It is a very good and honest article. But in the end the writer veers off course. He begins to talk about doping in sports. The monetary and other rewards seem to come only after the atheletes win. There seems to be little support from the government when they are training.
Looks like little has changed when it comes to government keeping its word on anounced rewards, hopefully Olympians get the awards they are promised this time.
Like banglore which specializes in IT, we can have many bhiwani's in India each specilaizing in different sports. That is one way to get more medals in international sports.
May be free style wrestling, boxing, badminton, tennis, shooting, archery are few sports that India can hope to get medals in the future. May these are the sports Indians are currently good at and improve.
Some countries are god at a few sports for example kenya - middle distance and long distance running, ethiopia - same like kenya, Indonesia - badminton, Jamaica - sprints(wow! Usain Bolt) Turkey - wrestling, boxing, weightlifting etc.
So may be India can select a few sports and have different bhiwanis specializing in those few sports. Then later we can add more sports.
Though I still believe the useless sport of cricket should go from India.
