Shamless-American Journalists Gets Beaten By Delhi Police!

I read this article on TOI http://m.timesofindia.com/PDATOI/articleshow/5099590.cms

Whatever the Delhi Police report says, I do not believe a word in it. Somehow, witnesses are corroborating the Police' story that the journalist was trying to steal an Ambassador Taxi. I think the Journalist has a more credible story according to which he was beaten because he intervened when he found the Policemen beating another man and then tried to take refuge in an Ambassador Taxi.

Next time an Indian is pulled aside at a US airport, and given a cavity search I wont miss a heartbeat. I really hope that Indian is a relative of one of the Policemen involved.

No wonder China is winning over India when it comes to investment inflow. Everyone I know who has been to China has a great opinion of the people and the Law Enforcement auhorities there.

Its time Indians start living up to the creed: "Guest is like God himself."

Sumit, Did u ever doubt any 'story' uttered by some American?? or is it just 'Indian Police' and 'Indian ppl (witnesses)' who have special affinities with 'lies' and 'doubtful stories'??

I don't have much 'exposure' like u; Are there no petty crimes in US??
are these American are total 'doodh ke Dhule'?? are there no 'car theft' in US?

It is common to see some of these 'firangis' getting 'stoned' (doing, buying, selling drugs) at beaches (and other tourist places); i wonder what will be your opinion(s) if one of these firangi gets arrested (opinions apart from usual cribbing, Law and order is not good in INDIA, Police is involved in drug rackets, they arrested him/her for money, etc.. )

There are some good ppl in police force also, who do best of their abilities!!
give them a benefit of doubt (for a change)!! :)

The article says that the journalist had wounds on his body - thighs from lathi and his clothes were stained in blood.
Even if he tried to steal the car, why was he beaten so brutally? They could have arrested him and put him in lockup.

Here is the police story:

According to Balkishan, he was sleeping at his house when a guard, Kapil, informed him that a foreigner was trying to drive away with a taxi parked near his house. ``I informed the driver, Amandeep, and rushed down. For the next one hour, the man beat me up, vandalised the taxi and tried to even `buy' it for Rs 1000. He threw stones at the car and tried to run away. Unfortunately, he fell down and was injured on the forehead by the stones he was throwing. The police then removed him,'' he told Times City. Driver Amandeep alleged that the journalist had smashed the cab windows with his hands and opened the lock to enter the car.

So the journalist beat the man for 1 hr non-stop .... wow !! All those ppl sleeping near the taxi were watching the boxing match ... and exactly after 60 minutes .... they called the police because the fighters broke the time limit rule.
Also, the journalist injured himself from the stone he threw - defies physics - unless he had a teleportation machine from Star Trek and reached the end trajectory of the stone before the stone.

Firstly I enjoyed the audacity of delhi police. I am saying so because usually in India, people including police are very submissive to westerners, specially Americans. Unfortunately times are so that atrocity is respected more than gentleness. It is in thing to be a bad ass. Who knows who was at fault?

I would rather prefer to be pulled over at airport, if that is their reciprocation to our actions. Personally I dont think that they even care about such trivial matters. Finally Chinese investment inflow has nothing to do with their godly hospitality, it is their competitiveness.

Sumit and Sidarth bhai, how all of sudden TOI became so dear? I remember we all bash TOI for its crediblity and content or more precisely Indian Media.

No one has yet glorified the pain caused by flood in Indian states. Simply homeless people don't run wordpress blogs to tell 'horrible india' expedition?

Beating of a an American journalist by Delhi police doesnt fall even in periphery of crimes committed by USA to world. Why is it a hue and cry for human rights than n number of states America inavded for the sake of Petro Dollars.? That act is far far above shameless and disgusingly inhumane. With media's pressure those constable would get suspended or Delhi police chief would condem the act with apologies but who would do that for US?

Lately American police grabed a black guy who was a scholar in an University.
Obama had to pacify the event of police by offering the dine with black guy.

Recently, Two American journalists were captured in North Korea. They were caught for spying in North Korean territory. Bill Clinton had to apologise for them to get freed.

