Dear Members,

Major Ravi Chaudhary, was recently promoted to the rank of Lt Col in the US Air Force.

It was very kind of him to invite a few of our Jat fellows for his promotion ceremony. I was one of the few lucky person to attend the function.

Lt Col Ravi Chaudhary had recently returned after his stint in Iraq. We all wish him good luck and many more promotions in years to come.

Lt Col Ravi Chaudhary comes from a well known Jat Family in US. His elder brother is having second term as a Senator in the state of MN.

Lt Col Ravi Chaudhary I think was born in US only for he is the second generation Indian or he would have come to this country when very young.

What I learnt is that his father belong to some where either near Shamli in Muzaffurnagar distt or near Baraut in Baghpat Dist. He is an aeronautical engineer by profession, but took to become a pilot in USAF. He usually flies the transport careers. He has over 700 hours of flying experience.

The problem is usually, I don't ask people many personal questions.

Why I posted his news here is, because for an Indian it is a good achievement any where whether in India or here in US.

True there are thousands of our own officers back home, but then I did not have access to this site while I was in India, and now I don't have access to many young officers being promoted.

Not in Indian one...

Whatever he choose, he choose it as profession...to earn bread n butter..like thousands of ppls who went abroad for a better living.(fact)

In simple way..what he has done for India...??? That is important.....What he has done for Jat community..that is of second importance...

What we give back to the society...is important..

Well, there are Indian AF Piolet's (Jat one's also, i know many Jat Sqn. Ldrs & Wing Commander's) who have more flying experience..and fought for Kargil..(unlike Iraq)

Or did you mean any Jat who is above Lt. Col should be given space in WIKI????

Hats of to Col. Ravi Chaudhary who has got promotion in the USAF.

and thanks to Col. Tewatia for giving this info at this site to the fellow jats.

No matter that he is second generation but even then he has got into the USAF one of the best forces in the World and moreover he is Jat.
for that matter how many jats have made it to the USAf I am sure there must be thousands jats in US.

So best wishes to both the Col. deshi as well vedeshi. and wish you happy Diwali.

I have been watching this thread simmering into a controversy.

I have some of my own relatives in the US Armed Forces, both active and reserve.

Indian representation in the US Armed Forces is very under-proportional compared to some other ethnic groups. However, Indian representation is highly over-proportional in fields related to academics, medicine and engineering.

I believe it is a good thing to have someone representing our ethnic group in the US Armed Forces. Its just a way of showing our patriotism for our adopted country.

I am undecided on whether Lt. Col. needs to be put on the Jatland Wiki. I think it is a decision that should be left to the Wiki Editor.

Just remember that if we start scratching the surface, we will definitely find some more Jats with accomplishments similar to or better than Lt. Col. Ravi Chaudhry's accomplishments. Just keep that as a factor.

But at the same time it does not deserve to be in Wiki. It undermines many more Jat accomplishments, which are not in Wiki.

First of all heartiest cogratulations to the boy for making to the rank, it is a good achievement but certainly not required to be in wiki. It is not matured action by col tewatia. the col will realise himself that he should not have posted the news after reading various reactions. friends, us airforce is not at all best in the world, they have only best resources. as per my information, not many want to join defence forces in us like India, now in these days. fronkly speaking unless and until some body has done something great for the society & jats, we should avoide such postings. nothing against col ravi, but if there is war between India & us, col ravi would be fighting against our motherland & jats. how would you react then. col(retd)Fateh singh Kharb
