Babar Kot is an archeological site belonging to Indus Valley Civilisation in Amreli district of Saurashtra region of Gujarat State, India. Babarkot village PIN Code-365540

Location

It is located in Saurashtra region of Gujarat State, India. It is 325 km away from Ahmedabad and 152 km away from Bhavnagar.

Gregory Possehl, of University of Pennsylvania has undertaken detailed study at this site as well as at Rojdi and Oriyo timbo.

This site is classfied as belonging to Late Harappan period and measures about 2.7 hectares; Babar Kot had a stone fortification wall.[1]

Findings from this site include plant remains of millets,gram,[2] bajra (pennisetum typhoideum)etc.[3] Further, it is indicated that Bajra might be present at this site during third millennium BCE.[4] Babar kot provided evidence of two crops, one in summer and another during winter.[5]
