LOL...yeah, for me the best part was (when Lightening McQueen excitedly tells those small town hillbillies about their very own Doc having Piston cups)... "...What!?! What did the Doc do in his cup???" .......... :D

Yes, the Doc racing in the end was a cool part; (and hey; so how come you have it in your collection already???..........Bhai, koi Chinese link to nahee??? ;) )

Just wanted to bring this thread back into limelight

Saw Pirates of the Carribean - Dead man's chest a couple of weeks ago. Enjoyed it thoroughly and am waiting eagerly for the final installment.

anyway, please share your comments on this movie (or any other). :)

I saw that movie a few days ago and liked it as well. Magar bhaut gussa aata hai when the ending is so abrupt :p.. waiting for the final one too.... waise Mr depp ko dekhne se hee paisa wasool ho jata hai ... khi khi khi:D :D

I think the ending is abrupt to make you curious of what happens next and make you interested in the sequel. Did you know that Johnny Depp's characterisation of Jack Sparrow is based on Rolling Stone Keith Richards and Keith is apparently playing Jack Sparrow's father in the third installment.

...personally was a mite disappointed with the movie (Pirates of the Carribean-Dead Man's Chest)... I dunno, the whole dead-pirates-in-slimy-crusted-skin-from-the-depths Davie Jones and crew) was wierd! (great special effects notwithstanding)...
The plot was too obvious (as in who is chasing who to get what)... but one definitely feels that the next one (is it the final installment?) is definitely going to be interesting....................

Never mind Shail. I bet you will still go and watch the third installment.

Anthony Kaun Hai

Went to the theather's to watch a hindi film after a long time and saw Anthony Kaun Hai *ing Arshad Warsi, Sanjay Dutt and Minnissha Lamba.

Now while watching the movie I had a feeling of Deja Vu, like I had seen it before somewhere else. No doubt in an English movie but for the life of me could not figure out which movie. Having said that, it was a thoroughly enjoyble affair. Enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to anyone who is a movie buff. Great locations, inspired acting, fast paced and an excellent sound track.

BTW, don't forget to share your views and if anyone else knows which English movie it has been "inspired" from, please let me know. Have fun trying to figure out ke ye Anthony kaun hai?

I'm finally catching up on some hyped up movies.
Recently saw:

The Constant Gardener :
Not too sure what the big deal was. Very average
The Passion of the Christ :
After watching it even I felt like punching Jesus in the face. What
a twit.
Da Vinci Code :
Timepass
Mulholland Dr.:
Just didn't get it. But the babe was good. Couple of scenes were nice.

Next on list Hotel Rwanda and Million Dollar Baby.

Apni Hindi movies are mucccccccccccchhhhhhh better then this
Hollywood crap. No wonder I gave up watching these Enlish movies many
years back. They just can't hold a candle to our modern day Hindi movies.

Haven't watched any of those... Rathee ka review padke dekhne ka mann bhi nahi ahi... I just got Netflix ac though... they deliver movie at home and they also pick up after you watched them... u can choose movie online...

Yeah...can skip these.
Vaise I got blockbuster online. It is a better plan that combines online and
in-store checkouts. On the $10/month plan you can probably squeeze in 10
movies a month. Check it out.

Actually if anyone can figure out what the hell happened in Mulholland Dr. I'd be impressed.

Two Techniques

I've noticed two "techniques" that I liked and then I found were being
copied in multiple movies.

The first one is the "falling of the cliff" in a peaceful "accept death
quietly" sort of way...flat body...arms extended...slow motion.
I frist saw it in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" when the lady falls
through the clouds towards the end of the movie. This was then also
copied in Dhoom2 when Rritthik gets shot and falls off the cliff.

The other one is the one when actor takes a fatal flow and then becomes
steely eyed and then sort of drifts into dreamland. Perhaps that is a more
common scene. I first saw it in Gladiator when Russel Crowe takes the fatal
hit and just stands there...and drifts into memory-land. THis was
copied recently in a SRK movie..don't recall which.

Its funny how a technique that works well quickly starts appearing
in many subsequent movies.

a must c series

I happened to see a TV series recently which is about 2 actors who had this mindblowing journey/trip from London to New York.

they are driving on 2 BMW durt bikes with camera and hearing equipment and attached to there helmets and talking devices all fixed...with another cameraman on 3rd bike with a crew comprsing of director and producer and other required personeel...who were al redy to venture on unlimited journey accros....europe eastern eurpoe (including belarus, slovakia, mangolia and aggain siberia.....thru the unknow routes where usually even the natives avoid going.....and then comes the thrilling part....go and watch out......

Long way Round
starring Ewan Mcgregor & Charley Boorman

go go go.....

Saw 'Apocalypto' the other evening, I have very mixed feelings about it. Very gory...and dont know if it does any justice to the Mayan civilization...Seemed to me that Mel Gibson is trying to defend christianity from the blame of destroying that civilization by protraying that it was doomed anyway...

After writing this, I can actually say that it was a disappointing movie...or maybe i went with higher expectations of learning more about the history...see it only after reading a lot about mayans...

Also saw Munnabhai 2...its very good...especially the scene with circuit escorting Gandhiji to the auto :-)...very refreshing movie among the usual crap...

Emma, the cupid!!

Watched "Emma" the other day.
A must for the lovers of Ms. Paltrow. Well, worth a rental I would say.
A beautifully screened musical comedy, not to mention the elegant costumes and wonderful insight into the British style and caste system.

Hi Priti.:) I think U started this discussion long back for best "Creative Movies" of alltime. But gradually it has gone towards people coming out with their own favourite/ best movies which I've noticed r not really creative in most cases:rolleyes: . I mean almost all of them, on everyone's good movie list, ARE infact good -as in entertainment or story telling. But creative?? Well I've got my reservations on that. Anyways it was really nice or shall I say 'creative' on ur part to start this thing. By default everyone must have come to see a lot of really good ones which one may have missed or didn't even know that they existed.

Hi Praveen, yeah I agree the definition of creative has got 'quite' broad here and its turning more into a movie review thread :) . As you say its good though...atleast people can get a jist of some movies they intended to see- what other fellows think about it ....jatland's own movie review place!
