Respected RK Sir,
All that you have written makes a lot of sense. I think it is more in the mindset. With my experience I can say South Indians are the more humble, more down-to-earth and more supportive than the North Indians. They are willing to help even as strangers. Not that people in North do not do so...but then what I am talking is generic. This my experience. With due regards to your age I believe you would have many other things to tell us as you know more than many of us here. Also, I would like you to compare the attitudes of people of North and South on generation basis too. Please enlighten us as to how people (North-South) are different from people they used to be during your younger days. I am sure there would be differences we do not really know about.
And yes ofcourse, when it comes to personal interest everyone breaks rules. I remember in movie 'Troy' how prince Hector, the prince charming of Troy, known for his character, for the love of his country, for his consideration towards people of Troy, a leader always leading by example, intrudes in an one-to-one fight between his brother Paris and the enemy King's brother to save Paris's life. He kills his brother's foe by deceit. He acknowledges his breaking the rule but then says to the dying enemy "He is my brother". Now, it can be declared as void by calling it an mythological event. But then...nothing can be done about it. People who learn from such movies, do learn. Yup, we do break rules when it comes to the family and personal interests. And, frankly speaking, I do not see any wrong in that. I would do the same. And, I hope, there is nothing North-South about this.
Thank you all.
