A brief note by the author and editor of this web-page
This book answers many doubts and riddles about the meaning of “Haryana”, its ancient boundaries and the relationship of Haryana's masses with Lord Shiva. And above all, it clarifies the reality of Shiva – who was not an imaginary character as is the popular belief. Shiva or ‘Har’ used to be a mighty king with his capital stationed in Himalayas’ Kailash mountain and whose kingdom in the northern plains of India stretched from Hardwar to Badayun, Chambal valley in south, and upto Sutlej river in the north. All other names given to this land are also explained in the book, with details. The conclusion is that “Haryana” (हरयाणा), the Vedic name, is the most unique and appropriate name for this land of Shiva and its inhabitants who are the true descendants of Shiva. All efforts have been made to present the book in “as it is” format i.e. the Hindi words have been written in the same style as in the printed book itself. For example, ‘पञ्चायत’ and ‘मञ्जरी’ have been written, instead of ‘पंचायत’ & 'मंजरी'. Minor typing mistakes, if noticed, may please be ignored. Some browsers do not display Devanagri fonts in a proper way. Devnagri text is best viewed in MS Internet Explorer. Thanks. - Dayanand Deswal दयानन्द देसवाल April 2, 2008
