Can India be a super power

With all around development in last 10 years, India got a distinguished recognition in world but being 2nd largest populated country, our leadership, professional and businessmen has to do a lot more, to be at par to the developed countries.
In my point of view a country status can be analyzed widely on three fronts as
  • Economic and social development
  • Defense
  • Political Leadership.
Is it possible for India to get the developed country status in coming 5 Years?

I may not go into detailed logical deduction at this moment but I dont think that in Foreseeable 20 years we can be a superpower.

5 saal kyun 5 ghante mein ho jyaaga develop.
Construction low to medium height buildings and staffing them with service industry workers will not make India developed. India can only develop if 100% of its citizens are literate and there is a good higher education infrastructure.
We also need a few constitutional amendments regarding basic human rights like free speech, property rights etc. The government has to be over hauled with regards to providing public goods like law and order, infrastructure.

I intensely dislike this superpower discussion anyways. Aadhi population ne roti khaan ne milti konya, har saal lakhon bhyaari/UP/MP/Orissa/WB aale maran laag rhe sein typhoid malaria dysentry te. ... superpower .. superpower kar rahe sai ... nyu bhi bera sai ke ho sai superpower !!
In the last 10-15 years we have made some development ... and we start beating our chests for it.
Important Human development indicators like education, poverty levels have only showed minuscule improvement. Maach jaa sein .... woh naya paisa aawe jin dharti bech ke ... unki tariyan.

PRESENT demographic ( geographical ) India can never
be superpower.

History tells us that those (tribes ) who come to
power are always very energetic , physically fit , have
valour , brave & determined.

( Mughals , Britishers , now Americans {see olympic
performances of yester years } ...many more )

Half of INDIA is inhabited by timidly structured
humans..spineless!

Resources in this nation are very less , infact after
some years situation can be alarming!

Our leaders gifted most fertile land of this region to
Pakistan....( see in Google Earth's map & assess how
fertile that
portion of punjab is comparative to this side of twin
states of Punjab - Haryana)

Bhuk mari ki nobat aan aali hain INDIA main!

India to sabb kuch kha raha hain..nuclear bijli
, agri items , .....bech / produce to kuch nahin raha to
paisa kahan se aayega ??

One hope is Space RESEARCH ..ISRO or likewise
institutes....thats all.

what makes a country superpower?
if its nuclear weapons then india is a super power.
if quality of life, then its not even close to superpower

Bhai sahi kaha aapne ... today morning I just saw a news on Indiatimes site where a poor farmer from UP sent a mail to President for mercykilling of his sons as they are physically disabled and can't even stand on their feets . such incidents leave us stunned.:(
 
Yesterday heard that water was leaking through the roof of Delhi airport domestic terminal.... :mad: if we can't keep our airports in better shape (they are our picture to world) then what about other things
 
One thing is sure that Indians have lot of potential. Things are changing in our country at a good rate. In every front(economical, defense, education, even in political front) we are improving.
Still a lot of work has to be done specially for people below poverty line. It take years we will becoming superpower.
