Its hard to scrap reservation based on caste by political parties due to fear of losing votes. Agreed. But they can do the below.

Give reservation to Jats. Then muslims are demanding reservations give it to them. Sikhs want reservation too. Give it.
Give reservation to whole north-east tribal belt (not just ST and other OBC). Soon Rajput would demand it. Grant.

Than except bhramins and baniyas all will be under reservations. I am sure they would want it too at that stage.

We all would be under reservation. There is already a clause in the OBC category that certain rich and hingh ranked officer wont cant enjoy reservation benifits. So ultimately only the poors or middle cast Indian would enjoy it.


Than it would be bit easier for these political people to scrap this reservation (which was initially started for a limited time only). Rather than reservation politics they can devote their time and energy in making and implementing schemes for the upliftment of poor. The poor dont need reservation they need upliftment and awareness. Due to this reservation sometime a few undeserving people get elected for higher and responcible posts which is no good for anyone. Only derserving poors should get elected. Provide them free/subcidised food, free/subcidised education and give them a fair change to compete. Thats all these poor need not ur reservation politics. People would happily pay their tax for this purpose.

But some feel that the reservation should carry on for the Deserving without diluting it.

I don't think it is either a simple miss or a prejudice. If you strongly believe in something, and then look for evidence to support that, you can find a plenty- it is called selection bias. That's why most research have to start from an unbiased sample, to the extent possible.

Now it so happens that the media just gives more attention to the olympic shooting events. Indian media is not alone in this, though it would be more extreme in giving prominence to those who win in olympic events, given our abysmal records in olympics, asiad, commonwealth, etc. The championship is being held in UK- yet I have not read about it anywhere in the media here. Seema Tomar is not the only one who was not given prominence by the media. Ronjan Sodhi not only won the gold, but also created a world record. Though you can find these news in the papers, but they are not being covered prominently. It is indeed sad for the athletes. But such examples would be dime a dozen, from all over India.

The second point that conclusively defeats your theory is contrary evidence. The likes of Vijender Singh and Saina Nehwal have been feted and celebrated like anyone else. In fact Vijender Singh who won a Bronze has been celebrated much much more (appearance in TV programs, celebrity events, etc.) than Bindra who won a Gold. Can Bindra's caste use that argument to show how media is favorably biased to Jats over them? No, because Vijender got all this limelight as he is more of an extrovert and chose to be in limelight unlike Bindra.

Conspiracy theories are best way to rule illiterate masses. Majority of Kashmiris don't take their kids for vaccinations because majority of them think that vaccines will make their wards impotent and eventually they'll become minority in Valley.

The entire water blockage happened due to tacit support from Mayawati. She let it happened because by doing that she conveyed the support for reservation to jats. She is doing it to get mileage in UP elections, this is going to help her later. If you would think a bit more, you would realize that the Ajit Singh's party RLD was not there in the agitation. RLD is the only jat party having considerable influence in Western UP. By supporting Yashpal Malik, Mayawati is supporting indirectly another alternative to RLD. That is going to divide Jat votes which will in turn help BSP. That;s why she is supporting reservation of Jats wholeheartedly. Secondly she can then claim ki usne jaton ko reservation dilaya hai and that Jat are nolw also in the same category as Chamars, so that is going to boost her ego as well . 1. My blood boils when I look at problems in our villages. Many times I approached electricity office if they can give at least single phase supply in the evening so that our kids can study. No one cared. I requested many times the SDM to visit village to see for himself the day to day problems. He was not willing to travel even 2 km. Though I am all against violance. However, if peaceful methods don't work and there is no hope that they would work, Jats or for that matter anyone has the right to use what ever methods they deem fit.

2. I read in one of the post that the trouble makers will be arrested. What a cowardly statement. Were our leaders not arrested during freedom movement? Were leaders not arrested during emergency? Those who are worried of being arrested, can not lead or get respect for the nation or community. Can any government dare to arrest 10 lac people??

