History

In ancient Jaina Records

Its ancient name was Phalarddhi (फलर्द्धि)/Phalavardhika (फलवर्धिका). The Jaina sources Tirthamala Chiatyavandana write - जीरापल्लि फलर्द्धि पारक नगे शैरीसशंखेश्वरे. There is a Jaina temple built before 12th century. [1] It was also called Phalavardhika (फलवर्धिका) in Chauhan dominions. According to Jinaprabha's Vividhatithakalpa (p.105), There was a Vira temple at this place. The Parshva temple was considered very Sacred in Jinaprabha's time and its original icon was broken by Muhammad of Ghur in 12th century. The earliest inscription from this place is V.S. 1221 (1164 AD). Another epigraph has no date but mentions temple of Parshva.[2]
