Yes India has changed. But has it really? Some things are still the same or worse. In no particular order.
1. Beggars - 1.2 billion people so not a surprise.
2. Roads - impassable with boulder size potholes.
3. Child marriage/widow burning/dowry(social change) - ?
4. Exploding population - biggest worry. Too many, too many. The sheer mass of people, the congested cities.
5. Urban sprawl - mumbai now vs mumbai say 20 yeras ago? same for banglore, delhi, chennai, kolkatta. trees gone(deforestation)....
and change everyone talks about based upon?
6. Indians and their foreign partners screwi*%# the poor and the underpaid for profit.
biggest challenge?

Aman,

Every change takes its own time.

In simple words if you will compare today's india with that of 5 or 10 years before india, then you will get the meaning of "India Shining"..
May be after 5 or 10 years all the things explain below by you will be at a stage of solution...:)

Problems are always there and will remain there but they should not outshine the real positive change we have seen. Against these 6 listing you could have posted 100 shining achievments also

How many of the Indian people living under the poverty line(probably half of the population) boast of the Indian miracle? The increases in GDP is negated by the increase in population. More people to house and more mouths to feed. Squatters, homeless sleepers and beggars. One equalizer for the poor man I can see by watching Indian news. Indian Traffic. The rich Indian guy's mercedes' crawling behind the rickshaws and the horse buggies in the 15 km an hour Indian city traffic! I think this will be the coming fate of Western countries - Overpopulation.

Aman its good to see that you have mentioned some of the major problems that India and Indians are facing. But i am not able to understand what is the reason behind you posting such thread.I mean if you are genuinely concerned about it then you should have given a few ideas or strategies which we(Indians) can follow to make India a better country to live in.We know there are end number of problems and issues which are hurdles in the developemt of our country. But some of the problems which u have mentioned are prominent in many nations.Your thread would have been more meaningful if you would have requested fellow memebers for suggestions to provide some solutions to the problems. Its easy to find a fault but its very difficult to try fixing them.I know a few people who are born and brought up in India but have left India for their studies and career and i was surprised to hear all bad things about India from a few of them. The country which gave them so much now they find every damn fault in it.Right from soil(now its dirt for them)to weather(which they find pathetic now).If you are one of them then i would say only one thing"No matter how ugly a mother is,to a kid she is the most beautiful creature on the earth".

Oye tera ek aur foriegn se Dollars ki gathdi bhar ke lyaya hai un poor people ko feed karne (Volkswagon:- 3400 crore).

Did you gave any contribution to feed that poor population?

If Not aah i know obviously not than why the hell you are shouting about poverty in India? Now coming time is ours your white arses are coming here by kicking other's and this is my pridiction that your black one will also be here soon.

But i think the biggest problem is faluty and corrupt administration and the system.Education is followed by them.We live in a country where criminals can contest a poll living behind the bars and can join as MP once they get out of it.We can find useless, incompetent and good for nothing people as MP and enjoying lot of benefits which they dont deserve at all.The main criteria for being a politician should be the number of scams a person is invloved in:D So if the administration has such worthy people working with how can we turn our developing nation into developed one?Little we can do about it as even its roots are rotten..so expecting a good fruit from such a tree is like a dream which may not come true.

The biggest challenge is education. It is impossible for a democracy to function properly without informed citizens.

ahh bro i dont knw what a headcase u have ........but all the people told u that they don wana hear from ya side so take a chill pill .....& ya deepika

those people will be selected by us not by ny1 else ...now we have a problem they they are criminals ...if we know each & every thing about a individual than why we are voting him/her .......just to talk like this after electing ...?.there are not only politicians which help india to be shining .....there are lot more options just look out for that .........lets not play a blame game ...........
:D:D:D:D:D:D

In a democracy, the quality and character of a leader are same as the majority of the population. If majority the citizens are educated, it will be hard for criminals and illiterate leaders to get elected. This can also be seen in America. Bush was elected twice because the base of the REpublican - evangelical Christians voted for him en masse. So Bush pushed their agenda - no stem cell research, opposition to abortion etc.
The leaders are as good or as bad as the people electing them.
