Few days back i gotta see bhupinder hooda govt's campaign on d rear of a 'haryana uday' (CNG) bus.

there's a woman on handpump n hooda is pumping water for her. n d lines go like "payejal jal ki uttam vyawastha" (better arrangement of drinking water).


i felt so pity at it...on haryana n haryana ppl as well tht after 60 yrs of independence, providing better drinking water is an achievement n ppl talk of it in sahpe of campaigns...gosh...darn wat cn b better example of dis advancement tht in d age of domestic airlines eating on train travelling, there is a state which just boasts of drinking water as an achievement.

tht symbolises d state. isnt it?

(PS: there r many other such sates in india, bt here we r concerened wid mor of haryana so i mention its plight n none other n tht ppl boast of its advancement. being a jat n haryana born, i m concerned wid gullibility of ppl tht govt is fooling thm wid such small provisions, n i must say haryana is in deep ****)

I do agree with you. We are seeing only "SHINING HARYANA" about 10-15 % of whole Haryana. The suffering Haryana which constitute 85-90% is not seen by us. We are seeing " SHINING GURGAON" on one side of road but "SUFFERING GURGAON" is not in our vision. Perhaps we have a very Myopic Vision Problem.

Bhai its always good to be +. but bhai 8 districts (out of 20) of 'Shining Haryana' are in NCR since the creation of NCR project, since 1962. Bhai re yu Haryana wala ROME kab lo banega...! Ya fir log nui + reh jyange aur paise kahi aur jata rehvga...!

I have always been in favour of small states, but after seeing the situation of Haryana, I seem to change my perception.

I dont know why HARYANA is always associated with JAT word. Are JATS only in HARYANA or most of the JATS here at JATLAND hail from HARYANA?

This is to be noted that I have never been in favour of Regionalism, but this is in response to Mr. Devender Dahiya's remarks.

As Far I have known or seen, Rajasthan is the only state which has the most number of JATS.

U have mentioned that Haryana has a robust economy and all that, but bro probably you May not be knowing that U.P. is the second largest economy in India, but still U.P. is considered to be one of the four BIMARU states (Thanks to Central and East U.P. for this tag).

Bhai U.P. to second largest economy hai fir bhi door door tak develop hone ka nahi lag raha filhal to...but still people in U.P. have water, kam se kam govt. ko pani dene ke liye to nahi aana pad raha... aur tune to HARYANA ki economy ko bas robust hi kaha hai...!

Bhai I put a question mark on the authencity of this link...as in the demography section, Mahendragarh (Narnaul) is said to contain the most of the muslim population, but for those who know Mewat Region(new Mewat district, Nuh, Firozpur Jhirka and adjoining parts), it contains the most of the muslim population. panne rich to india bhi hai...every yr ford's richest list has many mor frm india thn any other country? bt thn if ggn has skyscrapers n most commute in personal cars, ppl in other parts dnt evn hav an average quality transportation...ke chaalya kare haryane mae we kaale peele ganesh er loga ne kai miles padal chaalna pade hai ghar pahuchan tiya...

i admit differences between rich n poor...educated n uneducated hav 2 b there n so r everywhere...bt no so much panne...nt so wide...tht one sise there is dharavi slums in india n one side skyscrapers...

Bhai kati hadd kar di tune to... I have never tried to focus on a specific state...neither Haryana nor U.P., but I used the example...just to tell that having a strong economy by any states doesnt make it ahead or developed...!

It is good that Jat in Haryana are in power...but bhai U.P. me Jat keval west U.P. me hai...and U.P. is a very big state...Harit Pradesh hota to...definitely Haryana se bahut aage hota...That's y they cant remain in Power...And U.P. has a very active politics, unlike Haryana (Haryana Politics is confined to Haryana Only).

