N-plant will affect health: Chautala

I think, there is no harm in establishing the plant in the area proposed, also Indians are much more capable in all respect to lookafter the plant. There is no dearth of good, sincere, dedicated, careful & intelligent people in our country to do the job. However, my worry is, this plant may not shift to punjab or some other state after the bye election in Haryana

Respected Sir
In India,17 nuclear power plants are operating across the country with high degree of safety. There is no single incident comes in picture of stealing fuel rods or anything. Plants are run by highly educated people from reputed institutes of country. I feel they will not steal fuel rod for a bottle of scotch.Still at some wrongs persons are always there, for that Every plant under CISF security.

the reason Indian plants haven't had any mishap is due to following
1. Most nuke plants were not working at their peak performance level due to unavailability of fuel that is lack of. enriched uranium.
2. Other nuke plants were used for basic research programmes.
3. We are still dependent on other nuke powers for much of the parts. Sometimes our Nuke power plants were shut down due to lack of parts availability, we still don't have the expertise to design or develop 1000MW plants.
4. It is the highly educated people from highly reputed colleges who call themselves elite and have certain amount of disdain toward general population are the biggest chor of all time. In my experience I have more faith in diligence of a marginally educated janitor than these educated elites. Furthermore, with notable exceptions most of these educated elites of Top Notch technical schools were full of just paper knowledge. Ask them to solve a problem you will draw a blank stare from them but that's another discussion.

Is anybody in Chautla's family know the difference between fusion and fission . It looks quite strange that how come these people draw conclusions.
I am sure even our CM doesn't know the difference.. though he may be thinking to supply heavy water to Rohtak as he may be thinking that it'll make rohtak ppl more DABANG

whether its opening of ठर्रा shop in a locality of civilized (???) people or opening of a nuclear plant... every well informed citizen has its role to play nd when it comes to politicians, they have an 'extra' role to play, cos they are responsible for millions they represent. any development/non dev. must have their approval on the draft proposal. it does not matter whether tht politician is in power or not. मुद्दे ख़त्म नहीं होने चाहियें. पीपल मस्ट बी कैप्ट बिज्ज़ी.

what surety we have that the water we drink does not have traces of lead or mercury or arsenic or any other toxic metal ?
what surety we have that the air we inhale is free frm toxic gases or suspended particles ?
what surety we have tht the produce coming frm hissar or rohtak fields have allowable limits of pesticides ?

we are drinking poison, we are inhaling poison, we are eating poison.

when poison is all around, lets pledge that we must not stop any development where our political goons get chance to gulp millions of tax payer's money. if a goon not in power does not get that, obviously he'll make a large hue nd cry.

Karan sir,
How the capacity of plant is related to the safety??? I think all the plants are designed for 100 % capacity.
Research is the integral part of design and we are quite young in nuclear research field. After Nuclear test explosions in 1974, Many sanctions had been put up on us by international community. So it will take time to reach up to that level(1000 MW). Still we will able to design 17 nuclear reactor which are working safely. That's an achievement.
In early years many of our IITians joined the BARC training schools. Those are the people who are responsible for designing of these plants and operated these plants successfully. Exceptions are always there. It may be possible some persons are wrong. But we can't generalize like the way you have did.

I don't think we are better than Japan in any way Except producing kids.

So how many people are here who support nuclear Plant In Haryana?

truely said Rakesh,,..!!
I am totally against nuclear energy,,,we should harness renewable sources of energy,,which is clean and good for environment.

Any nuclear facility, anywhere in the world is a 'disaster in waiting'. Once a disaster happens, it not only results in immediate loss to life but it also contaminates the environment for years. There is no technology that is available to deal with the contamination and it's left for it's natural decay. The decay, in theory, never completes, it's just that the intensity of the radiation goes down over years.

The risks are too high. The cheap electricity that they produce is only meaningful for greedy business people. A common person would rather limit his/her consumption then taking the life threating risk.

Limiting the consumption and more efficient use of natural resources is the only solution. Until off-course humans find another unexploited earth and a technology that can make travel times at least less then half of their lifespan.

:D

Number of people who died in the WORST nuclear accident i.e., Chernobyl was ONLY 20-30.

In recent nuclear DISASTER i.e., Fukushima-Japan, NO one has died so far because of radiation poisoning. 2 dead bodies were found near the site and it is likely that these death were because of other reasons.

On the other hand, recent tsunami in Japan has killed thousands and damaged property worth millions of $$. And hundreds of thousand died in south-east Asia few years back. I wonder if it is possible to advise people from all coastal cities around the world to move 20-30 kms away from the sea. After all you never know when next tsunami is coming!!

If nuclear reactors are 'disaster in waiting' then what about dams? Are not they disaster in waiting?
What if a dam burst because of a major earthquake? what if oil refinery catches fire? Or what if a coal-mine collapses trapping and killing hundreds of workers?

