"concur"
well i heard this word for the 1st time, when i came to jatland... [my english still evolving
[pit-stop]
in order to have a check on my inquisitiveness nd to keep a break on my curiosity, before the cat is killed... i thot of referring a dictionary nd found the following meanings...
1. To be of the same opinion/ to agree
2. To act together/ to cooperate.
3. To occur at the same time
often times i have seen this word being used/abused so badly. folks have tendency to quote a post, saying... "i concur, word by word" without sparing a thought as to what meaning the post carry or for tht matter whether it carry a meaning at all?
so what is it, that prompts so many folks here to use/abuse this word?
is it their ego tht pumps them to concur?
or is it their goody goody image they are trying to impose by concurring to one gud post, posted by mr. xyz?
and while doing so...
are they referring to meaning no. 1?
or they refer to meaning no. 2... obviously if they are refering to meaning no. 2 the 3rd meaning is bound to follow.
wotsay?... wud appreciate posts from ppl who concur
