Same goes to Obama , Churchill , Clinton , Indira Gandhi and Vajpayee .... oratory skills are like breathing air for a leader ...... Congress has one leader named as Ajit Jogi who is at par with Narender Modi ...but they put him under the carpet ...... and whether he is a Vikas Purush or not let people of Gujrat decide that

Actually, Hitler would be an apt comparison if we are counting leaders with just excellent oratory skills.

And Vajpayee? I would actually say he was a better statesman than an orator. His poetic style of speaking hardly fit the mold of a fiery speaker. He had other qualities

And we are discussing Modi's credentials for PM. He can have Gujarat with his speeches. Nobody can stop that. But India is a different matter.

He was a demagogue and offcourse he was a great orator but he hurted his own country more then any other … that why I don’t consider him as a great Leader …. And now on Modi If he can win Gujrat that means people of Gujrat either don’t know about him and his fake development plank and he can easily be fooled the very business oriented people of Gujrat or he did something which make him more capable then his opposition . Communal sentiments is a onetime phenomenon in non muslim dominated countries …. Indians still see what Gujratis are getting and what they are deprived of…. If people can win elections only on speeches then Congress might be ruling UP now but this is not the case

Jyoti Basu led WB for 24 years. Lalu ruled Bihar for 15 (including 8 alongside Rabri). What is good for a state, may not be good for the center.

Longevity of rule isnt the only determinant of the capability of the leader or the party. If it was, (except Nehru) Indira would be the best PM we ever had and Congress the best party. Actually, dearly beloved Manmohan, unfortunately, will also come in at 3rd in that list of capable leaders, if electoral wins and longevity of rule is a criteria to judge a leaders capability. Either you disagree with that or Indians are fools who dont know how to exercise their right to vote.

Literacy rate of Bihar in 1991 37% in 2001 47.53% with 89% of rural population ... and u are taking before 2000 at that time media was state owned ... Bengal is a disturbed sate violence is almost equal to states like Manipur and J&K and its not a hidden fact that Left have their own gangs and goons and the strongest reason behind the success of left in Bengal was weak opposition ... A thought of fair elections at the time when Jyoti da and Lalu ruled was highly skeptical . Lalu's agenda was caste based and Jyoti Basu's was muscle based .... Developemnt was never been an election issue in these states..... Its better you compare apples and oranges then to compare these chief ministers with Narender Modi..... thoughts and vision matters in world politics ..... he delivered couple of his thoughts on ground .... this is what i like about him the most .... . Buddy if you are opposing him just for the sake of opposing then i have no problem but u cant tie a goat like our current PM in front of Chinese dragon like Xi Jinping . We require a strong leader like Narender Modi irrespective of all shortcomings pointed out by you ..... because Xi jinping is not wen Jiabao or hu jiantao

You spoke about longevity I gave you examples of others. You talk of development I have shared so much data and so have others. So, I am tired of proving this again and again. Did you not take a look at so much data posted on this thread? Or do you just follow statements and thoughts? How is Modi's agenda development when stats show otherwise? In what way is his rule different from other states like Maharashtra, TN, Haryana which have better economic figures? Can you please explain?

And how is he strong? I remember his interview (almost) with Karan Thapar. On facing tough questions he asked for water and then ran away!

People at times vote for a certain party not because it is great but because they lack options, same is true for center as well. BJP produces a very very weak alternative and thus congress wins.

The debate here is that of Modi being the PM and running a state is very different than running a country where you can not be communal. Another point we are debating here is actual development vs. the development shown to people and so far Modi lovers are having a tough time to produce stats.

More Over he is an Honest Person.....

errr...

Here are some of the instances where for once the Modi government is at a loss of words in RTIs -

1. The head of SIT R. K. Raghavan was responsible for giving Modi a clean chit in the riot cases. However, applications that have sought records of his foreign travels have been gathering dust for almost three years without any response from the state government.

2. Modi’s foregin tours have also been questioned. Applications asking for expenses of his private jet soirees with industrialists are pending. Who paid for these trips? and how much?

