(Redirected from Snehi)

Sanehi (or Snehi (ਪੰਜਾਬੀ: ਸਨੇਹੀ ;हिंदी: स्‍नेही, सनेही) translates to "the beloved" in Hindi/Punjabi.

The Sanehis are a relatively rare surname, belonging to Jat Sikh or Rajput clans and usually found near districts of Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Lahore, and have long been warriors.

Sanehis belonging to the Jat Sikh community are said to be descendants of Sidhu.

Most Rajput Sanehis converted to Sikhism during the period of the Ninth Guru, Guru Teg Bahadhur Ji, after being influenced by his contribution to the society. They persuaded other Rajput clans to award parts of their land to the Guru, as a token of respect. They have since continued fighting wars, and most are still part of Army Batallions.
