yaar udte hi to nahi , udte to sirf india me hai yaha to kuch jada hi control me hai, they need to be a bit 'out of control'. they are the most law abiding ppl (other than working more than wat their visa allows)

Yaar tere profile me Western ki spelling galat hai use sahi kar 'westren' nahi 'WESTERN'

i dont think so
Australia is a cool place
indians aayha aake
kuch jayda hi udane lagte hai

or fir unke ghar wale
bolte hamhare ladko ko bina kis karan ke
mara gaya

phle asie indians ko apne aapko control main rhakna chiye

Thanks guys for the responses.
The real blame for all this nonsense lies with our Government and the Congress Party ... who have 'ruled' us for the last 60 years or so. They have made the whole country into bhookhe bhikhari slumdogs.

Sid, What a wonderful analysis of criminal attacks in quoted post. Man, What Indian government has to do with that.? People migrate anywhere for variety of reasons. This feeling/instincts of territory, resources is almost with everyone in every country. Red Indian were brutally killed in US. People are racists not countries. Earler whites of USA In Mumbai same country man were beaten by same country man on origion bases. Easterm european get bullied in UK irrespective of color. People need to be careful both at foreign as well as at own land.

Morever, Indians got ruled by congress for 60 years because they voted for it out of their own choice. Who's at fault? You seem to generalise bluntly about slumdogs bhookhe bhikhari. Had it been a Jansangh,Left government for 60 years, would whole country be owning their private jets? We are a very young nation. 60 years are nothing in history. Anyway! it would be an interesting day when you would blame government and Congress for mass-pre-mature-ejaculation.

Hi Amit,
You hit the nail on the head...thanks for the unjaundiced thoughts....
Regards
Why do the Indians get targeted for these racial attacks???..........................
So what do we do to avoid these things?....................

Did I say that if there had been a Jan Sangh government we would have been better off - maybe, maybe not.
But there is a direct correlation between lack of quality and quantity of higher education and the education policy since independence. That education policy was planned and executed by the Congress Party.

Here is an informative link to drive the point home.

http://www.deeshaa.org/2009/05/18/arun-shourie-on-the-indian-education-system/

Read this carefully .... Here's your sign ..... If we had good education in India - we would only have a fraction of people spending large sums of money to go to Australia - less people less attacks. The ones going to Australia would be better off and would go there for specific reason of education only. They would not turn up en masse in Australia for Perm Residency like they do now. They would also not work graveyard shifts and travel through bad neighborhoods.... where they are attacked ... the initial intent maybe mugging ... with racial epithets thrown in. I don't hear of Japanese students in Australia (if there are any) being attacked with regular frequency.

I did not know that Aussies were beating up Indians for - mass-pre-mature-ejaculation --- whatever the hell that means!

I am done with the jhikjhik baji regarding this ... if you dont get it .. thats fine .... I am not your teacher ... go read up.

I am sorry to say this but you are doing an excellent job at trying to loose your grant at Stanford! LoL!

I am even more sorry to say that I concur with what you have to say.

Hahhahaha..No no I wont let go off this grant....main apne ne Peurto Rican bataya karoon and looks support it...hehehhe:D..
anyway jokes apart..what I said earlier is sad but true!

And I hear you , me too.. equally sorry!

Well said Shailendar...but how many years it's gonna take us to come of this colonial effect. Why these boys don't dare to stand up...even Jats...once they show them their real selves no one could misbehave or attack. It's human nature....everyone walks over a door mat.

There is another aspect to retaliate in self defence!
Most of the students here are not for gaining a better degree but Australian Residency. Even, if you beat somebody in self defence, it would take months and years to get one's name cleared!
Most of the students come to Australia for studies are from middle or lower middle class families. So, it is easy to imagine the hardship one experiences to muster the required funds. More over, there are lots of hopes and aspirations attached to the student visa.
Sid is absolutely right in blaming the Indian government for not able to create opportunities for the young generation. That is how is the correlation between the current happenings and the blame on Congress government who ruled the country for almost 60 years.
So most appropriate action is to certain precautions.
What precautions?
Okay, i will tell you about the background of recent two incidents.
I have mentioned in another thread also that the guy who attacked this south Indian student with screw driver was part of a night drink party with this Indian group and living in the neighborhood. Why to invite the trouble makes?
The latest case happened at a place where there are hundreds of bars and night club. No sane person would dare to go on that street around midnight.
You can witness violence on every weekend in spite of the heavy police patrolling. It is also true that many of these students work in those bars and restaurants. But this can be avoided if one doesn't try to mingle with the drunk crowd.
Moreover, such things happen even in India but doesn't get that kind of reaction. Rohtak is a small place and I read every single day there are incidents of violence, chain snatching, beating looting etc. It was yesterday only , a father son duo was attacked with knives for not agreeing to give "hafta"
I have observed one thing in this whole drama that Indian Media is highly irresponsible. They just created unnecessary terror in the minds of the parents whose son or daughter is here. No responsible journalist tried to come and get the first hand information. It is really sad!
I have read absolute rubbish fed by the irresponsible individuals. A friend shown me the report in Danik Jagran sent by some one who hail from Karnal and is on student visa. He lives with his wife and young son. I will qoute him about safety of his son at school, " Jab tak hamaara beta school se waapas nahi aa jaata hamaari saans atki rehti hai" Anyone living in Melbourne would agree with me that it is not true at all. This kind of reports are fed to media which is totally rubbish!