3. The umpteen amount of money claimed to have been collected through MoUs at the Vibrant Gujarat Summits are nowhere to be seen. Application seeking details of the collections and the expenditure there after are also pending.

4.What about all the gadgets in the CM’s house? Who has paid for the splurging done on his extravagant lifestyle? Applications asking these questions are also awaiting response from the Chief Minister’s office.

5. The Sujalam Sufalam irrigation scam report has been in the making for three years. Why is the report of this scam under the wraps?

6. Illegal mining in Gujarat and RTI applications related to the same have met with no response from the State Government. The RTI activist, Amit Jethawa, who had raised the issue of illegal mining in Gujarat was murdered the probe was transferred from the Gujarat HC to the CBI.

7. Another important information that has been held by the government under the pretext of ‘business secrets’ is the incentive that companies like TATA, Ford, Peugeot and Maruti received.

Again Truth Vs. Reality about Mr. Future PM

In terms of the per capita income, Gujarat is the number 6th state in India as opposed to Modi’s claims of it being at the top.

Let’s take a look at the foreign investment in Gujarat. Modi has been applauded by many for his efforts to convince many a corporates within India and abroad to invest in Gujarat. With so much support one would have thought that Gujarat would rank at the top when it comes to foreign investment. But even here Modi has let down the people of Gujarat. The state ranks a poor 5th for the amount of regional FDI. States like Maharashtra, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh are way ahead of Gujarat.

In the reduction of infant mortality, Gujarat ranks 11th with a reduction of only 17.94 per cent. Life expectancy in Gujarat is at 62.15 years which is in fact worse than Bihar which is at 62.85 years. Overall Gujarat ranks 8th in life expectancy in India. If we compare the sex ratio in the state then it is as good as Bihar with 921 females to every 1000 males. Literacy is also a matter of concern in Gujarat as the state ranks 6th in India with a literacy rate of only 69.97 per cent. Percentage of children between the age group of 5-14 years who have been admitted to schools is 74.35 per cent which again puts Gujarat in the 6th place.

I love to see a communal person like him to rule India .... If he is communal then i am also communal too ... every person who says that I am Hindu is a communal in dictionary of Congress ... Vajpayee was also portrayed as Communal during Babri demolition the single act by Hindus after 1000 years of tyranny to show this world that they have balls too ...atleast he never gave reservation to Hindus(relegion based ) ...to get their votes as did by Center govet to get minority votes in UP

Honestly I am not getting into a Congress Vs. BJP. I am sure BJP will have better choice of PM Candidates in the party(Sushma, Advani, Jaitly etc etc) and Modi will not be a PM candidate as even the allies wont agree. My idea of debate here was to show how Modi is misleading the country with tainted figures and a heavy PR machinery and was just bringing facts in front of everyone but people not only have a habit of selective reading but compulsive ignorance as well(Not personal against you).

Is this an allegation ...he also eat food why dont you ask for count of chappatis he eats daily

2. Modi’s foregin tours have also been questioned. Applications asking for expenses of his private jet soirees with industrialists are pending. Who paid for these trips? and how much?

Mahtma Gandhi also toured India and all expenses were paid by Godrejs and Birlas ...... ask for his expense details too

3. The umpteen amount of money claimed to have been collected through MoUs at the Vibrant Gujarat Summits are nowhere to be seen. Application seeking details of the collections and the expenditure there after are also pending.
Is it worth proving him corrupt

4.What about all the gadgets in the CM’s house? Who has paid for the splurging done on his extravagant lifestyle? Applications asking these questions are also awaiting response from the Chief Minister’s office.

Shame on all those people now they are counting the gadgets . I think he is getting salary too and 12 years of salary as CM is more then enough to purchase gadgets ..... when people like Rahul Gandhi are riding bikes worth 25 lakh.

5. The Sujalam Sufalam irrigation scam report has been in the making for three years. Why is the report of this scam under the wraps?

CBI is in hands of center who is stopping them to act against him

6. Illegal mining in Gujarat and RTI applications related to the same have met with no response from the State Government. The RTI activist, Amit Jethawa, who had raised the issue of illegal mining in Gujarat was murdered the probe was transferred from the Gujarat HC to the CBI.
Again i said he is honest not whole BJP or whole Gujrat govt is honest

Again who stopped the most potent govt in centre to nuckel him down ..if he did wrong in these deals

You throw info on projects and I throw data which is proof of the results of those projects. Check Bihar. They probably have better projects than Gujarat.

