NEW DELHI: It has become nauseatingly familiar. Low-intensity bombs placed in crowded markets, killing and maiming children, their parents, unsuspecting shoppers, unmindful of their caste, creed or religion. Within a month and a half of Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad terror blasts, Delhi was mauled on Saturday leaving 30 innocents dead and 90 injured.

In all, five bombs went off in less than half an hour. Two of them in the heart of Delhi in Connaught Place, two at the upscale Greater Kailash M Block market in south Delhi, and one, the most damaging one, in the crowded Ghaffar Market in Karol Bagh.

Three more bombs were defused, one of them at the popular Children's Park in India Gate, indicating the depraved mind of the terrorists.

The Indian Mujahideen, regarded by security agencies as a front of the Lashkar-Huji terror machine, has claimed responsibility for the blasts. The Indian Mujahideen email, titled "the Message of Death", said: "In the name of Allah, Indian Mujahideen strikes back once more. ... Do whatever you can. Stop us if you can."

This group had sent emails before the UP court blasts, the Jaipur and Ahmedabad blasts. This time, too, it sent an email to media groups, however, 10 minutes after the first blast. And for the third time, it specifically threatened The Times of India for attacking terror.

The first blast took place at Ghaffar Market at 6.10 pm. Soon after that, two explosions rocked Connaught Place, one at Barakambha Road near Gopaldas Building at 6.30 pm and the other near the Metro station at the Central Park at 6.31 pm. Almost simultaneously, a blast hit M-block market in Greater Kailash-I near McDonald's and seven minutes later another bomb went off near Prince Pan Corner in the same market.

All blasts were of low intensity, and the defused bombs suggest they used the cocktail of ammonium nitrate, gun powder, ball bearings and nails, with timer devices , the same kind of bombs that were used in Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad, indicating that it's the same group that's wreaking terror across the country.

Eyewitnesses said that explosives at Connaught Place were kept in a dustbin in Central Park of Connaught Place while at Gopaldas building, the bombs were kept in a dustbin next to the bus stand. An 11-year-old boy, Rohit (name changed) who had witnessed two persons wearing a black dress putting two plastic bags inside the dustbin, is being examined by the cops.

Police say the first blast in Karol Bagh was the result of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cylinder explosion. The impact of the blasts in Karol Bagh could be gauged by the fact that an auto was thrown up in the air and got caught in the electrical wires. "The terrorist have used the CNG autorickshaw to maximise the impact and we have so far not been able to find the number plate of the vehicle," said a police officer.

Eyewitnesses claim that explosives were loaded on a bicycle near Prince Pan Centre in GK I and another inside a dustbin near McDonald's. All the blasts were of low intensity and ball bearings were used to maximize the impact, said investigators.

In GK's M block market, the blast took place next to a Maruti car to maximise the impact but it did not explode averting a bigger tragedy. Cops said that a low intensity blast with a timer was used to trigger the blast. The second blast which took place next to a pan shop was higher intensity but shopkeepers and shoppers had evacuated the area by then, reducing the human loss. All the blast sites were popular shopping destinations, and all of them were teeming with people on weekend shopping.

Three unexploded bombs were found later taking the total number of bombs to 8. The first was found near India Gate inside a dustbin at the Children's Park and one was defused at Regal Cinema Hall which was lying on the road, while another one was found at Central Park, again inside a dustbin. A National Security Guard (NSG) team defused the bombs after they were informed by the witnesses about unclaimed objects. NSG experts were assessing the situation and nature of explosives used.

Indian Mujahideen claims responsibility

In an email to media organisations, Indian Mujahideen, the terror outfit that had claimed responsibility for the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts, said it had carried out the serial blasts in Delhi. It threatened that there would be nine blasts in all.

Sarojini Nagar market, scene of the pre-Diwali eve blasts in 2005, in which more than 60 people were killed, has been evacuated.

