We should not get bogged down in petty matters.

Our broad goals;

1. Upliftment of our community.

2. Upliftment of all rural communities

3. Teaching our younger generation, culture and values,

3.1. This includes avoidance of same Goth marriage
3.2 Encourage Marriage of widows.
3. 3 Avoid marriage in same village

4.1 Demand government to:

a) lay fiber optics trunk to each village and connect every household to internet
b) link primary schools to central location , with interactive T V, for lessons
c) Teach English to all kids

This so that our children can be equipped to face the challenges of the 21st century,
5. This must be done in Time line.

Resources must be committed now, NGO to run this, with khap members on Governing board

This is the time to get the funds, while community is the focus.

Please raise this at Meham

Those who wish are free to call me to discuss

Bhai Ravinderjeet, Raviji & Rakeshji, Thanks for your kind suggestions, I personally, also believe in above points. Raviji, thanks for reminding the point of internet service to villages Rakesh Mr OP Mann spoke to me other day who told me that meeting of 17 is for elders to discuss & take some decisions & on 01 aug, there is rally (mass gethering), anyway I will checkup again, thanks, regards

Ideally in this country demand should be:
A uniform marriage act for every community. Change the name of HMA to IMA (Indian Marriage Act).

Even as per Kuran: A muslim can have upto 4 wives if he treats all 4 wives equal. Does that happen?

If they can have their rule based on the prophet's life or a book written by someone than my Ramayna also says (Dasrath & Ravan and many other example like Krishna than a Hindu can also have upto 4 or more wives.

But is Govt ready for this. Lol no? I cant see that happening in the next 150 years. I really want only one marriage act in this country. Abolish SMA. There shouldn’t be any.

Abolish Reservation instead provide free education and monetary help to poors.
But again this is not going to happen.

Ideally the demand should be for the above two. All community should come together and demand this.

Otherwise, as I have already said my point of view, Amend HMA to ban 'same gotra and same village' marriage. Demand reservation for Jats.

Why? I have already explained y in other threads.

sab ta pahlya to aap log HMA allaa ae haal kaad lyo... kyuki maine koni laagta ke 27 paachhe ye madrasi bahman khaap naam ta koi panchayat hon denge....

Fateh Sir, A spokesman/representative should be agreed upon , who can interact with Media..It seems lately that too many people are speaking to media , giving wrong/illogical statements , showing emotional outburst which in turn paints the community in black in society's eye.

In spite of utterances by some khap leaders in support of honour killings in their individual capacity, I believe that no khap Punchayat endoses or supports any kind of bodily harm or killing some one for defying social norms. Also there is no denial to the fact that khaps have been projected wrongly taking sides with the killers! To clear any doubts in this regards, I have a couple of suggestions.

1) A public relations team needs to be formed headed by somebody experienced with excellent communication skills. Any statement to the media should be through the PR team. The role of Khap Punchayats needs to be projected in right perspective.

2) The Mahapunchayat needs to pass a resolution that it condemns not only the honor killing but also any kind of violent means in maintaining and protecting social traditions that are sacred to us, particular the same Gotra marriages.
Khap Punchayats would use the traditional means of ‘social boycott’ against errant individuals, couples and families.

3) Not to resort to forceful tactics like ‘road jam’, cutting water suppy etc and loose moral support from others but adhered to peaceful agitation in demanding the amendment in the HMA.

Thanks and best wishes for the forthcoming Mahapunchayat!

Deshwal ji

Which Khap leader has supported this so called" honour killing"?/

Do you have any details?

I have not been able to find any such case!

Ravi Ji

Do you recognize this personality?
I may be wrong but to me, this man advocating death sentence is none other than our Balyan khap head Sh. Mahender Singh Tikait.

Cheers!

I would go easy on what is claimed that he said or what is attributed his followers.

The allegation is at odds with his record.

Even D R Chaudhry, who is not particularly pro the community, recognizes that.

Mr. Chaudhry claims that Balyan Khap is progressive, under Tikait's leadership.

See: post # 9

http://www.jatland.com/forums/showt...ame-gotra-village-marriages-how-far-good-fair

quote :

" Relaxed norms in the Balian Khap have made it progressive in some ways. It has thrown up a powerful peasant movement under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Tikait. Marital disputes hardly find place in the records of this khap.

