi, Gujrati, tamils and many more fought for their language and preserved it.

Anyway you should seek benifits in your second language not in your mother tongue. Mother tongue come naturally to you and its a matter of being proud of not to feel ashamed of or to seek benifit of. See how proud Punjabis are of their language and I can see the benifit they have become a very strong community in themself depsite having three different religion and their language and culture is appreciated all over the world. Similar to our is the situation with West Punjab people. They never fought for their language and never taught it in schools despite being in majority. Now their kids feel low when they cant speak pure 'Urdu' and they blame their parents and their heritage because of that. No doubt they would finish soon unless they teach Punjabi to their kids. If you loose your language you can not carry your heritage and culture for long. I remember someone telling me very proudly in this forum that their kids dont even know Hindi leave alone Haryanvi. Is this really a matter of being proud of?? Its your individual choice but certainly nothing to be proud of. To me its just funny that someone cannot speak their mother tongue. In the education or various job application forms where they ask whats your mother tongue. I guess that person reply: Mother never taught me her tongue. And I am sure he/she won't be feeling proud that time !

Learning a different language for material and communication gains is a different thing and I dont see any problem in that. If your kids don't know Haryanvi then this haryanvi culture would not only look 'foreign' to them but would become a matter of ridicule.

Respect is commanded, not demanded. If the Jat Boss does not show any affinity or affection towards his Jat subordinates and would keep them at arms' length, the subordinates have no other option but to show their contempt and ill-will towards such a snobbish officer. Majority of the senior defence personnel, technocrats, civil servants (IAS/IPS/IFS/IRS etc.) have scant regard/affection/concern for the community fellows living in villages in abject poverty. There are very few whose hearts beat for the community. Some of them who want to pursue their carrier in politics after retirement pretend to show some feelings of brotherhood because they are in dire need of votes. Their Mem Sahabs and children do not even try to have any connection with villages as it is below their status. Even a Jat Subedar/Thanedar expects the villagers to bow to him when he visits his village chaupal , not to speak of the Colonel, Brigadier or IAS/IPS etc. There is a famous saying do unto others as you wish to be done by.

Mr VP IF YOU READ MY POST, you can see I have fully agreed with the post initiator & your views. But since I happened to experience both attitudes & that is why I submitted the facts in brief. Ofcourse, all five fingers are not equal ( applicable both sides) but majority of jat subordinates with their behaviour, donot leave jat boss in a position from where he is able to help them even if he wants to help. VP, there can be many points to counter your views but seeing your post which you have written to only counter my views just to show your inferiority complex & anger towards me, God knows the reason. My dear elite & educated jat, without knowing the person & his work and attitude towards his community, one shouldnot make a poor jat fellow as target & blame him without any reason. Every one donot wants to join politics & even if wants, his attitude at old age doesnot change. The tuth is we do talk lot about jat but do nothing, we all wether boss or subordinates, lack the required quality which we are trying to trace. Anyway dear thanks, with warm regards

Fateh Singh ji,

First of all let me clarify that my post was not at all targeted at you because going by your posts and your participation I am pretty sure by now that you are a very down to earth person and a man of the masses. I am also aware of your good intentions for doing something good for the community. So, please do not misunderstand me.

I do not agree with you that I have some inferiority or superiority complex. In fact, I do not nurture any kind of complex - inferior or superior because I know that man is just a man, nothing more that and nothing less than that. I am well content with whatever I have and when I look around I do not find anyone whom I can be jealous of. This life is short-lived and we have nothing to be proud of. Though you are pretty senior to me age-wise, I would request you also that please do not consider yourself superior to anyone. I have all regards for you as you are elder than me and I respect my elders. I hope that clafifies the position and that you will not nurture any misconceptions about me.

Coming to topic, I agree to the extent that there could be some exceptions among the juniors/subordinates who might show some arrogance to their Jat boss but exceptions are not taken into account while generalizing any issue.

Fateh Singh ji, shall appreciate if you could kindly indicate your criteria to determine who is an inferior Jat and who is superior Jat on this forum.

Regards.

Brother, thanks for your expression, I have nothing against in my mind. VP, I aLSO KNOW THAT RESPECT IS COMMANDED & FOR YOUR info, most of the jat officers atlist in Defence do earn good respect. It is also not that jat subordinates donot like their jat bosses but mostly due to lack of maturity, ill behaviour & cheap popularity and sometimes for a very small gain, they expose their boss so badly that even if the boss wants to help, he is unable. fOR EXAMPLE, IN 1974 IN j&k in my coy a Coy Havildar Major was to be appointed, my senior JCO broght three names, non was jat in these three , Iwas aware that senior most Havildar was jat, by the way he was from Gagadwas, I told the JCO that we will follow seniority, thus the senior was appointed, The jat individual who was appointed as CHM IN THE EVENING HAD FEW DRINKS, ABUSED PEOPLE all around & said coy commander is my relative, I shall fix every body in the coy. Ihad to remove him next day & you can well immagine my position. It is not that the boy didnot like me or didnot respect me. Brother many people from your dist served with me you may like to ask them about me, I had many big or small such incidents but still tried at every step where ever possible to help. secondly, most of the jats from ages, do not consider other jat including real elder brother even, batter than self & such jats are elite, their strenth is 99%. As far as my level is concern, I am poorest, inferior & foolish of all but very lucky to be a jat. please forgive & forget. Regards

Jats the way

It was interesting to read so many views of so many of our fellow Jatlanders on your thread.

