भारत विश्व का सबसे बड़ा बहुदलीय लोकतंत्र है. उसके पास दुनिया की चौथी सबसे बड़ी सेना है और क्रयशक्ति के आधार पर दुनिया की पाँचवीं सबसे बड़ी अर्थव्यवस्था है जो अगले बीस वर्षों के भीतर विश्व में तीसरे स्थान पर पहुँच जाएगी.

भारत के पास अमरीका के बाद सबसे अधिक इंजिनीयर, डॉक्टर और विशेषज्ञ हैं. भारत के पास सबसे बड़ा फ़िल्म उद्योग है और विश्व भर में उसके खाने, फ़ैशन और संस्कृति की धाक है.

दूसरी तरफ़, भारत में आज भी 26 करोड़ से ज़्यादा लोग ग़रीबी की रेखा से नीचे जी रहे हैं. एक सरकारी सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार 31 करोड़ लोग अपने ऊपर प्रतिदिन बीस रुपए भी ख़र्च नहीं कर पाते.

लगभग आधी आबादी को साफ़ पानी और बिजली जैसी बुनियादी सुविधाएँ नसीब नहीं हैं. जनविकास तालिका में भारत आज भी 126वें पायदान पर है.

भ्रष्टाचार, अव्यवस्था की शिकायतें कम नहीं हुई हैं. लगभग दस प्रतिशत भाग में हिंसक अलगाववादी आंदोलन चल रहे हैं और समय-समय पर सांप्रदायिक दंगे होते रहते हैं.

ऐसे में क्या आपको लगता है कि भारत का महाशक्ति बनने का सपना पूरा हो सकता है? आपकी नज़र में भारत की सबसे बड़ी ताक़त क्या है जो उसे महाशक्ति बना सकती है? वो सबसे बड़ी बाधा कौन सी है जो इस सपने को पूरा होने से रोकती है?

In fact India has all the things going for it right now and in the right direction.... Sab hi cheezein jo aaj-kal hitt mein ho rahee hein, Shakti hein Bharat ki.....but the biggest drawback (and potentially something which nullifies everything else) is the Political corruption that has seeped into every form of life, system and workings of the Nation...Till that is eradicated all these positive steps forward mean nothing!

भारत 2020 तक महाशक्ति बन सकता है. मैं भी यही चाहता हूँ, लेकिन नहीं जानता कैसे. फिलहाल हमारी विकास दर चीन के बाद सबसे अधिक है, लेकिन गाँवों से पलायन का दौर तो अब भी जारी है. यह कैसा विकास है, जहाँ गाँवों में आज भी बिजली, पानी, स्कूल, अस्पताल जैसी बुनियादी सुविधाएँ नहीं हैं.

सफलता हासिल करने के कई रास्ते हैं. हम सिर्फ़ आर्थिक विकास के रास्ते पर चल रहे हैं. लेकिन इसके साथ-साथ प्रशासन, पुलिस, शिक्षा और स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं में सुधार भी ज़रूरी है.

भारत की सबसे बड़ी ताक़त है इसकी तेजी से बढ़ती अर्थव्यवस्था और इसके निवासी और ग़ैर-निवासियों की अपने बुजुर्गों की सरज़मी के प्रति वफ़ादारी जो इसे अवश्य महाशक्ति बनाएगी. सबसे बड़ी बाधाऐं हैं--अशिक्षा, बेरोजगारी तथा भ्रष्टाचार जो इस सपने को पूरा होने से रोक तो नहीं सकेंगी परन्तु कोशिश ज़रूर करेंगी.

its no use just calling the glass half full. Look at the half glass filled also. India has moved many miles during last 60 years. I am sure the remaining glass will also get filled slowly. Compare thhe individual families conditions 20 years back and now. Majority of the families have moved much higher. Ofcourse lot more remains to be done.

i wud like 2 contradict d impediment u hav cited 'political corruption'.

China is a communist and oppressive country politically yet it is overheading india. US is no less. US has d most secretive modus-operandi for oppression. if we look in2 history, US has d more "GATES" like our chholagate.

I believe corruption cant dampen d spirits of our soaring economy charts. and liberalisation of trade policies and increasing FDIs and deluge of FIIs are all gonna bang and we will surely acclaim d status of superpower. and special thanks to our indigenous business dinoasaurs saprawling in developed countries thru mergers and acquisitions, nt 2 mention our population which once was our noose of neck--has turned in2 globally competent manpower.

हम महाशक्ति बनने की सही राह पर हैं. लेकिन महाशक्ति बनने के लिए हमें अभी बहुत कुछ बदलना होगा. राजनीति में भ्रष्टाचार, नौकरशाही और शिक्षा की बदहाल व्यवस्था, आतंकवाद और कई अन्य बाधाएँ हैं. मैं समझता हूँ कि जनसंख्या नियंत्रण इनमें सबसे प्रमुख है. जब तक इस पर लगाम नहीं लगेगी, विकास के सारे प्रयास बेकार हैं. हमें महाशक्ति बनने के बजाए लोगों का पेट भरने के बारे में सोचना चाहिए.
