Genetic Analysis of my DNA

This is more for jankari and entertainment than anything else. Its interesting that Dr. McDonal's analysis which indicates that for all four jats from different region, the non Indian component comes from about the same area (Russia) rather than Turkey or Iran, and the subcontinent component comes from pakistan. The jat gene is further from 'North Indian' cluster, than North Indian cluster is from South Indian cluster.

This analysis contained both the Father's lineage and Mother's lineage. My mother Mitochondria was M4b, which is one of the most common is asia and extends from Russia to Japan and from Siberia to South India.

Some geneology files have been uploaded on Yahoo's Jathistory group. On M Haplogroup (mitochondrial), the following information has been posted:

Hi guys , i'm the owner of that blog. Those bga plots are very telling. The balochis and makrani are clearly closer and tend towards the iranians , while the burusho and the pashtuns cluster with the jatts, and some more towards the north east europeans like vivek.

I'm quite suprised by the clustering of my wife towards the burusho cluster though( they have a sizeable north east asian component in the admixture results if you look around in my blog for the pie charts. My guess is this could be from the white huns , which then makes sense for jatts to cluster with them i guess.

I hope more jatts get tested with 23andme. This is not just a y-dna/mtdna test but an autosomal test ,sampling bits of all of your chromosomes so we get a more accurate picture of the jatt genetic makeup. I do have some extra kits , if you are based in singapore i can provide you with a free kit.

What is your take on :

"M mitochondrial DNA (found in Vivek's sample) is more represented among the dalit classes of Punjab and
Haryana".

VP Sir, you are right, it is a very sensitive issue. Hasn't any jat yet suggested that jats are the origin of sythians?

It's really an appreciable initiate that you have started. I believe that it the DNA which holds the most of the basic characteristics of a person. It will add good value to Jat research.

Could you update your contact information on your profile? I know few Jats in Singapore who might want to try out on their DNA.

In general this might be true , but it is important to note that the M Haplogroup is very old and has lots of branches. It is only indicative of very ancient deep ancestry in the tens of thousands of years, considering the racial identities like caucasians , asians only came about perhaps 10k yrs ago ( for e.g the mutation for white depigmented skin only came about ard 10k B.C) .

M is also very widespread ( a lot of east asia is from the M branch ). It is commonly found all the way to afghanistan and some central asian republics.

Jatts also have W's , N's and HV's amongst them , me and my wife are both W3 ( which is a west eurasian group).

You can get them to email me at simranjits(at)gmail.com , the only caveat is that i will make public their genome.

Take a look here for some pie charts of various groups. This is based on the reference groups+ participants in the harappa ancestry project( by zack ajmal). You can see the burusho have a touch of ne asian in them.

Go to my blog and then on the top right search for "Harrapa SouthAsia Participant Map C1 Pie"

I can't post the link yet here as i'm a new member.

Though, making the analysis of genome public might discourage some 'Real Jats' to take a test, it would provide a deep insight to those who are doing some research on the origin and history of Jats and would help Jats to trace their roots. You really deserve appreciation for providing this useful information and logistics.

23andme site gives the history of M4b (which is a branch of M). Its an ancient (60,000 old) mutation and is found in similar concentration from East Russia to Japan and from Siberia to South India. Dalits, Brahmins, Japanese, Siberians all have it in somewhat similar proportions. You really can't pinpoint ethnicity with it because its such an old mutation...all you can do is that it came out of africa tens of thousands of years ago.

Dr. McDonald also had this to say

Most likely fit is 13.8% (+- 0.6%) Europe (all Northeast Europe)
and 86.2% (+- 0.6%) S. Asia (all Pakistan)

The following are possible population sets and their fractions,
most likely at the top
Finland= 0.139 Sindhi= 0.861
Russian= 0.144 Sindhi= 0.856
Lithuani= 0.129 Sindhi= 0.871

This is clearly more Euro than absolute common
North India (i.e. upper caste).

The American is noise. All the non-India on the chromosomes
is marginal strength, i.e. it's a bit Euro, but close to India.

@Simranjit Singh:

The wesite say there is a per month cost involved and they need 1 year commitment.

What they mean by that? Do we need to send sample each month for 1 year?

VP ji, आप भी मानस इ पड़े हो !!

Its not a "parental test". Its only indictive of your ancient ancestory.

Anyway they say, all the present human race started from Africa many years later they developed some 'specific genes' as per the conditions.

You might be true .. but this is certain Jats never originated from India, they migrated from other places. You can see clear difference in every other traits .. we resemble more with Iranian, spartans, greek, pathans compare to fellow Indians. Hence it proves!

hahahahaha! You are right Prashant. It is not that Jats originated from Sythians. It is the Sythians who originated from Jats.
