waise Ramayan Mahabharata tei pehlyan banni/liikhi/hui (whatever) thi....aur usme Hanumaan na ka ek bander-bhagwan-insaan thaa.....aur woh JAT tha...yeah pehle kayi baaar prove ho chukka hai....to caste system to define ho chuukaa tha.....lekin mahabharat likhniye itne enlightened nahi the......jei Jatland website uss time banni hotti to shayad kuch kiya jaa sakke tha.....lekin iib ke faayedaa ;)

so stuck to the point of topic.....whoz yr fav...and why....and I still m firm on Duryodhan......and no arguments ...... :)
chhore bahut definition jane s
taine sikhandi bi achha lagya hoga

Please enlighten me :)

A couple of points:

1) Samar though was sarcastic but was true ! Never heard of the story of pandavas putting bodies of their own sons ! Thats not at all a FACT!

When Duryodhana was killed, Ashwathama decided to kill Pandavas in their sleep, but Krishna came to know this somehow, and made their sons to sleep instead of Pandav brothers. Hence, their sons were killed. Sry, I quoted it as Lakshagrah but the fact is true.

Karna was not allowed to show his archary skills only ( but not fighting skills ) in an official function of the Hastinapur where ONLY Kuru Princes were supposed to participate. Nothing wrong in that.

If you talking about the fight between Karna and Arjuna, they did fight many time face to face and each and every time Karna ran away.

If you have read whole Mahabharta then let me know when and where Karna and Arjuna were face to face.
It's a quiz for you ? Answer it or ask me if you don't know

Oops....did I heard those words from u Vijay ji. Well, Karan was never a coward. Krishna and Drona never wanted Karan and Arjun to come face to face bcz they know Karan is more powerful than Arjun. Arjun killed Karan by foul play.

Ur knowledge of the epic is gr8, but its sad to know that Karan ran away.

Now I think, I should recommend u the book.
Kindly go thru "Rashmirathi" by Ram Dhari Singh, even if u have read it earlier.
U can check it on www.kavitakosh.org
Even after reading it carefully, u think that all what u quoted is right, then no one can help.

Kauravas may be wrong, but Pandavas are not always right.

But hey one thing we both agree to is that we disgree...:D
2) Some people seem to be really confused on which character they like , and which they don't , and who was the real cause of war , or on what is the criterion for any of the above ? Please make up your mind! :)[/quote]

If this is for me, then I still stick to Karan.
No confusion, no arguements in that.

Kehsav ji, ya baat to sahi hai ki Vijay ji jitna chunt koi naa...par isme darne ki kya baat hai, he can find the answer once he carefully goes thru the book quoted i.e, Rashmirathi

And I m still on my words.

Amrita,

I read the whole POEM mentioned by you and i must say that it is a nice poetic composition by Dinkar Ji. I said nice poem and that's what it is ONLY. It can be considered a nice and good literature but we, here, are talking about the historical facts ( at least based on the EPIC Mahabharta and some other ancient books). It (the above said peom) says nothing about the fight between Arjuna and Karan neither it tells us any factual details of Kurukshetra or any other battles of that times. It's just a poem on Karan and have no historical value.

Maybe you never read about any incident between Karan and Arjuna face to face. So, let me mention one among them here. It happens during the अज्ञातवास of Pandvas when they were staying in the Kingdom of King Virat. Yudhisthra was knows as Kank, Bheema worked as Cook, Arjuna wokred as a female dance teacher Varhannla (बृहन्नला), Nakula and Sehdev worked as Horse caretakers.

During that time Duroyadhan was friend of King of Trigata. King of Trigata asked Duryodhana to help him to attack on Virat and Duryodhana agreed. Their combined forecs ( Duryodhana's and Trigata's ) attacked on Virat. Karan was the leader of that army. That battle happend at a place named Uttar Goharn (उत्तर गोहरण) which is situated in the west of present Dehradoon. In that battle, Arjuna fought on behalf of King of Virat (still in a female attire) and defeated the Karan and his army. Both Karan and Duryodhana RAN AWAY from the battlefield.

Let me know if you know any other incident or like to know about any other incident. :)

Karna was great archer but Arjuna was the best. The only thing Duryodhana beleived that only Karan can kill Arjuna was that karan had a divine weapon gifted by Lord Indra and which was unbeatable and was sure a death to the on whom it might be used. Now you will ask why Karan didn't used it on Arjuna ? A very simple answer sometimes Karan didn't got time to use it while some other time he didn't know that he was fighting with Arjuna ( like the case i mentioned where Arjuna was in a female attire). That weapon was only reason behind the confidence of Karan that he can kill Arjuna and one day he would otherwise Arjuna was much better archer than him.

Now let me tell you when and how karan used that weapon and all his hopes to kill Arjuna was shattered :

At last, would like to paste here a very common views about Mahabharta and its characters :

As a person anybody can admire any given personality in Mahabharta as every character have some extraordinaly qualities. So, people can admire anybody and i respect their choice. But, yes if someone says that Duryodhana had the right to become King of Hastinapur that is totally unacceptable by all the means. Yes you can point out some qualities in him which you can admire and appreciate. But as a whole, Pandavs were symbol of truth of justice and Kaurva were symbol of Injustice.

I can say and prove it thousand times if someone like to discuss constructively instead of firing a dozen of out of context questions like riddles.

In that case, I am OFF.:)

Thnx Vijay for taking time to read this beautiful poem.

Do u think females were allowed to come to battlefields?? Arjun fought in a female attire to confuse Karan and how can Karna fight with a women??? Isn't it a cheating??..

