Jaspreet, i see one point over here. People are trying to change the geography of a state with the smart articulations of thoughts. It can never do that and should not be allowed to do that.
I think we are underestimating the problem if we are just stating it as smart articulation of thoughts. Me and you are both fooling ourselves if we think there is no genuine demand to break-away from the union. The problem is our fear that addressing such a demand will lead to other demands elsewhere, esp North East and will break up the country. So a whole generation of Kashmiris was wasted away, thousands of soldiers died and the country bled billions of dollars and this will continue to happen.
Plebiscite for telangana is not being done within state and over here it is being thought for separating out a portion of land from nation and please let us know the view for khalistan in that case?? wahan bhi hona chahiye tha kya?
I think you are misconstruing the purpose of a plebiscite. Its
not an acceptance of a demand to break-away. Its just an acceptance that such
a demand exists and to have a poll to decide if indeed majority of the people want to form an independent nation. Most recently, Quebec, a French-speaking state of Canada, went for a plebiscite around 2003-04 but the separatists narrowly lost and Quebec continues to be a state of Canada.
About Khalistan, plebiscite could have been an option chosen by the central govt if it had the courage. But as always with central govt. it tries to show every political and social issue as a law and order problem and one that can be handled by force. Its only later when force doesnt work, as in the case of Kashmir and Naxals that it thinks of other alternatives.
In my opinion if a plebiscite would have been conducted, the separatists would have lost heavily. There was no popular ground-level support for Khalistan amongst Sikhs and all Hindus certainly supported remaining with India. In fact a plebiscite would have stopped so much blood shed as the results would have quietened down the separatists.
About Telangana, I dont know if a plebiscite is also used for creation of new states within a union. But there is hardly a need as govt in the past has mentioned the demand as justified. The bone of contention delaying Telangana's creation is the position of Hyderabad. Both Andhra and Telangana folks desire it. Maybe it should be made a UT, like Chandigarh.
Shimla samjhauta tha ussi mein faisla ho jana tha lekin iss gandhi parivar ne iss desh har jagah maa thok di and i know some people over here can say there was nothing wrong in that pact and will call Indira Gandhi as iron lady.
Indeed Indira could have asked Bhutto to give PoK in exchange of 90,000 of Pak personnel. But she gave into Bhutto's plea that he will be killed if he gave away PoK and his assurance of goodwill. But as we know, Bhutto was killed anyway, hanged by Zia who later was responsible for Kashmiri militancy. We never know why Indira, in spite of her own Kashmiri roots chose to not have the whole of Kashmir.
Ebb manne to itna bera se ki koi apne sar ki topi ne taaj samjhe and use duniya na mane to duniya galat nhi hoti.
Bhai, isse log bhi sai ki jinke ghar tain bahu n chhori bhaj sai to unhe farak nhi padta and keh de sai ki that was there personnel choice. Same can said for kashmir as well, sayad Vikas ki soch ki tarah hindustan mein 30% log mil jangey jaise piche uss advocate bhusan ne bhi kahi thi n fir court mein pita tha logon se
Baki ek bhai ne JL pe ek baat likhi thi n itni achi thi ki fir likh deta hun ek baar
Jisse jitna gyan uski vaise hi baat hogi, it is not other way round.
I dont think that example works here. We cant let a million people die including soldiers, just for preserving what we think is our idea of India. India is made up of the people who love it, not by lines drawn on maps.
