Deepshi you will be knowing more about that since u live there.
My point was that these people are making ho-halla when an American is beaten up in India, and calling it SHAMELESS, but they did not even make a slight noise when Indians were attacked in AUS (at least one person (Indian)would have been beaten up there. isn't it?M counting JUST ONE) So are australians also shameless?? If you call them so, then will they take up this tag easily?? Just curious to know:)
okkk now that u pulled me in so I owe a reply

Slight voice did say?
the taxi drivers here were marching half naked...the same taxi drivers who rip the Cust off, cabs filled with stench n who dont even know the destinations to popular landmarks...and who are the FIRST impression for any person travelling interstate or from other countries..
And I was reading blogs on Herald Sun..there was quite a fury..n yes..not by Indians but the Aussies here who completely disapproved n abhored the act of attack on Indians...n i doubt if they have any axe to grind...

moreover..u said "one" do u have any account of how many people are attacked in Shining India everyday..u wont...coz there are numerous so u cant keep track..

Maaaaennnn..donno bout US or Europe but m amazed by the level of tolerance in people here..bighearted enough to overlook other's bad attitude or disposition!

so much to write...
will continue ..if the cobwebs need to be cleared

Ha ha :D :boxing

sunil even like sumit i somehow believe journalist bcoz i know americans nature to intervene if somebody is getting hurt.we indians mostly play it safe ..watch and leave.

Ritu ji, few years back, a country called United States attacked another country called Iraq claiming that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. That country was bombed to stone-age (more or less).Thousands of civilians got killed, Many Kids lost their limbs!! Irony, बेचारे इराक धोरे हैण्ड- ग्रेनेड भी ना पाए..
even today innocent ppl are getting killed in Afghanistan as well as in Iraq.

Any thoughts about this 'american nature'?? what happened of that nature of 'intervening if somebody is getting hurt'?? जब तक इराकी मरण लाग रहे हैं ना कोए अमेरिकन ना बोल्या.

yaa fir Iraqi human naa hain??

nope...read again I said I DONNO BOUT U.S. OR EUROPE
N Mate, this is planet Earth,,not heaven,,cant sanitize or criminal proof any country

yeah i read it carefully deepshi. U told that we can't keep records of such attacks in India since they are huge. I just asked if there are no attcks in the places I mentioned.

I too agree that you can't sanitize the countries, but at least we should not use "Shameless" for our motherland.
Desh ko sudhar nahi sakte to usko gali bhi mat do. My view is as simple as that.

I m telling what i have observed generally here.mostly americans do not approve war against iraq that is the one of the reason obama could win this election.

Deshbhakti dikhani thee te fauj mien bharti kyun na huyaa? Kare se "love your country love your parents" aali baat!

Jis ka jadey jee karyaa huddey bass gaya. Not all leave India because they have a problem with the country. They leave the country because they have other reasons like curiosity, bigger ambitions etc.

But still, what does patriotism have to do with the ill-treatment of a visitor in India?
here the power isnt in Mario`s hand :p..kimmey na thanedar ney CHOW mein dhar diyey hongey.....;)

Ritu ji, same 'most Americans' elected G. Bush 2nd time during ongoing 'war on terror'. No?? BTW what Mr. Obama has done so far?? Pulled back us+nato troops from Iraq ?? deployment of more troops??

Anyways, my post was not about what americans have done in Iraq or elsewhere. I was surprised to see Sumit's comment that he doesn't believe in Delhi Police or eye witnesses statement but WILL believe whatever Drunken american will say!!

Here is some excerpt from same TOI report:
=============

"According to sources close to the journalist — who was in AIIMS for the better part of the day on Wednesday — the incident happened when he was returning to his home at Jangpura Extension on October 6 1. around 3.30 am after seeing off two of his friends who live a few blocks away. They claimed 2. he was walking in complete darkness when he bumped into four policemen near Bhogal market who were beating up a man. 3. Elliott happened to come close to one of the cops who had raised his stick and the blow landed on him. He yelled out in pain, the sources said.

Furious at his yelling and considering 4. it to be a signal of his protest, the police beat him on the spot after cornering him,'' it was alleged. ``5. A shocked Elliott then punched one of the cops and tried to run away. 6. In confusion, he ran for a while before he could locate his house. Realising that the cops would get him if he entered it, he desparately searched for a place to hide.
7.Finding a cab with dark glasses, he decided to try his luck and forced himself in.''