Whole Jatland has sympathy for all those who suffered in these Bomb Blasts

Now it be difficult as "How to react over these incidents".
Bombs have become like a part of our life.
Something serious & expeditious has to be done against the culprits to some very hard way what they understand well.

This would have never occured if islam was prevented from entering India. The defeat of raja dahir started the begining of islam in india and it entrenched itself complelety and permanently in India with defeat of prithvi raj chauhan. Muslims from Morrocco to Indonesia consider themselves Muslims first and then citizens of their respective countries.
Amazingly it spread rapidly due to conquests and conversions done on the strength of the sword. The converted kashmiris muslims of today had hindu ancestors and now the converted have become the voice of the converters.

very sad.....feel really sorry for the innocent people who lost their lives and their near and dear ones.

Jago Mohan Pyare!

Very sad news and i hope all JL's in around Delhi are alright. Operation BAD is successful now and this Indian Mujahidin must be celebrating that now they had slapped the Indian Govt. on its face and reason i am saying is that if the authorities were aware of this conspiracy what steps did they took to prevent it.
My question to PM here is why POTA is not there when terrorist are doing their job freely!
Why GUJKKO is not supported by centre govt?
Why Afjal Guru still waiting behind the Bars?
All the parties who claim themselves secular please listen to terrorists what they want and react to them like US is reacting.
Bush ke saath itna acche rishte bana liye MOhan jee abb kuch toh aggression bhee seekh lete unse.

I wonder what the hell Govt, Intelligence Agencies, Police doing to prevent them?? In last 5 months 5 cities have targeted and many innocent ppl lost their lives ... and just after the blasts our great govt says we strongly condemn their barbaric act!!

Its total faliure ... we now must hire some forgein agenices to look after it, some thing like Mossad from Israel !!

In India, nowdays its kinda become 'Living Dangerously' !!!

Actually Abhimanyu ji they are safe and secure. They need not take any action. All politician are too much rich that in adverse situations they can migrate to a foreign country. Then why will they think for the nation. They think that politics is the way to earn glamor and money and they are stepping forward to achieve their objectives of wealth maximization day by day. Now the change should be at root level.

Actually FAULT starts from Higher Level always...
& then flows downward

Our Leaders are not united over "Actions to be taken"..

Ghum phir ke shaq ki sui last me wahi rukti hai jahan har baar rukti hai. But uske aage sab kuchh ruk jaata hai hota kuchh nahi. Don't know what are they waiting for.

Sitting by the window of United Coffee House at 6:30 PM, busy in discussions with colleagues i hear a loud explosion. I suddenly got up to see what happened, after seeing a cloud of smoke over Central Park i understood it is something serious. A waiter rushed in shouting it's a bomb blast, everyone was asked to be seated. While everyone was enjoying food and drinks, i was observing people rushing outside, it was a contrast of 2 world.

I imm. called home and informed dad about me being safe, he insisted to rush back home(he didnt know about rest of the blasts).

My heart prompted me to go and help people, my mind forced me to rush back home. Honestly, fear and learning of Ahemdabad, Surat and Bangalore blast did wonders and my mind won. As soon as i got out of United Coffee House, i got horrific news of 5 explosions, with trembled hands i started to drive back home. On the way, trying to call all my friends staying near by CP and GK, it was getting tough to get through as jammers were placed in those areas.

It was all fine until i saw what has happened on TV after coming back, a few meters away from me were lying dead bodies, innocents who didnt even know who killed them, who dint even know why they are killed.

Today, i dont feel safe in my own country, i dont feel safe walking on streets, i dont feel safe stepping out of my house.... is this the life we want?

Lines from Mission Kashmir truly explains mayhem that Delhi or India is witnessing:

Dhuan Dhuan... dhuan hi dhuan

Jale hai kyu makaan?

Minister's foot in mouth

Thank god, you're alright.