Dear Jatlanders, I agree that even if there is a single incident of violence against any Indiana is condemnable but situation is not as bad as projected in the Indian media! This is nothing in comparison with what happened recently in Mumbai.

Therefor my advise to each one of you is to take a Chill Pill and relax! If don't have one than borrow from Bhai Sumit dahiya !

Cheers!

Absolutely..

Its true that drunk violence is very common in Australia, specially in weekends. I have some Australian colleagues here and I spoke to them about it. One of them used to work in Hospital emergency room and said that they hated to work there in weekends.

a story

I think this might be a good place to spit out this real story

a few years back I was doing grad course work in the heart of texas...i wud say, you can generalize it to be a buckle of the Bible belt.

Xenophobia is there to stay, much more than the coastal metro areas...

Indian students used to travel with their bag packs everyday, like any other day, including weekend nights...sometimes around 2 at nite...strolling back to their apartments...

Goraas in the state of inebiration beat one up...cursing and abusing racial slang indicating stupid slumdog nerds...or something of that order...

this caught up real bad and soon 4 more attacks followed...(even though it was publicised mostly locally only)

police started patrolling more and there was tension in the air... there were a lot of "we will not accept racisim and we will catch the perpetrators" and blah...but the attacks continued regardless..

then one day 3 friends of mine (all sikh) were going back around 2 (when bars shut down) on a friday...about 4 people came in a pickup and started hooting, then stopped their vehicle and started itching for a fight..2 were cut surds (their long Lochs having been neatly cut) while one was still proud of his turban...they hit him first...

but this time it was different....all of them were jutt sikhs...instead of running away like the others or just getting their teeth pushed into their stomachs, they fought back so hard that the scene was full of blood (most of which was not of sardar origin!!)

and that was that...

since that day, the attacks have not occured again....

i think these things will boil down to the same bottomline: Either respect yourself or else no one else will.

Now a true story from Melbourne!
A taxi driver, original from Punjab and most probably a jutt sikh, had to take some drunk local youngsters in his cab. The passengers started troubling the lad and showered all kind of abusive and racial comments. When he could bear no more, he stopped his taxi and ask them to leave. They got out of the cab but one of them spat on the poor boy and left. His young mind was so agitated that he decided to take revenge and ran over one of the culprits who died on the spot.
That young man is still languishing in jail and such incident although stray but still continue. This happened in December 2005. I am repeating again my friend, this is universal phenomeon and situation is not as bad as projected by media!

cheers!

Either ways, right or wrong, good or bad, the message went across in both cases:

Dont mess with those guys who have a turban on their heads!

Eventually if you are weak and project the same, you will be targeted, irrespective of the law and order and the blah blahs of the media, politicians or the 'general public'

deshwal sir,
namaskar !

it's a naked fact tht racism exists in most parts of the world nd the gori chamdi always have an edge over blacks nd browns. lets put it in samar's word "countries are not racist, but the people are". catch yr ears any way you can by putting it in any words, the fact however, REMAINS. the law may be same for all communities of ppl living in a particular country, but i strongly doubt the fairness in its execution by the law enforcers.
even here, in south africa, racism exists in all its possible forms... but in a 'hush hush' (obscured) way nd the outcome, more often then not is mostly determined by the law enforcers, which in majority are still whites.

i also agree tht media has blown the issue out of proportion... thts really pathetic nd i also concur with the viewpoint of many here tht you have to be bold in what you stand for !!! whether it is india, or abroad. having said all this,
i've one thing to ask...

as to why we are everyday hearing such cases every now nd then...one more reported today ?
is it b.cos the media has highlighted the issue so much tht even a small, trivial incidence is also being reported ?
or has it something to do with the real picture tht exists/existed but was never reported hitherto...
for what-so-ever reasons ?

i've heard frm many tht australians are arrogant nd racist. one of my friend even surrendered his PR well before all these incidences came into highlight.

thanks ! wud appreciate yr further views on the matter.

Update: Jat/Sikh boy punches back his attacker in Australia! But, he got beaten up by the attackers buddies after he gought back.

http://m.timesofindia.com/PDATOI/articleshow/4622078.cms

Atleast this boy had the balls to throw back a punch or two. Isnt that what we were discussing a little while ago?

In this article, pay attention to the following line towards the end:

The authorities in the state, which hosts 20,000 Indian students, claimed that they had no intelligence report to suggest that Indian students were being racially attacked because they were perceived as "soft targets."

Thats exactly what I said in my comments above. Till we have an image of being 'weak' projected, these things will continue regardless of what the authorities or media says..

As i said before, I would expect retaliation from sardars, I admire them (in general) for courage. In texas, the attacks stopped only coz those 3 sardars had valiantly fought back....It does take balls to do it though..