Awesome theory !! :D

It was a Shameless act!!! :D the protectors themselves are not supposed to behave that way anywhere!!! Period.

Yup, that's right, so count my vote in too...;) [Aare Sumit, Sid - kyalein baawli baatan mein padd rahe ho yaaron!?!]
...remember that famous quote about 'fools', 'arguments', 'their level', 'beating by experience'???

I fail to see why do you or anybody else for that matter needs to bother respond or explain to mindless queries from trolls/baiters; either to prove a point and/or worse still; your allegiance to the homeland to any Tick, 'Dim'-sum and Hankie, ....why? who the hell are they anyways to chest-beat and demand that?... The topic of the thread and the issue is what it is, let 'em take it or trash off! [My recommendation to those would be to start their own thread about some great selfless acts for the only 'nation' they mebbe lookin' out for- the one everyone knows as 'No.1', that's right, make no smoke and mirrors BS about it, those guys fooling no one except maybe their silly mongoloid neighbor 'Ramu'....:D]

So move on my friends; not worth it! Frustrated folks simply trying to constantly remind their own pitiful self warding off the three fingers (in vain) of the same 'issue' they pointing singular fingers about... likely looking for redemption for some unknown selfish past acts or motives and it always wud be wasting precious time and breath with such losers. ;)

Hmmm, coming back to the topic; bade-bade sheron ki choti-choti galiyon mein aisi baatein hoti rehti hein (no, I did not mean about unfortunately running into some silly wannabe computer-chair warriors) but the Police-waala incident!
You know the bottom line is, bad apples are everywhere (again talking about the Police-aale 'maama's'), on top of that there are these serious doubts about the idiotic media reporting and frankly, if not-really guilty, the guy should probably thank his stars that he escaped with his life; corrupt policemen probably don't like leaving such loose ends much!

ps. BTW Raj is right; this is great popcorn and beer material... I especially had great merriment when after fully baiting one into a corner, and getting snapped back the other then promptly ran crying foul to the admins... :D:D:D Have some backbone, dude!

Bhai Mere! you need to separate the American Government from American people themselves. Why beat up a poor helpless guy because his country's President bombed the crap out of another country?

Exactly! Let me make it clear that even here in the US there are some cases of Police brutality every now and then. But, the overall level of Professionalism of the Law Enforcement Agencies is highly commendable. All reported cases of Police brutality are extensively investigatedThe bad apples are severely punished for abusing there power.

I have been pulled over a couple of times for "moving violations." But, my most major brush with Law Enforcement happened a couple of years ago. This happened in deep (racist)South. I will keep the story short. I got into an argument with a girlfriend. It all started with the bacon in my gravy. I told her that I do not eat pork. She got all psycho about it and alleged that I did not like her cooking. While I was trying to cool her down, I put my hand on her arm. And that was it. She called the cops on me for believe it or not "DOMESTIC VIOLENCE."

At that moment I thought I was a turkey. I had heard of all those stories of Police bias against non-white people. Three cop cars came within five minutes. I thought that was the end of it all for me. They put me against my car and frisked me. Then they heard my story. After that they made me wait outside the house and went inside the house to hear my girlfriends story.

By now I was wondering who am I going to make my one free call from the slammer. The cops came out in 15 minutes and while I thought they were moving towards me to arrest me, they told me to take my stuff and leave. They thought my girlfriend was out of it and needed to see a shrink. One of the cops winked at me said: "take my suggestion, go find someone else, shes nuts."

I am sure that incident could have played otherwise also. But overall this incident highlights the professionalism of Law Enforcement agencies here in the US. A few bad apples do not speak for the largely good cops.

Police in India has a long way to catch up with the civilized world when it comes to professionalism. Incidents like the one with the American journalist scare people into asking Police for help. If the Police is not going to be there to help, where are the helpless people going to go for help?

I'm glad, not for what happned to you, but that you narrated your story here. Hopefully it'll help people understand the difference better.

Well, I have one too to tell when I was lost driving ..(yeah no GPS at that time) ..pitch dark in the night and how this cop helped me to get back to my destination. I agree with you totally Sumit.. "Police in India has a long way to catch up with the civilized world when it comes to professionalism."

I agree to what you said. :)
So from now on I won't respond to such people dragging me in such controversies

I agree that people living outside country are True lovers of their country. Jo yaha rahte hai either they only eat sore grapes or they are Shameless!;)

You people carry on the discussion :)
