jats should think about where are we heading for? Our community is lagging behind in education, politics, administrative services.I mean our representation
in every field is nominal. time has come when we must look forward and all jats must get united whether you're from haryana, punjab or U.P. to uplift our community. Those who're in higher position should help younger ones to get a good job bcoz bihari's, bengali's, madrasi's have captured all the good
posts. This is the high time for us.

Good point !

The real problem is not that we ( we means jat community literally ) can't compete but is that we don't want to compete. Reason behinds this maybe the egoistic nature, superiority complex ( generally ), jealously among us etc etc. In nutshell, we ourselves only are responsible for our current position in the society but not any other external fact. Educated folks feel like aliens whenever they visit the rural areas and vice versa. There is huge gap in lieracy level and hence the mental level.

The real irony is that even after knowing the fact that we are lagging behind we are not ready to realize or accept the ground realities. And the rest of the job is being done beautifully by our selfish politicians.

Let's hope that our community now try to understand that sleeping and dreaming period is over and it's time to work NOW.

Jats in deep sleep/slumber

Praggya you are one of the very few community members who have rightly realised the place of Jat community among the other communities in the country. The rest of them are either more engrossed in their pursuit of personal happiness and well-being or are plain ignorant.

One of the other reasons for this sad state of affairs could be that fortunately or unfortunately Jats as a community is more Indian than any other community. Nation comes before their region/state (an example of this can be seen in the number of threads we have on national issues in comparison to urgent regional/state issues - it is something like ignoring the fire at your home and you standing at the gate of your colony in order to douse the flame if it spreads to other homes). Being patriotic and a nationalist is a good thing but unfortunately the others don't play by this rule. For example irrespective of the consequences, Laloo ignoring all decency of rules, filled the railways vacancies with Biharis all across India, Narsihma Rao and the southern lobby had inducted large numbers of serving Tamil Nadu policemen into Delhi Police. Every other community except the Jats is furthering/pursuing the community agenda. Our community is a like a rudderless boat rocking in the ocean and solely at the mercy of tidal waves.

Our politicians are busy selling the state to outsiders. Take the case of Haryana where majority of the civil services posts are held by people from other communities and that too by people from out of Haryana. The wretched politicians are preparing us for a future where not the majority but the entire lot of influential positions will be held by outsiders.

In fact their is a conscious effort to keep Jats out of employment as far as is possible by the other communities. How many Jats have we had so far at high level positions at the national level - how many Defence chiefs, Home Secretaries, Chief Justices?? Its true that our education system is not upto mark in producing sufficient numbers of well rounded individuals. Having said that, it is also true that the educated and capable Jats are deliberately kept out of the race for senior positions by the more manipulative communities. As mentioned in one of my earlier threads - A Jat loses the race even before it begins (because he is a Jat)....

Waiting for the day when we stand tall together, the whole world will sit up and take notice of this progressive community...

Welcome Praggya at Jatland

We wish you goodluck for your futur. This is your first post with one of the hottest problem in the society and as far as services and positions are concerned Jats are every where. People other then Jats are not convenient with us due to our beheavior or and superiority but we are hardworker and honest hence we will defenetely achieve our goel with our own.

With all good wishes

Good on you praggya on raising this important issue, as everybody know that why jats are not going at higher position, i think basic reason was they are land holders and i have seen alot their grand parents put in their head that they have land so they dont have to work and dont have to study. Even then after all difficulties if any of those people reaches to higher post then they try to stay away with our jat community. its true that if we wants to make good image in community we have to help each other. those people who have any job vacancy at their work place can let know all the jat at the jatland. lets get more jats on board with u, lets make it misson ..........

I agree with Karmveer to a great extent. Jats are every where and sometime it makes us to feel proud to see at such high levels - though a very few ones; but the most unfortunate thing is that those at such levels shy to come up as jats and avoid their brothern jats and mingle with other aaltu faltus instead of gathering their own community. Not all, but majority of them to keep/show themselves hi-fi, will let down their own people saying to other aaltu faltus that they (the jats)are illiterte village folks and they do not have common/civic sense like etc. This is very sad part. One day we all were village folks and our forefathers were hardworking farmers, they did not have the opportunities to get good education due to their poor state of affairs and big families to support with limited resources. And it is their hardworking that they made us to reach at this stage. The business community never allowed the jat community to stand on their feet. So I want to convey to all whether at high level or at whatever level that we should have love, respect and regard for our people like in other communities and should unite to see prosperty of the community as a whole and not an individual. One of my friends from a marwari famility once told that marwaries whether rich or poor are always there to help each other and to bring every marwari to their level i.e. they do not see a poor marwari a poor marwari but will work for his upliftment.

Unfortunately in our community we are lacking this thing. If I am not wrong in almost every jat family, exceptions are everywhere, there are disputes within the family, different groups exist within the family; brothers are not on speaking terms, brothers/family fighting for petty things. We have to forget all these things and one will have to bear such sufferings because if all become same, it will be difficult to survive.

