My comments are also not there, may be moderators doesn't like our comments, nothing was wrong in my comments, I just said same gotra marriage is just like marriage of real bro-sis, still unable to understand whats wrong in this, why my comments deleted.

Moderators should clear this thing that if something written is not as moderators want will be deleted without any reason whether it is absolutely correct.

I had posted my comments on this thread on 19 May 2010 but today I could not find my comments. My comments may not be matching your views but those were my views and on a social network site such comments should not be deleted. I think my comments were not objectionable. Mentioning that in Congress Party only views of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi prevail and that Govt amended law to favour a particular religion cannot be treated objectionable by any stretch of imagination. I am a Jat and I am at liberty to have my own views. If you allow only those views which suit your thinking than call this site as a private site and not a social network site. Please post my comments or at least reply me so that others or at least myself do not waste time to post comments in future.

SIRSA: Haryana, with its skewed sex ratio and belligerent khaps, never ceases to surprise. Notorious for its mediaeval ways, it has now elected a village sarpanch via bids — effectively dumping the established democratic norms for assured development.

The bids were called in Dabwali’s Panniwala Morikan village, where the sarpanch’s post went to Jagdeep Singh after he came up with the highest offer of Rs 11 lakh. The decision to auction the grassroot-level democratic office was a mutual one.

In a panchayat meeting called on Thursday, the 11 contenders for sarpanch’s post were asked to submit a development roadmap, complete with expenditure details.

“Jagdeep Singh was the highest bidder. He agreed to spend a whopping sum of Rs 11 lakh on welfare works,” Amarjeet Singh, general secretary of the Block Congress Committee, told TOI.

“Rs 11 lakh is a very large amount, but the election expenses could have been higher. That is why I chose to spend the amount on development,” a beaming Jagdeep confessed to TOI on Saturday. Curiously, DC Yudhveer Singh Khayaliya denied any knowledge of the incident that the villagers are raving about.

Hooda further pinned a badge of legitimacy on khaps, describing them as informal social organizations.

Hooda has been skirting the issue, with statements like no one would be allowed to take law into their hands. However, on Thursday, he made his stand clear at a press conference in Rohtak, though he clarified that it was his ‘‘personal’’ view.

“Khap panchayats work as informal social organizations like NGOs. But any such organization must work in conformity with the law of the land. If any organization does good work, it earns appreciation. Same is the case with khap panchayats,’’ he said.

Dear Ravi,

Problem with us is that we (not just Jats but all Indians ) still follow years old orthodx traditions which might not be relevant in the current scenario. Also we force these customs as society as a whole to all irrespective of the fact what does an individual/family wants. It is there with regrad to marriage ,eductaion , job , religion, caste etc. Thats y students suicide when they fail, parents done even bother to think twice before killing their own kins..We need to be more tolerant and at least develop some humanity ..I am not questioning Khaps origin , their need and so on..all I am saying that todya khaps are forced one , they are not required, they might be required some decades back but not now..also yes present Khaps are corrupt, politically inclined and selfish. By comparing them by Taliban I only meant to say thet as Taliban forces age old traditions to the society , same does these Khaps do . I am not against intra-gotra marriages because earlier when clan was small then in-breeding might be the issue but now its too huge personally I would not like to maintain sister like relationship with any stranger just bcos she is of smae gotra..and my whole point is lets rise above al these petty issues and work for the social development , if these Khaps are so concerned about the social issues then girl infanticide, child marriage, dowry etc would have not been there . I at least expect young educated youth like us and MP like Jindal should not fall into Khaps propaganda.
And here I have just huge harsh language these guys (Khaps) deserve harsh punsihment , just ask the mother how she feels whose son and daughter in law got killed in front of her eyes.

They are not fools , in fact they are very clever and they know that Khaps control their votebanks and so they can't afford to annoy them

Thats what my point , people are so brainwashed, boycotted socially, tortured ,publicly humiliated .....that they dare to take lives that too of their own children. All this becos 2 indi are in love and wnt to marry.. they are not harming anyone ..y ppl are more interested in others' personal/family matters and even if they do y to harrass them .

समर भाई, नविन जिंदल ते निरा बनिया निकला ! मैंने उसका एक इंटरव्यू सुना था, जिसमे हालाकि कुछ बातें उसने अच्छे तरीके से समझाई और खाप पंचायत के रोल को सराहा भी लेकिन गोत्र मामले में वह उलझा हुआ नजर आया!
उसकी व्यक्तिगत राय में, अपने ही गोत्र में शादी करने में उसे कोई दोष नजर नहीं आया !
दरअसल, जब उससे उसके बच्चों के बारे में पूछा गया तब उसका जवाब था, उसे कोई एतराज नहीं होगा! इस तरह के बयां से भ्रम पैदा होता है !
लगता है पार्टी आलाकमान की झिडकी से डर गया! फिर भी उसने कुछ अच्छा ही किया है !
