Origin
It is said to be originated from Devaka (देवक) (दउवक) of Nagavansh. [4]
Jat Gotras Namesake
- Deu + Kothar = Deorkothar = Deur Kothar is a site of archaeological importance in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. It is known for its Buddhist stupas and was discovered in 1982.
History
Druhyu Branch spread towards Kashmir the Muslim Jats of Deyu, Draihayu, Sadraiyu, Sadhre and Draihwal gotras are found even today in Jammu and Kashmir and Sialkot.[5]
Dio, Deo, Diu, Dyu, Dew, Deu, Do are but various form; of Dev (Ibid., p. 162).[6]
