@Deswal Sahab: Indulgence spoils the children and that is what mothers have been doing for ages. A father's love and affection towards his children is always coupled with pragmatism and long-term objective of making them successful and responsible citizens. Exceptions apart, mothers are usually devoid of this vision. There is, however, no question mark on the intensity of their love but a father's attachment and affection is by no means lesser. As a father, I would feel hurt, if my children do not recognize my role as a responsible and affectionate father simply because of the fact that at times I have to show some rigidity for inculcating good values and enforce upon them a reasonable degree of discipline which is a pre-requisite for their being successful in life. So the only difference is that mothers have the ability to express their sentimentalism in a better way by shedding tears. To the contrary fathers prefer to hold back their emotions and its outlet - the tears - since the shedding of tears and emotional outbursts are considered to be feminine traits which run counter to their masculinity.
However, as a son/daughter, we are duty-bound to show all respect towards our parents and must do everything possible to keep them happy. By doing so we will be setting a good example to emulate by our own children as we will also need the same care and respect when we will become old and incapacitated. Therefore, we have better set a good example.
