I don't know how to disprove something that is non-existent. There is no master in Sikhism. Never was. This is a classic Russell's teapot situation.

I don't remember reading anywhere Mardana was a convert to Sikhism. Nor was there a marketing ploy as you put it. I feel like you are giving your own spin on things without reading enough. I would recommend you to read a book on Sikh History. You can start with Khushwant Singh's a History of...

^^I didn't know you are the designated spokesperson for everyone on JL. Who appointed you? And what other statements do you wish to make on behalf of everyone?

I think you need to understand the basics of Sikhism or at least its teaching. In it basic principles its much closer to Islam than Sikhism. For eg. no idol worship and equality for all. And it wasn't a response to Islam. Thats a myth. Yes, its martial nature was formalized by the later Gurus...

I will disgaree. And I am talking about the scriptures here and not how it was interpreted or operationalised by the people. No other religion sanctions the supremacy of particular community over others in its holy books. In fact that was how Islam, Christianity and Sikhism grew in India. Their...

I have asked 100s, face to face and virtually. I am yet to meet a single one who says Sikh Guru were Jatts. That debate is non-existent. Depending on their age and knowledge, they are either aware of caste of the Gurus or not but no one actually said they were Jatts. If you are talking to NRI...

Decent use of data but not so correct conclusions. According to you Brahmins were poor, innocent mantra chanting simpletons. Well, these simpletons restricted access to temples, education and ran the society via the rulers. They proclaimed they had the god given right to be closer to God and...

I haven't heard that excuse the first time from you but still you continue to reply and engage in verbal jousting with me. Either you are not a man of your words or you yourself don't believe what you say.

Neither do I fully agree with Sharad Yadav but I think you may be a little hasty in passing judgements on our Jat ancestors who veered away from Hinduism. What do we know of the hardships or daily lives they lived to say they were scared? Islam also spread via Sufism in the North as it appealed...

Over 120 Killed as Taliban Suicide Bombers Attack Peshawar School

Though one can't help but feel pain at this attack on innocent kids, for Pakistan its a case of the chicken coming home to roost. The decades of conniving with non-state forces and flaming militancy in their neighbouring countries has made it a hotbed of terror and made it face the brunt of its...

    जिन्होंने हिंदू धर्म को त्यागा...

I think its absolutely essential to visit places of religions other than your own. Not to worship, but to satisfy one's curiosity, to observe and to understand. I studied in a convent school so visits to the school chapel were common. I regularly visited temples as a child and even when I was...

Sikhism has a book/scripture but yes its different from the Abrahamic faiths that in captures the teachings of the Gurus rather than chronicle their lives.

Good excuse for an easy escape when you run out of arguments. "You don't have a right to speak on this issue!" Lol.

Then why do you care to reply? I and every Indian is a concerned party anyway as its a decision being taken by the govt. which belongs to us all.

You are closer to being an agnostic I'd say. There's no harm in being one. Khushwant Singh many of the world's scientists have been agnostics. Its sort of an in-between stage between a believer and an atheist. I consider myself one.

Congress: Greatest Threat to Hindu Religion and India

Although, I feel its off topic for this thread, but your comment and questions are interesting, so I will venture a response - 1. Its a Devil's choice. Having one super-power is never good. It destroys a sense of balance. One simply has to ask the residents of all the countries who have...

I mentioned VHP only in context of past conversions related issues and not in the wider political context as you have mentioned above. Of course, Congress and it politically motivated tactics is very much to blame for much of the mess in the country. But that's a different topic for another thread.

Agree with many goras being Hindus and by default very much Indian in their way of living. Going by a name or defining certain 'types of names' as Indian is being close minded.