In fact I also like others from our community have come across so many instances when the group or conversation of which I was part of without knowing about my caste bad-mouthed my community. I have come across references to Jats as if they are untouchables/low castes. The common phrase doing rounds these days in Delhi is these ****** Jats Gujjars!! Though at first it feels like a slap on the face, but then I feel pity on those ignorant idiots who harbour such feelings without much reason. I am as proud a Jat as can be and nobody can take my pride away - Let the dogs bark. My endeavour is to be the best in my field and help (in whatever way I can) my fellow brothers be the best in their fields.Though at the same time, I also agree with what Sunita had to say - there are in fact quite some bad onions amongst us who spoil the image of the entire sac of onions.

I also agree with what Col. Jagmohan had to say and that is: Help fellow jats without making it too obvious (haathi bhi nikal jaaye aur pataa bhi naa chale). There is no point in wearing a caste tag up our sleeves and form groups when we are part of a multi-cultural group. We or for that matter any community can be of more help to each other by acting discreetly. As it is, Outer Delhi and most of Haryana and other traditional jat areas are progressively becoming multi-cultural with the advent of other communities.

As far as Haryanvi language and culture is concerned, some fillip needs to be given by the Haryana Govt. towards this endeavour by setting up departments in research establishments/universities in this regard. Moreover, academicians and research students should come forward and pursue and publish research on Jat history and language.

Ego is really a great thing if it helps to achieve something that you want to achieve but at the same time it is really a bad thing if you dont know how to handle it so it has got both pros as well as cons.

Coming to topic of JAts not helping another jat, i ll tell you small conversation which i was having with a fellow jatlander and wha the said

Me-we should do something about the jats in village who are able but unable to achieve what they should have achieved, i mean we should help the needy
FJLander-ye to glat hai aise to dusri jati mein bhi hain hume unki bhi maddat karni chahiye, then he cited a example of poor brahmin ( vo to hamesha hi garib raha hai kisi kahani mein dekh lo garib brhamin se suru karte hain)from his village lekin jat k naam pe kuch nahi karna.

aadey bhai baat to sab kar le sain but i dont know how many are actually helping themselves who can help, ghat sudharan ka theka lenegy sidha jabki ghar mein chahe safai ho ya na ho?

I think if start helping with us then it will automatically solve the issue as someone has rightly said 'charity begins at home'.

I do part time real estate business in bangalore, one day a gentlemen asked me for 20 acres requirement for his firm (he works in a big real estate firm). Baton - baton me we came to know that we both are jats. After that he helped me allot. (This is another thing that deal has not happened yet )(but he is supporting me).

Jitender these kind of experiences are always there but STILL by n large we JATS carry negative image not only in our own community but other castes too.

Once a very handsome n jat boy was working at VERTEX the BPO in my friends office, my friend pointed out once when i went there and we both discussed his good dressing style. After few moments another colleague joined him and they satrted talking loud in haryanwi....My friend said-उम्हू हो गया सत्यानास ये तो मुह न खोलता तो अच्छा था मुह खोल्तेये पता लग गया के जाट है , मै बोली फेर मुह खोलते ही तो तेरा भी पता लग जाता है के तू बाहमणी है बेशक तू कित्निये पोलीश्डँ अंग्रेजी बोल ले u.k accent mai:)

So could you please put some benefits looking at todays world of speaking haryanvi?

Bhai.....Everything being done is not always for benefit. We dont respect our elders for benefit, we dont love our children for benefit.Similarly speaking mother tongue is also not for any real benefit.

Rather,It act as a catalyst to connect with people who share our ethnic roots. It connects us to our past and allows us to maintain strong ties with our culture.
अपने बुद्लां गेल बात करण में ते इब हरयाणवी में ऐ मजा आवे है .....

Our youth have established feelings of inferiority due to a lack of cultural awareness.
बालक ने पैदा होते ऐ अंग्रेजी सीखान लाग जा है ....उसने नु ना बताते की बेटा तेरा गाम कुन्सा है ..........कुनबे में कौन कौन है ....के रीती रिवाज से .....