First of all we will have to unite our family, then our neighbourhood, then our village,.....and then the community, only then we can be of any use or helpful to each other. Life is nothing and very short. If we pass it in quarelling within the familities, within the village/neighbour and destroying whatever we are, we will be harming the community and such fightings within the familities etc. are great blow to the rising of any community. I would like to mention for all of us to observe themselves the following situation: Let's go to any police station in our area. What will we see there? Heards of jats with bleeding heads, broken body parts. And have now come to these police stations and vakils to broke their hard earned money. These seem petty things but are great dstroyer of a community. The officers/vakils sitting in the police stations/courts should also feel some responsibility towards their community by councelling them not to destroy themselves in such manners and instead of looting them, should try to establish them in life.

All I mean to say is that we should make a happy life with whatever we have and with our hardworking. We must, I repeat, must, educate our children, guide/help other community fellows also to educate themselves; should try to create such an atmosphere that our coming generation is educated, intelligent and hardworking. Unfortunately we believe in 'nakal' in exams etc. and I think this is the main destroyer of education in our community. We should be hardworking, good in education like others and should have courage to display ourselves. Never think that apprach is the only solution. Hard-work is the best solution. We should have detemrination to suceed in life and will suceed in all spheres. Only thing is we should not be 'nare jats' we, as a community are very strong, intelligent, honest and can achieve anything in life. So should have positive attitude and thinking and should work towards excellence and peaceful living.

All this I have written in a flow and if may have written any thing in a hurry which my community may not like, please excuse me for the same. But the reality is that we should have a peaceful and enjoyable and hardworking life.

Problem of leadership not in professions

I am not agree on this aspect. Jats are every where and in every field. The coming generation is doing fine and they are not confined to only defense services. Ya there is a problem at upper ends where it is related to secretary level posts there our representation is almost null. But in the private venture where it depends on the individual talent they are heading in a large way. As the topic confined to community development and unity, here the problem coming to apex pole as we don't have a leader to represent like in the other states. If we compare ourselves with the other states we are ahead in a better way in over all job scenario (not only confined to Govt. Jobs). We have very less known unity organization and if there are then they are associated with someone's personal interest.

The problem is not that we are not moving but the problem is at apex where there is no leader to hold the body together and that should not have a political interest. We don't have a real idealistic person to represent ourselves who can take us our needs to the policy makers.

Everyone talk about the social backwardness of Jats in India. Can someone convey here which are the social upward community. People are conveying outside what they have analysed in their own way but for the other community they speak what their apex told to world.

Ya there is a need to organize people who are doing work in different fields and there should be a leadership without personal and political interest and all the problem will be solved than. But this is not true that Jats are heading no where the real problem is lack of awareness about each other despite a small community.

Also the people who need really upliftment, like poor rural Jats which have no land for their sustenance really need the financial help either direct or indirect to get a education and than job so that they can also come in the main stream. And the people who don't want to change and want to do Gunda Gardi .... to jaton main gunde badmaash ki life bahut chhoti hoti hai.

The people who think that getting money is only solution for their personal problem and they don't have to think about the community, which is happening in case of high-end individuals they are also facing the problem of identity. As for people in a way or other community does matter a lot. But there also the problem of leadership. Now I don't know from where the leader is going to emerge.

Address Basic Issues First...

Dear All,

This subject has been intensely discussed in past too. There are many serious issues that pull us down. The main reasons of our community not ralising it's potential are as under (Please pardon me should they be too harsh to accept).

1. Typical JAT attitude of not accepting anyone better than themselves.
2. An air of INVINCIBILITY that is inherited, generation after generation. Apne te bada kise ne sochte e na.
3. RELUCTANCE to take up business and restricting to only 'Fauj', 'Police', 'Haryana Roadways', 'DTC', 'Bijli Daftar' etc.
4. A sense of SHAME in starting small ventures, shops etc. Why? Log ke kahenge, ke phalane ka potaa susra dukan kar rhya se.
5. Unwilling to accept or should I say tolerate the success even within own community. Hogs susra DC apne ghar mein!!
6. Failure to IMBIBE positives from other's experiences, even in farming.
7. Not accepting anyone as a LEADER. Saare leader hain.
8. ABANDONMENT of villages by all those who shifted to towns. Of course they only return to take their share or use it in conversations to score points.
9. A basic hatred towards JATS by Brahmins, Banias & SCs. They will always put us down.
10. INABILITY to become a single votebank. Har ek gaam mein kam se kam teen, char gut sein.
11. Not educating and trusting daughters. Ke kare gi padh ke, agle saal byah dein ge.

There may be exceptions but above is the reality.

Regards,

JS Malik

Networking helps no doubt but if one has talent and strong desire and will to succeed, success cannot elude him/her for long.

This is from personal experience.

Be positive and focussed, there are plenty of opportunities out there.

As far as I know, Jats are doing pretty good. May not apply to everybody.
There are couple of things that might need a second look.

Count till 3 before opening your mouth, make sure what you say is not stupid or a threat of physical violence.

