In a development that may draw curtains on the Jat community’s agitation demanding quota in government jobs, decks have been cleared for according Other Backward Classes (OBC) status to five castes — Jats, Jat Sikhs, Rors, Tyagis and Bishnois — in Haryana.
A survey report mandated by the Haryana State Backward Classes Commission (HSBCC) has recommended reservation in jobs and education for the five castes on the basis of their socio-economic and educational backwardness.
The final call will be taken by the state government once the HSBCC submits its formal report, a senior Hooda government official said here.
Sources said the report, which was prepared by Dr KS Sangwan, a former head of sociology department, Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, was submitted to the commission recently.
“The commission will submit its final report to the Haryana Government in a fortnight,” Justice KC Gupta, Chairman of the HSBCC, told The Tribune today.
During the course of the survey, the Sangwan committee surveyed around 50,000 households belonging to 16 castes across the state before arriving at its recommendations.
Besides the five castes recommended for the OBC quota, the other castes surveyed by the committee included Brahmins, Gosains/Goswamis, Vaishs (Banias, Aggarwals), Rajputs and Punjabis (Arora, Khatri), the sources stated.
Against the backdrop of a violent Jat agitation, particularly disruption of rail traffic on the Hisar-Jind-New Delhi section early last year, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had constituted the HSBCC to explore the possibility of inclusion of certain castes in the OBC list.
While initial efforts by the commission to undertake a survey did not meet much success, violent agitations by Jat protesters seemed to have speeded up the survey work.
Earlier this year, the commission asked the state-run universities to conduct a survey for the inclusion of the communities in the OBC list

I know you might be having your own thoughts behind thinking negative about this issue.RavinderSura gave explanation as well as an example why it will help JATs if we are getting it in center first which seemed logical to me but you still have some concerns.I mentioned earlier , we need to have hope and be positive rather than thinking negatively on this. Somewhere i saw Ch Hawa Singh Sangwan ji mentioned his number and asked you to join him when He along with the people is meeting Govt official.I dont give too many suggestion here and i know you can not join him on field due to your prior engagements but i would suggest you to talk to him directly and talk about your apprehensions on the issues and see what he has to say.

Why people are not speaking about rest of communities, which are going to get OBC reservation cover, in fact there are five castes not JAT alone?

If we get reservation then also it is ok and if not then also it will not be a big issue for us...our jats are very progressive in nature..these days we treat education as our karma...we can scale great heights without reservation as well...im not against reservation..if we get then it's a plus point for us...........

[SUB]Brother, Bhajan lal was non jats leader, he had harmed jats maximum and now kuldeep has taken over the charge of his father, so what do you expect from him, what about Bhupender hooda, is he keen, sincere and if yes than what is stopping him to give obc status to jats in our state, I can tell you he can win next election if execute reservation other wise also he can become community hero for future, so advice him if you can do, chautala and kuldeep will not react to your call and i donot expect any positive responce, put ful pressure on present govt at this stage, there is lot of time in election, even if these politicians say something, neither public nor these leaders will remember till election their words, Myview is that we should go for reservation in state first and keep on working for centre, reasons already given above by me, regards[/SUB]

Bishnoi isn't a Jat, right? If I am not mistaken, his first electoral win was due to the Jat vote getting divided as result of two rival Jat candidates.