I already know that Haryana was born on Nov. 1st , 1966. Dukh to is baat ka hai ke...41 years me Haryana me abhi tak logon ke pass pani tak nahi pahucha...(govt pani pahucha rahi hai)...yeh halat tab hai jab...Haryana ke pass mostly positive points hai...such as (1). It is a small state, so better manageable. (2). Investment hai...(3).Aadha Haryana NCR me hai...(this is most significant)...and so on...

U.P. dont have such benefits...!

Seema the truth is totally different, villages in Haryana donot even get sufficient drinking water. Most of the villages are supplied with unpotable underground water. Moreover as you have described the ad on the bus, even that ad shows that water is not reaching every home and women still have to pump the water and carry the MATKAS on their head. Well thats what Hooda govt calls DEVELOPMENT!!!

On health front I can say something:---

Shining Haryana-Suffering Haryana-
The process of globalisation has lead to a situation where richest 20% of the population command 86% of the world GDP while the poorest 20% command merely 1(One) %. In other words this model of development and market oriented system, has divided the world in to “Shining World” and “Suffering World”,Similarly we can say that there are tow India,”Shining India” and “Suffering India”. Haryana cannot be an exception.”Shining Haryana and suffering Haryana are very obvious now.On one side of the road there is “Shining Gurgaon” and on the other side of the same road is “Suffering Gurgaon”.It can be said about every town or village also.
Public Health is an obvios causality of this process. There is a clear contradiction between the principles of public health and neoliberal economic theory. Public health is a “public good” i.e. its benefits cannot be individually enjoyed or computed, but have to be seen in the context of benefits that are enjoyed by the public. Thus public health outcomes are shared, and their accumulation lead to better living conditions. It does not mechanically transfer into visible economic determinants, viz income levels or rates of growth. Kerala, for example, has one of the lowest per capita incomes in India but its public health indicators as such are that approach the levels in many developed countries. Infant mortality rate in kerala is less than a third of any other large state in the country including Haryana. An important consequence of globalisation has been commonly described as the”Feminisation of poverty” as women increasingly had to strive to hold families together in various ways in the face of increasing pressures , main among them are increasing poverty, insecurity and ill-health.According to one estimate less than 10% of the $ 5.6 billion spent each year globally on medical research is aimed at the health problems affecting 90% of the world’s population.
The results of National Family Health Survey-III, about Haryana need an indepth analysis but seeing it on random basis it can be said that a state which is “Shining on one side is also suffering on the other side. Economically very much advanced but socially lagging behind.Haryana is well known on the map of the world regarding declining sex ratio.The under weight children under age 3 percentage is 42 in NFHS-III where as it was 35 and 35 in first and second NFHS surveys. The wasted group has 6,5,and 17% respectively in I,II and III NFHS.The percentage of Women whose body mass Index is below normal is 27% in NFHS-III where as it was 25.9% in NFHSII. Also the percentage of women who are overweight or obese has increased from 16.6 to 21.0. the percentage of anaemic ever married women age 15-49 has increased from 47.0(NFHSII) to 56.5(NFHSIII).
Similarly the percentage of pregnant women age 15-49 who are anaemic has increased from 55.5(NFHSII) to 69.7(NFHSIII). The percentage of women who want 2 sons has also increased from 95.2% (NFHSII) to 97.4%(NFHSIII).Paradox is that per capita expenditure on health has increased from Rest. 175.02 in 1998-99 to 243.27 in 2006-2007, though it may still be less.
A very challenging situation is emerging on health front in Haryana. The medical fraternity and paramedics have to rise upto the occasion and decide whether they are for “Shining India” only or are for “Suffering India” first and then “Shining India”. We must see the writings on the wall. The primary and secondary level health care is virtually collapsing in Haryana. In Rohtak district there are 5 CHC’s – Meham, Kalanaur,Chiri, Sampla and Kiloi. As per the norms there should be a surgeon, Physician, Pediatrician and gynaecologist in each CHC. Unfortunately there is not a single specialist in any of the above CHC’s.We must see the writing on the wall.
