Jat : Is a khiyatriya or a kastgar

Dear All,

I was seating somewhere in a meeting with our elders and suddenly there was a serious discussion that we JAT people are khiyatriya (Survir like Rajput) or we are Kastgar( like Mali, carpainter).

There were two people who beliew we JAT are Kastgar and they put their point like :- All JAT family in Sikkar live and work like Kastgar. They never claim that we are Khiyatriya. As per discussion our JAT origin is from IRAN and we starting living nearby all rivers where we can work in fields. Our profession is cultivation and we depend on it. So we are Kastgar

But all other beliew that we are Khiyatriya. As I am from Haryana and this state is JAT dominated state and we live like survir(Khiyatriya) here in Haryana. But above point can not be neglected.

Discussion ended without any result but still I am agree with both points and I am unable to decide what we JAT are : Khiyatriya or Kastgar

You are expecting a serious discussion but your question looks funny. You are asking a question or glorifying rajputs . By the way, how rajputs are "suryaveer" and who is a kshatriya if you know, write that down here. In the entire history and in the modern era too, no one can disregard bravery and courage of jats. we are not not even a bit less from any other caste of India. By the way, you are a rajput or jat?

Dost I am JAT and I beliew that we are the best . I am also not denying JAT Courage and bravery , But this discussion was in between some elders and I found their point valid that is why I put this on JATland. Do not take it personnel, I know we are not less than any caste in this world. But this question is belongs to our history and we must know it.

soorveer like rajpoots?, rajpoots are typical indian breed most of them with round nose and dark complexion !!! just put ur commonsense before comparing two races brother ! just go in rajasthan and see jats and rajput boys and u will get ur answer by urself ! they are higher cast for indian origin people only they were rulers for indian people ( now sc st's). we came we saw and we conquered all the good land in north india (including pakistan's fertile planes also) now u can easily makeout who r soorveer, just put little bit commonsense, and tell ur "kastgar" jats that porus was a jat and show them that "alexander" movie.

I would like to take you long back in past when communities started to build.

When a village was formed there were only one KIND of people. Same blood. other then salves.

So, for a village to survive all people can't be warriors, thus in a village all kind of profession started.

as Time passed, a father taught his art to son and with same time we spread in India.

We formed villages and kingdoms and enriched our profession in different part of India.

But there might be a rule that any one can be warrior and there must be one at least from a family.

This still we follow, as you can see how we build JAT REGIMENT.

He was born in parmara dynasty and Gujjars claim this dynasty of Gujjar origin that later raised as Agnikula rajput on Mountabu. Though Gujjar claim is not supported with enough evidence and we see this Gotra in jats too (Historian says that jat and Gujjar word are older than rajput). So either he was Jat or Gujjar. Bhai, can you tell the name of any Jat king of Bharatpur or Dholpur, who used 'Thakur' as his surname? If it is written somewhere that Rajputs of Bharatpur or Dholpur used this title then it may not mean that Jats of Bharatpur used this title. In yours given link it is no where mentioned that 'Thakur' is just 4-5 hundred years old title. Look at the history of Bharatpur and Dholpur;

Moreover, if Vikramaditya was either a Jat or Gujjar, then why these two don't include this name in their names as Rajputs/Thakurs do? I haven't heard any Prashant Vikram Singh or Upender Vikram Singh ever? Though there may be some exceptions, but Rajputs/Thakurs do so in much larger quantity. In Eastern U. Yes, badan singh (father of surajmal), he took the title of thakur, even churaman was known as Thakur churaman......

I can bet on this, please give me any reference where any Rajput or any other caste used this title before 1500 AD. This is just originated few centuries back, it is something like "chaudhary" (chaudhary is also few centuries older), gujjars uses chaudhary, jat uses chaudhary, Tyagi uses chaudhary, bengali uses chaudhary..do you get my point? you got my point totally wrong, you are saying king vikramaditya a thakur or rajput but he was born some 2200 years back , at that time even these words were not originated (I hope you know that rajput caste was originated on Mount abu (netween 600-800 AD), he was a kshatriya, you can not call him thakur or rajput.

I explained it above, there was no rajput caste before 500 AD and every historian accept it. so my statement "Vikram was Kshatriya, caste is not known, race probably Jat or Gujjar"

There are 4 vikram in my village , 2 are Jats , 1 is chura and 1 is jheemar. I have also seen the jat people who use this as their middle name..

'Rana killed Phoolan to avenge 1981 Behmai massacre'

A senior police officer has told a Delhi court that prime accused Sher Singh Rana killed bandit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi to avenge the 1981 Behmai massacre in which she and her gang had murdered 17 people belonging to an upper caste.
"From the disclosure statement of the accused (Rana), the motive of offence was revealed to me that just to take a revenge, he killed her," Suresh Kaushik, a police Inspector who is also the Investigating officer (IO) in the case, said.
Testifying as 170th witness in the nine-year-old trial, Kaushik said the accused wanted to become a "hero" in his community by avenging the killings of 17 men of the Thakur caste by the bandit-turned-politician in 1981 at Behmai.
The Samajwadi party MP was gunned down outside her 44, Ashoka Road residence here on July 25, 2001.
The witness, who had quizzed the accused just after the incident, told Additional Sessions Judge S C Rajan that he had recovered two country-made pistols from the garage of Phoolan's official residence in New Delhi.

Seventeen months after her escape from Behmai, Phoolan returned to the village, to take her revenge. On 14 February 1981, Phoolan and her gang marched into the Behmai village, dressed as police officers. The Thakurs in the village were preparing for a wedding. The gang demanded that her kidnappers be produced, along with all the valuables in the village. Details of what exactly happened are not available, but Phoolan is said to have recognized two men who earlier had sexually assaulted her and murdered her lover. When Phoolan's gang failed to find all the kidnappers after an exhaustive search, she ordered her gang members to line up all the Thakur men in the village and shoot them. The dacoits opened fire and killed twenty-two Thakur men, most of whom were not involved in her kidnapping or rape. Later, Phoolan Devi claimed that she herself didn't kill anybody in Behmai – all the killings were carried out by her gang members.

"surname " is not appropriate word whn we talk about history,, just talk in the words like, caste, race, gotra, title.. "thakur" is just a title it does not implicate any caste, Badan singh adopted this title , that does not mean he became a Rajput. In modern era, mostly rajput uses this title so seem that they got a copyright of it . Let me again put a sentence.

पूरे देश को हरियाणा, पंजाब और पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश वाले जाट ही खिला रहे हैं...थोड़ा-बहुत महाराष्ट्र के लोग खिला रहे हैं...बाकी में से अधिकतर तो अपना पेट भरने लायक ही कुछ कर लें, वही बहुत है उनके लिए...
ठाकुरों में अगर फिर वही विक्रमादित्य और महाराणा प्रताप जैसी बात आ जाए तो देश के लिए बहुत अच्छा हो...