They can't see what US policeman do to South Asians or Africans. They are the toppers in Racism and discrimination. Still our own people condemn their own country by sitting outside the country.
 
I thought the discussion was about police brutality in INDIA. America has had its problems with race relations in the past. Most police over here is professional .. although there might be bad apples. Corruption and brutality in police is not institutionalized in America .... these may be isolated cases where a police officer exhibited unprofessional conduct.

I am not sure why some people are cheering police brutality. Jib thaare haad todenge police aale ... reet patakte aaoge er Jatland pe khoob gaal doge police aalan ne.

Middle eastern, East/Central Asian, south American nahi karte complaint US police ki? Only South Asian and African? ... What about aliens from andromeda galaxy? ... woh bhi pareshan honge America ki police te?

Shahrukh ki lath te pitai naa hui thi. Hazaron ki checking ho se rojh airport pe .. us din uski bhi ho gayi ... usne drama khada kar diya ... jyadatar log uske drame ka majaak uda rahe the. Nothing happened to Sharukh ... he was acting like a diva.

America main dilli police se ke? manne te dekhi nahi. Thodi bahut honge bhi te eeb tahi jail mein pahuch ge honge for corruption and assault.

Kal tai to TOI ne bishranta haande tha bhai. aaj uski khabar pe itna bhrosa hogya tane. Aaj tak to tane kade koe objection nahi karya US ki police pe. Delhi police ne 2 dande maar diye, to tere US me baithe baithe ke dil pe chot laag gi.


Ya teri US ki police wa e se jisne 9/11 ke baad hazaaron muslmaano ko detain kar diya tha bina vjah. Teri US ki police badi aachi se bina saboot 9-9 mhine detain karke rakhe. Daily they pissed off on their faces. Wo to bahut HUMAN laga tujhe. They treat every muslim like a terrorist, ho chahe na, par ek bar tohmat to jarur la de se. Special checking kare se teri US ki police muslims ki. Naam ke aage piche Khan ya Mohamed ho na to ye 2-2 3-3 bar checking kare se uski. Dhoodh ki nahayi hod na se ya teri US ki police.
Farak itna se ke India me to bhains moot de uski bhi khabar laage se tumne er Amrekia desh ne tabaah kar de wo uska adhikar ho gya thare tai.

Absolutely correct. These are inefficient, incompetent, ungrateful people just
shouting India ye hai India vo hai and they even can't open mouth there
otherwise kicked out from there as soon as they do. And in
India they even can't earn their living because of competition. They have
forgotten the education they got here is the only base on which they are in
America.

These are the real products of 1000 years of slavery.

Ke teri police laa rakhi sei ..... Meri konya police ... commissioner te tu se ... sare South Asian ki complaint ka register tere charge mein sei.
Losers crying sore grapes ... visa likadte hi .. agle din airline ticket khreedo ge ... ghani hawa mein naa hanka karein ... aadhe te aade eeb bhi America related company mein kaam karte honge ... faaltu jhik jhik drama ... hawabaazi. I think many of us have gone off-topic. As Sid pointed out, my issue was with the American Journalist being beaten up by Delhi Police. I remember a mob molesting another American Journalist when the Bombay (sic) Hotel seige was going on.

I don't think my outrage was directed towards entire India and its people. I just have a problem with the way Delhi Police handled this case. I think I have always been outraged by Police brutality in India.

I have lived in America for quite some time now. I have been treated well by the people. Yes, there were some instances that gave me my "WTF moments," but people have bee largely respectful and welcoming. My encounters with Law Enforcement agencies have always left me wondering why we cant have similar professionalism in India.

Yes, America has its problems. We can blame its Government for some of its foreign policy blunders. But, why does a poor Journalist have to pay for the actions of George W. Bush and Barack Obama?

I care for India and its people. Thats where my roots are. The affection will always be there. I believe thats the reason I feel hurt when things like these happen in India. I want to be proud of the place where I come from. I want people to beleive positively about India. But, unfortunately incidents like these hinder people from have nice thoughts about India.