Gifted???.....and u might now know the reason why Inder gifted that divine weapon. Inder, father of Arjun, was afraid that Karan can beat his son, and out of son-love he begged "kavach-kundle' from Karan and that too by cheating (Inder approachs Karan in a Brahmin attire). Isn't it a cheating??

This is the way how writer feels. He too feels like many of us. And this is what we are taught in our childhood that is why we hardly care to look the other side. We follow what others say.

Now just read it as :

I will still say that being the eldest son of Dhritrashtra, who was eldest son of Vichitraveerya, Duryodhana has the right to the throne of Hastinapur.

Pandavas cheated Duryodhana and Kauravas on many occasion and atlast won, if winning by cheating is truth/justice to you, then you are right.:)

I can say and prove it thousand times if someone like to discuss constructively instead of firing a dozen of out of context questions like riddles.

Yes, thats the point, if one try to question all the incidents ,then one can see there are many loopholes in Pandavas win. Ya , but if one doesnt want to see those, then the matter is different.

In that case, I am OFF. [quote/]

Can u please tell me :
1. Why was Karan not allowed to show his archary skills at that competition, even after Duryodhana crowned him as King of "Angdesh"?
If it a rule that Arjun will fight only with Kshtriyas, do u think this is a right rule, formed by those who have soft corner for Arjun.
If he was a real fighter he shud have competed Karan in that competition happily.
There also, Kunti knows but didnt disclosed that at that occasion.

2. Drona, took off the thumb of "Eklavya", reason being, he dont want any body to overtake Arjun which he was afraid that "Eklavya" can.

3. Inder, father of Arjun, begs Karan of Kavach kundle by cheating to protect his son. Why??

4. Bheem killed Duryodhana by hitting on thighs whereas in a war, it is a rule, that one is not suppose to attack below waist.

5. Arjun killed Karan when he was out of his chariot and without any weapon busy taking off the wheel of his chariot.

Thnx Vijay for taking time to read this beautiful poem.

Does it means that Dinkar ji's poem is factless. Just his imagination....

Yes it is in a way. It tells us that Karan was son on Kunti. It tell us That Karan was not allowed to show his skills of archary ( here i have some contradiction but the way ur just arguing it is unecessory to bring farward that ). It tell us How Karan's guru Pershuram Kicked out Karan of his Ashram because Karan lied and cheated him. Parshuram cursed Karan that the he ( Karan ) would forget the things he tought him. It tells us that Krishana asked him to join Pandavas and Karan refused. In last, it tells us how Krishana went to karan in form of a begger and asked his Kavach Kundal. Fine ... all said ... OK.

Now tell me is it the whole Mahabharat. Its not even a 1% of the whole Mahabharat. Are you argiung here just on the basis of this beautiful poem ONLY.

Do u think females were allowed to come to battlefields?? Arjun fought in a female attire to confuse Karan and how can Karna fight with a women??? Isn't it a cheating??..

What are you upto ? Do you want to know about the incident between Karan and Arjuna or talking about rules of the battlefield. Then listen, The thumb rule is that whenever someone attacks every citizen ( including women and childern have the RIGHT to fight with the enemy ). Duroyodhana and Karan attacked the Virat King and they have every right to defend. Now don't say that Virat King ne Karan ki Bhains khol li thi and he has the RIGHT to attack him. It is not funny at all.

Some greedy people attacked someone and that seems justified to you and a person came forward to save them in a female attire which seems a cheating to you ??????????
GOD BLESS YOU.

Now tell me which poem told you that Indra asked for the Kavach and Kundal from Karan ?????

GOD PLEASE READ MAHABHARTA AGAIN.

That was Krishan not INDRA who asked for Karan's Kavach and Kundal .

Indra gifted him that weapon long back.

I will still say that being the eldest son of Dhritrashtra, who was eldest son of Vichitraveerya, Duryodhana has the right to the throne of Hastinapur.

Yes, you are right word to word.
I rest my case for the sake of all the Goodness, Kindness, Truth and justice of Holy Spirit Duryodhana.

Not to ask for kavach kundal but to show Arjun that how large hearted Karan is. Krishna asked him anything he cud give and Karan gave him his golden teeth even while he was dying. That means u have not read it properly.

[quote/]Now tell me is it the whole Mahabharat. Its not even a 1% of the whole Mahabharat. Are you argiung here just on the basis of this beautiful poem ONLY. [quote/]

Not at all, but can put several questions that put a big question mark on Pandavas truth and justice.

[quote/]What are you upto ? Do you want to know about the incident between Karan and Arjuna or talking about rules of the battlefield. Women and children can ofcourse fight but when a man (Arjun) fights in a female attire, its a clear cheating.

It is Indra who begged Kavach kundal from Karan. U may check the following links for that:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karna

http://www.karna.org/body_story_behind_karna.html

http://www.geocities.com/mahaabhaarat/witnesses/people/men/karn.htm

And also this :

'यह कुछ मुझको नहीं चाहिए, देव धर्म को बल दें,
देना हो तो मुझे कृपा कर कवच और कुंडल दें.'
'कवच और कुंडल!' विद्युत छू गयी कर्ण के तन को;

Now tell me WHO NEEDS TO READ MAHABHARAT AGAIN???

[quote/]Yes, you are right word to word.
I rest my case for the sake of all the Goodness, Kindness, Truth and justice of Holy Spirit Duryodhana. [quote/]

I know its very difficult to answer those questions.