Stats are crap? And your reading from clippings and govt. sites is true? Who is being selective here? Ok, agreed so you know Haryana better even though you live in the US. So do you know TN and Maharsthra better too? Stats show they are doing as good as Gujarat, if not better. Oh wait, you don't believe in stats. Foolosh must be all businesses, organizations and govts. who take decisions based on stats.

It wasnt a personal assualt. He just asked him why he never thought of apologizing for the riots, when its proved beyond doubt that the state machinery was responsible for negligence, if not abetting the riots. And he ran away!

Ok, since Gujaratis, who are the smartest race in India, elected him, India must elect him too. Is that your logic? Well people of every state have their own reasons or factors. Just because business minded Gujjus elect him doesnt mean the country should too. Whats good for one state may not be best for others. By your logic, Americans, who are the most innovative and business minded people in the world, elected Bush, then Bush is the best choice for the world too, right?

A few facts for those trumpeting Modi's Gujarat. (2004-05 (base figure) to 2010-11 )

10.1% vs 6.3% Haryana ahead of Gujarat on GSDP growth,

Rs 94,680 Per capita income in Haryana, against Gujarat’s Rs 75,115

1st vs. 4th Haryana and Guajrat’s ranks in per capita investment

1st vs. 10th Comparison on human development index (United Nations)

Haryana has a school every 0.98 km; 2 km between schools in Gujarat;

21 of 64 Haryana athletes’ medals in Asian Games; Gujarat’s won 9

I know many (atleast 10-12) NRI Gujaratis living here in Australia. I have asked them about their opinion on Modi, his policies and how is he doing in Gujarat and are people happy with his regime (and have they been happy in the past). They praise him like any Indian would praise Sachin Tendulkar. Vo un sabki mausi ka beta to nahi lagta hoga? One of them even booked ticket to home just to vote for him. That's what I have got to know from them. Haryana ke kitne aise log honge jo Hooda ki praise karte honge ? If Haryana is doing better than Gujarat, I call it a miracle, not something Hooda's policies have done.

I dont proclaim that Modi isnt doing good or his policies are not pro-development. But, the key point is are these policies beneficial for everybody in the state? And if that is the case, why arent stats proving it? If 40% people are below poverty line in a state who's CM claims it to be the most prosperous state, clearly there is some discrepancy. The discrepancy is either in the statements or the stats.

I will give you Punjab's example. The state is among the best in almost all social and human parameters. The Badals have hugely pampered the southern Malwa region. At the same time some other regions like Doaba have been neglected. If you ask a Malwai, he will sing praises of Badals but a guy from Doaba may not agree. So it depends whom you ask.

And your 10-12 NRIs represent a very specific group of Gujjus. Is that a sample size big enough to analyze Modi's performance? What should one believe? 10-12 people, or statewide economic and social data?

Congress is not communal when it fields Mohd. Azharudin (from Andhra Pradesh) as its candidate from Moradabad (muslim dominated area in UP).

Congress is not communal when it takes OUTSIDERS Raj Babbar and Mohd. Azharudin to muslim dominated constituencies in Gujarat for campaigning.

But BJP according to the SICKULARISTS is communal because it presents a GUJARATI (Irfan Pathan) alongwith Modi on stage during election campaigning.

BJP does not provide reservation on religious lines, yet it is communal, but when Congress divides the country on caste (first reservation on caste lines given by the Communal Congress) and on religious lines, it is not communal. It is an apt example of coloured glasses. AND now what to talk of the paid media which is going over the hill in support of this Communal Congress in pointing finger at BJP while forgetting that other four fingers are pointing towards itself and its complicity with the 3C Congress.

As Sumit Jattan said, if being Hindu and being proud of that fact is being communal, then YES even I am communal.

Despite there being detractors around galore, the people will ensure that Modi occupies the rightful position - the PM's chair.