Make peace with your immediate family and relatives, be cooperative and helpful. My cousins(mama's kids) in the village have been bickering for the last 3 years over division of land. If they co-operated and trusted each other, they could make a lot of money and also secure the future of their children. I have personally taken it on me to help my cousin's (farmer) kid to go to an engineering college. He is very hard-working and it would be a shame if he did'nt make something on it. You can do the same, mentor one or more of your realtives who need help.

This is all rubbish..!

Poor people are in almost every cast & communities.
There are very few in India who are having more land stocks than JATs.
But if some of them are little ahead of us are all because of there hardwork, determination, attitude & nature...if not all most of them...

We have deviated much from the path which was supposed to be followed.

Accept the truth...

Closing eyes attitude doesn't eliminate the stigmas & problems...

The key factors in the defamation of our community are-

(1) The word "Reservation"...which has tamed our once boiling blood to ice cold extent
(2) Snatching attitude...some people target only their wishes irrespective of the path being followed...right or wrong most of us are intended to fulfill our wishes anyhow
(3) Being confined to our community only...which restricts our expansion on Global Front...we need to make some remarkable efforts for National & Global causes...specially discuss them in annual national gatherings.

We should make social gatherings but must discuss National Issues rather than just to discuss JAT related topics...
We should make efforts to eliminate social evils like "Dowry" "Official Corruption" "Bribe" & Other crimes a long list......
...It will make people aware about what a community can do for our Nation if it comes to JATs.

Think Global, State goes to doldrums - who cares

Why not, we only need to think and discuss national issues. What do we have to do with the state/regional issues. The migrants from Bihar and Bengal will come to our land and think for us, care for us and develop us.

In fact we should invite and sell our land at subsidised rates to outsiders to come and develop our state for us. The policies that India is following at the national level of having large scale migration from Bangladesh (drain on our national resources) and Nepal, we are following at the state level. But it is good because its development......

Way to go. The so called uneducated and simple people in Singur and Nandigram understood the gameplan of their state government and industrialists. But I guess our development brigade will call this anti-development. Food shortages have started. Lets see whats more to come...

Jats are no doubt becoming educated and upwardly mobile, but the fact of the matter is that once a cohesive community they are breaking up and scattering out because of the gameplan of the state government to sell the land to outsiders which in turn leads to most of the blue collared and white collared jobs going to outsiders. All the pro-development lobbyists please analyse and assess if you can, the percentage of local people employed by the industries and the MNCs in Gurgaon at any of the levels starting from blue collared to white collared jobs. This model of Gurgaon will be replicated all across Haryana (if at all its called Haryana after 10-15 years when it will be National Capital Territory or rather Delhi).

What u wrote is all correct but m not agreed with this jealous thing. This is the unique quality which jats r known for. They don feel jealous as far as i know jats

I fully agree with Col. Malik
Jats should beleive in dignity of labour and educate and respect their daughters. The day will not be far behind when community as a whole will progress.

jat farmers

Thanks to all of you for giving your views. I want to share my experiences of traveling western uttar pradesh( jat are in majority there). As a journo i want to know about my people, as i belong to bagpat(U.P). I took local train from delhi to shaharanpur ,via bagpat, baraut and shamli. I met all types of jats, educated, Goonda types, oldies, jat womens, farmer, service men .one thing I noticed through out my journey that jat farmers living in villages where nights are dark and scaring without electricity where crime rate is high, are living a very harsh life. young boys are involved in crime ,one brother is killing other just for a piece of land.In Muzzafarnagar , meerut if we go to schools and college, boys they don't want to take headache of studies as they can easily do 'Nakal' in exams, and want to join either police or military. Girls they want to study but refrain themselves in 'ghar ki char diwari'. women are still illiterate and want their girls to get married just after school. only those jats who are living in cities they are in good position. I don't know about haryana but for western up the reality is very harsh.
see since birth I haven't been among jats, all my friends are from other castes. I never lived in my village I have been living in delhi only. when i go to my village quite few times I really feel theirs a great need for jat villagers to think about where are they going and we jats living in cities must help them to comeout of that mess. we should stop boasting about our land and switchover to education . I have seen punjab, I got impressed . they know the importance of education. women thier are no longer kept in 'ghar ki char diwari' and are in good position . must think about jat women becoz 'ghar ki aurat muzboot hogi to poora parivar sambhal legi'.

That's why it looks weird to u. Never stayed in village so definitely this reaction is inevitable. Let me ask one think. Have u ever compared rural jats with other castes rurals? Do u ever find us degraded in that comparison? Go to a visit of eastern UP villages and see the difference. Ppl always plead about deprecation of what we indeed hold. I am not agree even a bit that eduction level in western UP is so low as u have presented.

very gud pragya

I agree with you malik sir, specially on 'ladki ko ghar grasthi sambhal na....,see we are very much protective or insecure, Ican't understand as far as girls are concerned. we should change our minds. don't underestimate girl child and help them in making their carrer, even help your daughter-in-laws in her carrer too. An educated girl can take care of her familiy far better than others.
