Panchagana (पंचगण) was a country mentioned in Mahabharata subjugated by Arjuna. It was probably located in Himachal Pradesh.

Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 24 mentions countries subjugated by Arjuna that lay to the North. Devaprastha (देवप्रस्थ) city is mentioned in Mahabharata (II.24.11). ....Arjuna snatched out the kingdom from Vrihanta, but having made peace with him marched, accompanied by that king, against Senavindu whom he soon expelled from his kingdom. After this he subjugated Modapura, Vamadeva, Sudaman, Susankula, the Northern Ulukas, and the kings of those countries and peoples. Hereafter at the command of Yudhishthira, O monarch, Arjuna, did not move from the city of Senavindu but sent his troops only and brought under his sway those five countries (Panchaganas) and peoples.

पंचगण

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर ने लेख किया है ...पंचगण (AS, p.512) महाभारतकालीन एक देश का नाम था, जिसका उल्लेख कुंती पुत्र पाण्डव अर्जुन की दिग्विजय यात्रा के संबंध में महाभारत, सभापर्व 27, 12 में हुआ है- 'तत्रस्य: पुरुषैरेव धर्म राजस्व शासनात् किरीटी जितवान् राजन् देशान् पंचगणांस्तत:'। उपर्युक्त संदर्भ से सूचित होता है कि पंचगण देश, जो कि गणराज्य जान पड़ता है, वर्तमान हिमाचल प्रदेश में स्थित रहा होगा, क्योंकि इससे पहले तथा इसके बाद में जिन देशों का उल्लेख इसी संदर्भ में है, उनका अभिज्ञान हिमाचल प्रदेश के स्थानों से किया गया है। (दे. मोदापुर, वामदेव, सुदामा, देवप्रस्थ) संभव है कि किन्हीं पांच गणराज्यों का सामूहिक नाम ही पंचगण हो।