I tuned in to the television after the bombs went off. Heard Minister of State for Home Shriprakash Jaiswal say, "Jin logo ne ye kiya hain, hum unhe desk ka dushman No. 1 karaar dete hain (as if they need this certificate)."

And then, although I'm sure he didn't intend to, truth slipped out his mouth: "Hum aapke (STAR News) maadhyam se ye batana chahenge ke sarkar par in dhamakon ka koi asar nahi hua hai."

How true!

PS: It ain't a forum to discuss movies but has anybody seen A Wednesday? If not, plz do.

Reminiscence: Dark Delhi Diwali (2005)

I still thank God that we are alive...

Source: http://www.jatland.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10719&highlight=Dark+Delhi+Diwali

Dark Delhi Diwali

Don't think putting my real life experiences on paper would ever stop. Yes, things have been happening in my life. A saline experience I would term this one as. It was the biggest terrorist strike ever in Delhi. It was a festive weekend gone horribly wrong. Three bombs and Delhi went haywire.

Two days to Diwali, Dhanteras eve it was. People usually buy new utensils/vessels on this day, buying element silver in any form is considered as auspicious. 29th Oct 2005 was no different. Like the other parts of the capital, Sarojini Nagar too was crowded. I happened to visit the ever reliable SN market the same evening with Devender, a close pal who stays in the near-by Laxmibai Nagar. Spent about 5 minutes waiting for my turn in the public toilet. Little did I know how crucial these 5 minutes would turn out for me. Five minutes that I would remember all my life. People could hardly move in the heavily crowded SN market. Despite this we entered and had just moved about 20 meters when the sound of a loud explosion ran through our ears. What followed was absolute silence. Shocked and astonished I stood there. Feet trembled for a second.

"It must have been a heck of a cracker" came from Devender's lips. I thought I fooled myself in public. Nobody seemed to care. No exclamations. Everybody around me observed the sky for a second and continued moving. Two minutes later "A cylinder burst....a cylinder burst" cries were heard from some stranger who was closing in for the exit. I could see people making space and moving out of the market as early as they could. We could sense some residual matter in the market air, later we would know it was smell of burnt human skin. While Devender and I were discussing how important it is for people to keep their calm and not to panic in such a situation, a bomb call came from somewhere near. Internally terrified (though I never show that with my outer self), I thought of calling up my parents informing them about my safety. Second later I realized roaming on my cell was not activated. As I looked forward police constables were entering the market telling people to move out. They slapped and hit with their batons some of the hawkers and fragile looking people on their way inside. Later I would feel I could have stayed but it all happened with such haste that we made an exit. Huge black smoke covering almost the entire sky we noticed as we looked back to the place we just rushed out from.

Now, I could see people running frantically, helter-skelter, some without their footwear, towards the market as we moved into the Sarojini Nagar housing society. We could make out their love for their loved ones. "Quite natural" I thought, only later I would know it was a bomb blast with so many casualties. Reached Devender's home and called up at my home number.

"WHERE ARE YOU??? ARE YOU OK????" yelled my mother half crying half speaking on the phone. She knew I had gone to the SN market. Earlier in the day I had remarked "...will bring a sack full of fresh fruits from SN" as I left my Mahipalpur home. Got to know about the blasts from her and thanked God for all in my family, of course except me, were at home. "It would take me some time to reach home. The roads around this place are jammed. Cell isn't working; call me on Devender's number if you need to. I am here till things outside clear up." was enough to calm my mother, I thought. Mother's love, undoubtedly, is something which has no bounds. Its holy huge, immense, deep and sacred. I cried a few tears while whispering "I love you Mom" as I put the phone down. On the contrary, I knew she wouldn't rest until she sees me next. Forthwith, I rushed for my home and quite luckily I reached back in about 20-25 minutes only to find my mother waiting for me on the main gate of my house, my temple. She knew I would rush, she knew how much I care about her, loved her. She knows everything.

