Shiva ji i wrote the communal as a sarcasm for the people who discussed this in details in this thread …. and for me my nation is first priority any leader whether muslim , hindu , sikh , parsi irrespective of his caste , relegion and creed can try to make India as 5th Asian tiger then i will vote for him …. As you have asked my opinion consider Indian as your first and primary identity before any thing then you yourself get rid of these fancy definitions like secular , communal and other such definitions ….. we require extreme nationalism for some time to geared up the speed and trust me inhabitants of Indian Peninsula have the capability to make the dragon flame less

I hope you are not equating what happened with Kashmiri Pandits with the state of Punjabi Hindus during militancy. There is no comparison. In spite of the few instances of Hindus targeted during Punjab, Hindus still constitute about 40% of the population of Punjab whereas you can google up the change in % of Kashmiri Pandits between 1989 and now.In fact it would be fair to say that more Sikhs were targeted by militants in Punjab than Hindus.

2. March 31, 1988 The Rajbah 18 members of a Rajput family shot dead at village the Rajbah under police station.

4. May 15, 1988 40 persons gunned down, 100 others injured in different incidents at Samana, Patiala

All the Victims of these incidents might not be Hindu but i am sure about one bolded incident ...... i remember that and this is a real terrorism when a small kid remember these things .... my family was in Ambala at that time and i saw few shocked and demised family crying badly .... All memebers pardon me this is out of hat i dont want to discuss it ...i dont want to go in history ..... I dont have any grudges and future is for peace in Punjab

Thanks for the links; I appreciate the effort. Even you agreed that not all of the terrorist incidents were targeted killings of Hindus. There were incidents that specifically targeted Hindus but at the same time the whole of Punjab suffered. Many Sikhs marked as police informers or govt officials were killed as well. In fact as the Punjab Police was heavily Sikh majority, many of the police personnel fighting the militants were Sikhs and hence suffered casualties.

Going back to my previous point, I wasnt denying that Hindus were targeted, but there was hardly a mass campaign to rid the state of the Hindus. Certainly not at the scale visible in Kashmir. Kashmir saw mass expulsions and the evidence in the form of camps for Kashmiri Pandits still exist in many places in Delhi and Jammu. Sometimes the local mosque would announce and ask all Muslims in the villages to push the Pandits out. Pandit homes were targeted and prominent leaders were bumped off. This was evident of an anti-Hindu sentiment in the whole population of the state. But if you compare with this, the common Sikh population in Punjab wasn't against any Hindu neighbor of his. I have lived through the 80s and our local temple was attacked killing the pujari and a few other devotees. The Granthi of the gurudwara was amongst the first people to visit the house of the deceased along with many other Sikhs of the colony. In fact it could be proudly said that the general people in Punjab showed exemplary spirit of unity in spite of the tensions and violence going on in the state.
