Hi Shweta,
Happy V'Day!!(in advance)
..........This is considered to be one of the most auspicious days in one’s life. On the other hand, birthday celebrations in truly Indian style are a low key affair and involved things like paying obeisance to God and “GIVING” away goodies to neediest- the destitute. See the paradox: One is about egoist approach whereas other one is about altruism......
.......
can anyone tell me wht's meaning of this valentine word????????? abt it's origin.........

Do people really need any valentines day to express their feeling? Cards and useless gifts are the only way to express the love? True sense of love gets lost somewhere in this drama and lust rules everywhere!
Totally wastage of time and money !!!!
धनखड जी...100 ki 100 baat hai ye
aaj ke time Vday rose day type ke day bahut sahi rehte hai agar kisi ko apne pyar kaa izhaar kerna ho. iss din youth me mahobbat ki hawane beh rahi hotti hain
. 100 me se 70 papu pass ho jatte hain, normal days me 100 me se 40 hotte hain.to baki ke 30 papuon ke liye Vday kaa bahut mahtav hai

Birthday celebrations in India and low key affairs ? Looks like you have no idea how much money is spent or collected every year on Mayawati's birthday. Our leaders will put western leaders on shame when it comes to birthday celebrations. Count the number of birthdays we celebrate as festivals.
1. Janmastmi
2 ram navmi
3. Mahavir Jayanti
4. Budh Purnima
5. Guru Nanak Jayanti
6. 2nd October
7. 14th November or Bal Divas
8. 5th September as teachers day
9. Prophet Mohmad's birthday ( its not celebrated even in Saudi)
Compare the above list with any other country in the west.
Just stand outside the house of even a small time leader on his birthday and you will see the type of gifts people bringing. We are a nation of contradictions.
If we take our celebrations, we are the most extravagent nation. Look at our weddings. Weddings are after all nothing more than union of two hearts. If so, then why so much of money being wasted ? How much money we spend even on feeding the people on the death of a person, what to talk of birthday....
Celebrations are certainly a big business and I see nothing wrong in that. Valentine's day can be a big business for farmers if we are innovative. Maharastra farmers sell millions of roses each year to Europe. Why can't some of us can develope Valentine's day tour pachages ? How about a slogan;
" Celebrate this years Valentine's day Heer Ranjha style in Sarson Ke Khet me"

The ideas posted here are in no way aganist any western celbartion but to just nail home a point. and this point is palpable enough however hard we try to ingnore it! - as even pointed out by Rk sir for demagogues like Mayavati et al.
The question is Why should one leave good traditions to acquire new ones ? Can't we have an inclusive approcah here also.?
Jit mere bhai, baaki log bhi hain yahan pe, hamien bhi happy V Day bol do...![]()
People feel proud to be an American, British, French, Russian, German etc etc .... but we Indian feel proud to be a NRI. ..........
I protest!!!! This is wrong!
And talking of which the comparison itself is fallacious. You are comparing two different class of nations, first world with us, the third world nation.
Humans should be humans ...... whether first or third world !
Who declared that which is first World ?
We taught them how to count and they counted us as third world nation ....... just becoz we are more than ready to accept that![]()
Bhaisaab,
There are 2 India's - developed India and third world India.
citizens of developed India are educated, have jobs, houses, businesses etc.
third world india has nothing.... they are also in majority.
There is no use being in denial.
Please try living in a jhuggi for a week with no sanitation, no clean drinking water, nothing to eat, disease all-around and then claim India to be developed.
The number of poor people in such conditions has significantly reduced in the last decade and will continue to decline... but as of now they are the majority.