Whether one calls them reservation or call them by any other name is not the issue. There is urgent need of extending helping hand to our fellows in villages. Since majority of Jats in India live in villages (unlike Banias or Brahmans etc), Jats, gujjar etc are the most affected people. I can say with full conciction that 90% Jats in India can not pay for the technical or higher education of their kids.

If Jats have shed blood for protecting the nation, they have every right to demand the benefits as well. If peaceful methods don't work, agitations are fully justified.

Now coming to so called CWGs. Let government of India make our rural people also stake holders in these events. Why can't they give 10-15% free passes to our rural people so that they can watch the games. As of now this is all elite India's show and rural folks have no clue what this is all about. In the name of games many people have made tons of money. Contracts are awared literraly at gun point because of time dead lines. anyway unrabn India will argue CWG importance from their own interest point of view. Lately I find it very hard to think universal when I see 75% of our rural people suffering because of indifferent attitude of urbanites. Honestly speaking I won't care if Jats or for that matter any deprived section of our society decided to disrupt parliament or CWGs to get their reasonable demands addressed. If national respect is so important, how come it is related only with what urban India wants. Where is national respect gone when it comes to the living conditions of rural India.

1. Sir, I completely understand the anguish and the frustration due to the problems that we have in our country. There are still villages in India without any electricity line. But, again I fail to see the alleviation of these problems with reservation or from our agitation for reservation.

2. I completely agree with this point but I guess what the author meant earlier was to keep the agitation within the parameters so as not to cause national disruption and embarrassment. Our people in North India are already suffering from the shortage of water supply and electricity. Then a sect of society in India is torturing them for its personal gains. Why the former should be penalized. Should I be twisting the arms of children and my neighbors and keep them hostages to negotiate for my personal motives? I think this cannot be acceptable.

I completely agree that there is need to bring the benefits to the rural population of India (all communities, even they shed their bloods for India). So, I feel that we need to work out a different strategy and demands for the same. Even though 90% of the rural population cannot afford the fees, after reservation, 99% will still not be covered by such minuscule benefits.

1. My blood boils when I look at problems in our villages. Many times I approached electricity office if they can give at least single phase supply in the evening so that our kids can study. No one cared. I requested many times the SDM to visit village to see for himself the day to day problems. He was not willing to travel even 2 km. Though I am all against violance. However, if peaceful methods don't work and there is no hope that they would work, Jats or for that matter anyone has the right to use what ever methods they deem fit.

2. I read in one of the post that the trouble makers will be arrested. What a cowardly statement. Were our leaders not arrested during freedom movement? Were leaders not arrested during emergency? Those who are worried of being arrested, can not lead or get respect for the nation or community. Can any government dare to arrest 10 lac people??

Whether one calls them reservation or call them by any other name is not the issue. There is urgent need of extending helping hand to our fellows in villages. Since majority of Jats in India live in villages (unlike Banias or Brahmans etc), Jats, gujjar etc are the most affected people. I can say with full conciction that 90% Jats in India can not pay for the technical or higher education of their kids.

If Jats have shed blood for protecting the nation, they have every right to demand the benefits as well. If peaceful methods don't work, agitations are fully justified.

Now coming to so called CWGs. Let government of India make our rural people also stake holders in these events. Why can't they give 10-15% free passes to our rural people so that they can watch the games. As of now this is all elite India's show and rural folks have no clue what this is all about. In the name of games many people have made tons of money. Contracts are awared literraly at gun point because of time dead lines. anyway unrabn India will argue CWG importance from their own interest point of view. Lately I find it very hard to think universal when I see 75% of our rural people suffering because of indifferent attitude of urbanites. Honestly speaking I won't care if Jats or for that matter any deprived section of our society decided to disrupt parliament or CWGs to get their reasonable demands addressed. If national respect is so important, how come it is related only with what urban India wants. Where is national respect gone when it comes to the living conditions of rural India.
