Garba
Garba (गारबा) Garba (गरबा)[1] is a Jat clan found in Ludhiana.[2]
Origin
There seems some relation with village Garabdesar (गरबदेसर) in Lunkaransar tehsil of Bikaner district in Rajasthan.
History
H.A. Rose[3] writes that in Ludhiana the Jat Bharais only marries a Bharai Jatni, and the gots avoided are the same as among the Jats. The Jat Bharais are numerous. They claim descent from one Garba Jat (गारबा), a Hindu attendant at Sakhi Sarwar's shrine, who was in a dream bidden by the saint to embrace Islam. On conversion he was called Shaikh Garba.
