please share. I am trying to grow my hair long (so far they have reached elbow length :tears_of_joy:). Tips for keeping them healthy and strong would be deeply deeply appreciated!

Greece them with lots and lots of mustard oil and make them into a long "choti".
Always keep your head covered with a veil to avoid any dust setting on the hairs.
Sometimes, once a week, wash them with multani mitti or very light shampoo and oil them again immediately, least they get dehydrated.

Note: The sole objective of the above steps is to keep the hairs healthy and strong. Nothing beyond it.

That is too much. You are advising her to keep her hair soaked in oil all the time. Doesn't seem to be practical way. Moreover, it is out of fashion too to apply oil to hair while in office/workplace. The best way is to apply oil twice a week before sleep and shampoo it away in the morning. Please don't forget to put a towel over the pillow or wrap a chunni around the head to save the bed and pillow from getting oily. Alternatively, you may change the pillow every time you apply the oil. Coconut oil is very good for hair. Application of Anvla and chikkakai powder is also good. Lemon and Curd/yogurt may be applied in lieu of shampoo once in a while.

For skin, moisturising shower gel and moisturizing body lotion is very useful. Olive oil massage is also very good.

Nice tips by VP Singh Ji! Plus green leafy vegetables and seasonal fruits (loaded with multivits & minerals) in food, and drink lot of water to keep skin hydrated.

Choti I can make easily (braided one) - good stuff. However, mustard oil has a very typical, strong smell that may not be well received by people around me. I have never used multani mitti - what is it for? I hate anything to do with a veil - maybe then i should avoid dusty places.

You see, most of us don't take our hair and skin seriously. But, when some of us become bald and grey haired at a very early age then we realize the importance of hair. Especially, ladies must take due care of their hair because long and thick hair add to their beauty. Similarly, skin care is also equally important. Therefore, the matter is serious, indeed.

The idea is to keep them hydrated and out of dust. One can use whatever one likes and can afford. I believe, the common mid-range shampoos are not good in actuality in the long run.

You are right. The shampoos are very harmful in the long run. One should avoid shampooing as long as possible. Only once or twice a week should be enough, if one doesn't apply hair oil everyday. A good conditioner is must to neutralize the dry effect of shampoo.

I have also found a regular use of facial scrub effective in keeping the skin clean and shiny. Scrub also prevents appearance of black heads when used regularly such as on a daily basis.

VP ji Multani Mitti( should be of good quality) is better than Shampoo.........
