lets learn few things from America-like they have strong nexus between business & politics, unlike ours where unfotunately the nexus is between criminals and politicians. Imagine if we could have rearranged our country on the same lines, like if we have Mr. Narayan Murthy or Azim Pemji as our minister for information tecnology. Mr. Ratan Tata or Mr. Rahul Bajaj as our minister for industries , Captain Gopinath as our minister for civil aviation, mr. KV Kamath as minister for finance, Mr. Vargheses Kurien as minister fir rural development etc. this compilation may be a result of loud thinking and top of the mind recall as more such personalities are there in this country who could be awarded such coveted posts, instead of corrupted politicians having criminal background and lack of knowledge.

Great thought Pragya

U r very rite in saying that we can have all the above mentioned people
as our leaders as they are masters of there own field n have made the nation proud......
the post n responsibilities of Few current politicians like mayawati n all should be taken away from them as they had made politics as bad as it could ever be. Most of ur hate polotics becoz these diry politicians have kinda changed the defination of politics today.........

If the country is taken over by the people like premji, tata, ramroy, ambani etc etc..It would be a good revolution n a new path of success for the nation..

DREAM TEAM .....

however the coordination in the west between financial strongholds and politicians is for fund raising and similarly our leaders need funds so they take the easy route and go on creating an alliance with criminals or there white collared brothers who evade taxes and do all non sense stuff

waise all or some of business people finance politicians at the time of elections here also but the question is ???

DO you think the business houses in west finance politicians for charity ??/

dangerous thought...

when raje was replaced with scindia, people heaved a breath of relief...he was favouring reliance telecom like his own company....

you think if murthy is made minister for IT & Communications, he will let other companies thrive?

power is such a strong thing that once gotten, all the dogs inside will start barking...no matter it's a minister or a CEO...the only cure is to question their integrity to the job assigned...

People don't have choice

Don't know weather the nexus will break here and if the new nexus of business men and politician as the indian businessman still financing the politician to mold the policies for them. Again a new nexus will start. Here Ministers are busy with co-curricular activities like our Agri minister is busy with Cricket. others are like too. Here the govt. is ruled by single person either by Gandhi family or it will break down. Now these people of Lal Salaam will come to power by forcing people after they got success in Nepal and our politician will remain busy with Vote bank politics. Nothing else. Here when we do the planning and identify projects of Urban Governance and Infrastructure, these people simply ruled out the urban governance part as it does not reflect in form of some feature which they can show to their ward members and they used to ask for the project which they can apply within 5 year period.

These people from corporate can not function untill and unless there should be a constitution change and ministers stop finding out loop holes from the constitutions to mold a decision in their way.

Its the politics of 5 years where the People are not aware of their rights and duties. They also seek their short term benefits and in our democracy we don't have choice of new faces, every time the same politicians you will find out in your constituency if you dislike both due to their past records.

At least politician in India are binded to vote for their party because whip is issued. In western countries you can vote even against the bill introduced by your own party, this type of oportunity will make MP's and MLA's to make more money . Family legacy is applicable in the western world too. See Bush's dad was also President, both brothers were Governers of province and one of them is currently President. Al'Gore's father was vice-President and he also became Vice-President and he lost the election of President. There are many more stories like this. All politicians around the world are same. Do you know Bush has huge share in oil companies(He is very rich business man) and he tried his best to keep the oil prices high.
In the nutshell, they(Politicians) all are chips of the same stone whether it is east or west.

Agreed fully !! moreover there is no guarantee that a successful industrialists could be a successful leader.

Senior Bush and Saddam Hussain were business partners and later they had some disputes. Senior Bush didn't had enough time ( as President of US ) left to settle his scores with Saddam so Junior Bush had him( Saddam ) on top of his priorities list. Eveything was for business ( Oil ) in the name of WMD.

There is nothing great about nexus between business and government in the US. The military industrial complex is the direct result of that, case in point - Blackwater, Halliburton. The VP Dick Cheney gave no bid contract to Halliburton in Iraq because he was on the board of Halliburton. These companies push for more war ... you know the rest of the story.

There is a nexus in India between the government and business.... how do you think Ambanis made all their money!! It is just crony-capitalism. It distorts market forces.

In India, Mayawati has a better chance of becoming the Prime Minister as compared to even 1/3 of the dream team you suggested to be realized. That is because we have identity-based(caste, religion, regional etc) politics in India instead of issue-based politics. Too many uneducated people have the right to vote ... politicians are just a reflection of their ignorance and moral decrepitude. In America Bush id still in office because the ignorant religious right supports him. Thats democracy.

Few quotes... I know blah blah blah.............

“It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.” - - Winston Churchill

Thomas Jefferson:
A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.

Thomas Jefferson:
Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government.

This post surely made me giggle at your understanding of Democracy(ofcourse of non-democracy as well) ; as there is nothing like 'undemocratic -ism' in first place as you suggested. Since post-independence we have learnt nothing but everything of west( from culture to polity)and upcoming symptoms suggests not really a solution of ongoing brainwashing by media.Politics is the arena of pleasing populace(which is easy than being stuck on real issues and principles) nowadays so mass-leadership is aleady a rare species in India as well as at world level.Last visionary leader I know is M. Gorbachov who I think should be given Noble Peace Prize every year for his contribution. Running a business firm and running a country of cowards like us(I'm being utterly honest here!) requires skills which are poles apart in nature and in implementation.Any business is purely run on a single thing- Profit. And country!! Ah!! Ask MISS Manmohan Singh( I guess he must have some clues now)
(Irony of such moronic threads is that these dnt bring anything consolidated except a shower of 'it should and blah blah...)