A pesticide plant KILLED 15,000 people and injured over 500,000 [Bhopal-union carbide]; No modern "nuclear reactor" can do worse!

Emphasis on safety of nuclear reactors: yes. Ban on nuclear energy: NO.

Land acquisition a hurdle: Expert

Haryana plans second nuclear power plant
Kitlana in Bhiwani or Balsamand in Hisar likely site

http://www.tribuneindia.com/2011/20110419/main3.htm

There should not be any problem in land acquisition around Bhiwani belt. There is enough barren land available for setting up industries and Nuke plants. Yes there should not be any other IMT -2 in Manesar. The fertile land in Manesar produces more than three crops in a year. It seems CM Hooda is looking for quick and dirty money before finishing up his last term in Haryana :D

Protests against land acquisition
Haryana government wants to acquire 1,800 acres of land near IMT to form IMT-2. Villagers are opposing it.Industrial Welfare Association of Manesar and villagers have formed an organization "Upjaoo Bhoomi Sanrakhsan Andolan" which is against rapid industrialization of fertile land and way below market rate of their lands which Government is giving them.Over the period of time agricultural production in the greater Manesar area has dipped substantially. A report prepared by the industrial association and the farmers organization, Fertile Land Protection Movement (FLPM), shows that if the remaining 6,000 acres are acquired by the HSIIDC for industrial development, the region will lose around 14,000 tonnes of food grains.
The report suggests that industrial habitation should be allowed only on land which does not produce more than one crop, whereas the land in Manesar produces at least three major crops twice a year. The soil in Manesar is very fertile and quite suitable for agriculture as it is very loose, said a representative of FLPM.
Beside the loss of food grain, very sizable losses in the production of fruits and vegetables are also expected. The land produces around 9,000 tonnes of vegetables, and over 11,000 tonnes of various fruits.Farmers of manesar fear it will be lost.Industrialists say that when Present IMT is in extreme bad shape and half empty then why Government is showing hurry in acquiring this land.
Irrigation and Forest Minister Ajay Singh Yadav, an Ahir leader, the MLA from Rewari is against the acquisition of land by the government. Also according to locals Manesar is home to around seven water reservoirs which flow directly into the Sultanpur Lake via natural channels and conduits. But the protesters claim that the water flow to the lake has been disrupted due to the unplanned industrial development, which has formed a blockade and impedes the natural flow of water during the rains.

Your knowledge about Haryana is little less as per my previous thoughts

Manesar is situated on Aravali range so it as also barren land and as per updation of your knowledge there are no canals in Manesar. Drinking water supplied to gurgaon in filtered sewage water.I have never heard that people in Manesar cultivated 3 crops in a year infact i had heard that People from that belt used Grass as food few years ago. These people use to bring wheat from relatives of Deswaliya belt.

As per Wikipedia is concerned
6000 Acres produce 14000 Tonnes of food grains approximately 2.3 tonnes per acre per year where as if you compare our land it gives 2.0 Tonnes(your village is hardly 60 Kms. from Manesar) wheat only Apart from Paddy and one more crop.

Truth About Sultanpur Lake
Gurgaon, June 16 -- At first glance, if you overlook the dry, parched land, the area looks like a graveyard for fish and animals. Dead fish, several Blue Bull (Neelgai) bodies in different stages of decomposition can be seen here.
In the middle of it all, there's two puddles of water. Each measuring about 20-by-20 ft, these are teeming with hundreds of fish packed together. Fighting for space and air as they jostle in the three-inch deep muddy and black waters, these fish too shall die soon as the lake continues to dry.
As a grim reminder of the future, the bodies of two African Black fish, with their rotten yellow scales and broken bones, lie beside each other on the …

Agricultural production in Manesar falls substantially

Vineet Gill, TNN, Apr 12, 2011, 12.04am IST

The report also says that industrialization should only carried out on infertile land, or at least on land which doesnt yield more than one crop a year.

Please spare our fertile land
Tanushree Roy Chowdhury, TNN, Jan 31, 2011, 12.32am IST
Alleging that almost half of the industrial township of Manesar is still unoccupied, farmers and land owners from at least 10 villages protested against the fresh land acquisition by Haryana government for further expansion of the industrial area on Sunday.

Protestors alleged that even when most of the already developed industrial area remains under-utilized the state government is on another land acquisition spree taking up fertile agricultural land in three villages near Manesar.

The mahapanchayat also saw womenfolk pouring in huge numbers. Their unified demand was spare fertile agricultural land. Locals said that while the government was acquiring productive land in and around Manesar, much of Mewat district (which also falls on the same KMP Expressway) is not fertile for agriculture. Also, the region remains highly under-developed. Mewat has a huge problem of unemployment.