As late as March 7, 2010, a Sarv khap panchayat at Shamli resolved to launch a campaign in villages to apply a curb on wasteful expenditure in marriages, community feast on the death of an elder, increasing use of liquor and other intoxicants by the youth, female foeticide, etc. Such a reformist exercise is unthinkable in Haryana’s khaps as the marital relationship is the only agenda they take up in all seriousness, perfunctory talk of other things notwithstanding."

Both versions cannot be true.

To be progressive and retrograde at the same time?

All we want is these so called journalists to do accurate reporting!

Ravi ji,

My bad!I was in a hurry this morning and forgot to post the link, here it goes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRuhaX4kcW0

Cheers!

Thank you posting the video.

It is most helpful.

If asked today, Tikait would undoubtedly clarify that that is not what he meant to say.

That was my entire point.

Phrases like 'Maro, maro', 'Murdabad' are quite common in Hindi parlance.

We do not take them seriously.

If that was so, we would have killings as the norm, and not as an exception. Certainly no Panchayat is sanctioning it.

In this case it was, as you put it, an " utterance". - rhetoric.

Let us leave it at that.

Coming back to the topic:

We need to making the community stronger, and to do that we need to have it capable of dealing with the challenges and opportunities of the 21 Century,

We need a dynamic community, that is not mired in, not chained to the past.

Our kids need education, and income generating opportunies in the villages, so that they do not have to move to the city, and take up security guard jobs.

Here the opportunity presented by the technolgy of Broadband internet, solar power, and transformation of moribund empty primary schools in villages is enormous.

We need to have

1) Government lay down a fibre optic network to every village, every house.

2) Have government set up interactive distance learning, using TV and tablet computers. Every child in the village( irrespective of caste/Jath, should have access to one. This has worked in Australia, it will work in India. Run the education centre from the city, so that finding qualified faculty is not a problem.

3_) English must be a compulsory subject. Our kids from the villages need to world competitive.

4) Our traditions must be part of the curriculum, upto Grade 12.

This will develop knowledge power, our younger generation can set up businesses from the village- IT, Biotech, Agri genetics, horticulture, research labs, Educational Institutes. The list is endless.

Broadband internet should get the highest priority.

Create the environment, the people will look after the rest.

The timing is now, to ask for funds/resources.

Strike while the iron is hot.

Leaders like Kapil Sibal, Kamal Nath, Rahul Gandhi, Navin Jindal, Deependra Hooda, and other new leaders have to be co opted.

Let us rise above pettiness.

Fateh ji - Good luck on that day

Best regards

If this is inclusive as a matter of serious discussion, exchange of opinions, and committed agenda for future plan of action then my best wishes are with organisers and participants; And if it is just for political mileage.. and just for a want to be popular over net... then i am sorry to say that such people, who want to bake their political bread over such heart touching issues, are doing wrong things... implementation of any decision taken there should also be the prime concern of the people who organise & attend this Mahapanchayat...

I support the worthy points raised by Mr.Ravi Chaudhary.

We must focus on strengthening employable education. Need to think out of the box.

Our ultimate aim is community development. Just focussing on JAT reservation we are sending message of only votebank politics. Which leaders are doing on name of JAT reservation for last two decades. Leaders raised issue only when there concerned party is in opposition.

Reservation is a mean to social upliftment. Why not include issues on development?
Prepare a precise mandate for the issues to be raised in public agitation during stopping water, electricity...and circulate it through print media and social networking website like, twitter, facebook, e-mails etc. so that it will reflect positive impression on indian citizens.

They know our demand is not bound to reservation. We need social upliftment.
Noteworthy points in this regard can be found in the threads above by visionary honourable members.

Bottomline, send positive message to all Indians that we are not trying to hijack the system with our planned agitations but
making the governemnt to resolve the pending issues within timeline including our reservation. OR stop the quota system and
apply it on BPL basis not on caste system. We PDS (Public distribution system) for BPL (Below Poverty line) only for food.
Today news headline Sonia madam give helping hand to poor by offering foodgrains to BPL 35kg/ month.
When helping hand for education, health, balanced diet, employment will come. Even after 60 years of independence struggling for
basic needs. Government playing with people by putting them in vicious circle.

JAT rallies with Khap's should address social upliftment issues touching lives at bottom of pyramid.
On the other hand, keep sticking on demands favouring JAT community development.
It will hopefully, provide ground to khaps to improve their image at national level.
Will be a lesson to media which highlighting only negative image of Khaps.