Got a few scoldings from Dad. Fathers are like that only, no matter how good or bad right or wrong you do they always keep few scoldings reserved for you. Quite a different stare from my innocent-faced brother followed. Got to know about the severity of the blasts only when I sat in front of an already switched ON TV. Had no other option but to say a big "sorry" (yes, finger tips touching the bottom part of my ears) to my family for taking such a risk and promised them never to go out to any market or any crowded place during and/or on festive occasions. But again, such incidents can happen anytime anywhere. I do not trust the culprits.

Once again, my memories flash back to the five minutes I spent in the public toilet. How important they were for me. Had it not been the case, in all probability I would have been on the famous, now infamous “Shyam Lal” fruit stall having my share of juices. Lucky me. The blast took place near the same fruit shop where I have had numerous glasses of juice since my childhood days. What an escape. The same place now resembles a war-zone, it is heard.

Felt very sorry for the family members of all those who lost their lives. Maybe I could have done something better for the people with wounds but very frankly speaking I could do nothing. It never came to my mind. Maybe I am not that generous but certainly, I need to be. My family was the only thing I thought of that time. I regret for not offering any help to people in need. I accept my insincerity, my negligence. But at the same time, from the bottom of my heart I know how badly I would have loved to help.

60 people died on the tragic Delhi evening, 37 alone in SN. I know I could have been one among them but God had other plans. He shielded me and I survived. For the time being, He did not have a place in his abode for me.

One of my grandfather's best friends, a very close family friend, a solicitor expired the same evening. At some other place, in Andra about 100 people met with a watery grave when a train derailed.

Tsunamis…earthquakes…drowning cities. It is happening all around us. Time for us to realise the value of our lives. We should enjoy and cherish every moment of our life for who knows tomorrow it could be our turn.

Life is beautiful, it really is. Let's live it peacefully. Let's forget the hatred we have inside each one of us. Let's spread love. Let's help each other. Let's serve humanity. Let nothing dampen our spirits.

Somewhere else in Delhi my cousin gives birth to a cute baby girl. Yes, life is beautiful.

Yes, this festival was about thanking God for being alive.

And all terror acts are being committed by a group "Indian mujahadeein?"
And upto now no one from that group has been caught? Their grievance is "persecution of muslims and Indian support for US policies?"

What gives anyone a right to murder someone in the name of God?
Murder people that were created by God himself. These terrorists are just that - terrorists. They have no attachment to their religion or to God.

These are descendants of people who were forcibly committed in India starting from 1300 years ago or so. Now they have become just like the invaders who forcibly converted their forefathers!

There is a holocaust of jewish people but the muslim invaders caused a holocaust of hindus and buddhists and there is a little awareness of it even amongst the Indians.

How many people did Gazhni, Ghori, slave kings, mughals/mongols kill? perhaps millions of hindus, buddhists, sikhs, jains.
The indigenous religion of India - buddhism disappeared from land of its birth as invading armies of Ghori destroyed the buddhist places of learning and worship and killed off the monks.

SriPrakash Jaiswal was spotted in Kanpur at a fancy inaugration.. What a Shame
Hey Vikas

Even i heard tht Shivraj Patil have changed three dresses after the blasts and the news in media abt this is really shocking.
How can Home minister of India have so much time after the blasts to change his dresses, Shivraj patil have no right to b the Home minister of India.

Hey Jit
Yaar i dont think we need Mossad or any other foreign agency wht we need from govt. is to put some money on Internal security of India. I heard in the news tht we dont have sufficient staff in IB and even Delhi police dont have sufficient officers. So Govt. have to do smthing abt it. I know the system in India is so complex but we need to utilize the modern techniques like installing CCTV everywhere and make IB more powerful by supporting it through funding.
Jab Tak Internal security nahi hogee tab tak kya khak India Super power banega. I think Modi said right here:
http://in.jagran.yahoo.com/news/national/politics/5_2_4816952.html
Well question raised by Modi here are right and PM shuld come forward with the answers.
