Chinese Troops Recent Incursion in Ladakh

This kind of fits well to most of the self-proclaimed experts on Jatland who think they know more than experts and authenticated reports:

India has become a joke in the Maldives, a foe in Sri Lanka, a doubt in Bangladesh, a shrug in Nepal, a snigger in Pakistan and a taunt in China. Every neighbour has tested Delhi and discovered that this government walks on its knees. India has never seemed as helplessly weak as now. Foreign minister Salman Khurshid thinks China's incursion into Despang is acne which will disappear - perhaps after an application of a multinational cream. Has no one briefed him or the PM about Chinese revenue officials trying to extend their jurisdiction into Ladakh, or the significant possibility that the area may be rich in un-mined uranium?

All in all,

Who should be trusted more, a validated report compiled by an expert or a samanya gyaan by Mr. no one? you decide.

Although i am sure if same would have been done by BJP yours and the bunch of other people's tone would have been different. E.G.: Modi ke dar se cheeni bhage, Bhajpa ki kootneetik safalta.

Ha ha ha ha.. bhai rey, tu jama pet ne paad ke chodega aaj! :triumphant:

Samanya gyaan, samanya tareeke se sochne aur vyaktigat anubhavo ke dwara prapt hota hai..! Tanne nahi hoya to bhai mai ke kar saku hu isme? I gave you example of Chusul because one of my friend was denied the permission to go there. he contacted some ADC and got the permission but was strictly adviced not to go across the river. Anubhav saajha karne se hi gyaan me vridhi hoti hai. Eeb tu nyu soche hai ak mai aprampaar hu, to bhai ya teri samjh-nasamjh hai!

Konsi report manne bhai hum? Just for example (example dyu hu latest), CBI ki Coal-gate wali report me se 3 cheeje PMO and law minister ne hata di. Hum kyu kare kisi bhi report par bhrosa? kyuki wo kangress ke bhrasht logo ne di hai isliye?
Aur bhai manne ek bar nyu jarur btaiye ak manne konsi post me aur konse dhaage me BJP ko kootnitik aur Kangress se acha btaya hai.. Laaiye bhai wa report si bana ke! ;)

VP ji,

Desh ke politicians me icchhashakti ki kami hai. Humare desh me naa to saadhno ki kami hai, na hi manpower ki. Fir kyu hum har bar piche hatne pe majbur ho jate hai? Pakistan atankvaadi bhejta hai to muh utha ke bol dete hai ki hum cricket nahi khelenge. China dhons dikhata hai to billi ki trah ban jate hai.

Rajneeti sirf vote lene tak to seemit nahi honi chaiye. Desh ke liye bhi kuch faisle lene chaiye, par ye neta (chahe koi bhi party ke ho) apne ghar bharne me lag jaate hai bus. IFS dont have any decision making power and they are not allowed to think beyond the political interest of the ruling party. Fir unka fayda kya hai desh ko? Entire system is paralyzed. When the need of the hour was to stand strong and take tough diplomatic decision against China, Foreign Minister was more worried about cancelling the Beijing trip. Great! Is China dependent on this trip alone that it would have moved back? The hardest way to hit a nation is to hit its economy. China ke aadhe se jyada khilone aur hardware ka saaman India me bikta hai. Why they didn't act actively by imposing certain restrictions on this market? India me bahot khilone bante hai, par un logo ko upar uthane ki bajaye China se import karke un gareeb logo ka maal saste me pitwa dete hai.

Fauj ki baat ho rahi hai to fauji bhi kya kar lega? Faujiyo ke hath me 20 saal purani bandook de rakhi hai. How they can survive a tough situation like war in case it happens (remote chances) with such outdated weapons? Most of us surely dont see war as a solution, but tough diplomatic actions were needed and thats where the govt failed. Chinese traversed and guaged the situation inside disputed territory and would have certainly passed on critical info to their higher commands. They have good infrastructure till the last kilometer of their country on the border, but they dont want similar things on Indian side. And did they succeed? Yes, definitely. Indian bunkers will be removed and no constrution will be done to improve the infrastructure in the area which could very well help the Indian forces if time needs be! This is certainly not a victory!

Deepak,

My understanding on above lines is that in a Westminister system, bureaucrats are accountable to ministers. Bureaucrats work for a minister and suggest minister but final call is always made by the minister. The main issue, have already pointed about. Ministers have least will to reform this system and be proactive. So far I am only impressed by Shashi Tharoor on this whole issue. He has aptly described the problem in the system. Shashi Tharoor has worked in UN for many years and has good experience working as a senior level officer and good exposure of how diplomacy should work at international levels. He already suggested union government about the reforms required in IFS but unfortunately our top brass bureaucrats and cabinet ministers are not satisfied with Tharoor's suggestion. We still believe that One Size Fit all is the best way of administration.

If anyone interested, read this excellent article:

http://tharoor.in/articles/external-aptitude/

Not every diplomat emerges from the current training process well enough equipped in the “soft skills” required in international diplomacy to function effectively, though their mastery of their assigned foreign language is now usually impressive. But then language training, too, is not always reflected in assignments: I have frequently come across Indian diplomats in non-Anglophone European capitals whose foreign language was Chinese, a number of ambassadors in Paris who could not speak French, and (as I pointed out in a Parliament question in 2011) not one of India’s nine ambassadors stationed in the countries of the Gulf at that time spoke or had learned Arabic. Surely we can aim at a time when every national language is spoken by at least one Indian officer and an eventual time when every one of our missions is headed by an ambassador who knows the language, be it Khmer or Korean, Spanish or Swahili?

Another question:

UPSC decison was overruled by our parliament that English test marks should be counted. If that is a case, how would you get right talent for IFS. Infact for IFS there is more specialization required in terms of knowing foreign languages!!

Hell has more definitions than heaven , possibly because more of us expect to end up there than in the other place. A cynicdescribed hell as other people. Men of religion generally promise hellfire for the wicked, an image that rather contradicts the doctrine that the body is terminal and soul eternal. A soul can't get roasted in flames, can it?

One much prefers the blind poet Milton's insight. Heaven is order, he wrote, and hell chaos. By Milton's standards, the government of Dr Manmohan Singh has already gone to hell.

Chaos is the wild weed rooted in corruption. Like an untamed cancer, chaos has destabilized the coalition, corroded governance beyond repair and perverted foreign policy. In 2009 allies were clamoring to attach themselves to Congress. Today the only ally left is Sharad Pawar; even the ever-reliable Dr Farooq Abdullah seems to have turned wobbly. Since UPA continues to survive in office like a patient spread across a table, it has become evident justification for euthanasia.

An indecisive Prime Minister spreads uncertainty along every artery of power. He does not speak, and when he does silence seems the better option. He appears to suggest that cliche or evasion are a solution. He demands justice from Pakistan after Sarabjit's deliberately authorized murder in a Pak jail, unable to comprehend that India is still awaiting justice for Hafiz Saeed, mastermind of the Mumbai terrorist attack. Pakistan will do nothing beyond raising the occasional flurry of dust; and Dr Singh is unlikely to do anything after the customary waffle.

Has no one briefed him or the PM about Chinese revenue officials trying to extend their jurisdiction into Ladakh, or the significant possibility that the area may be rich in un-mined uranium?

The Prime Minister has become either the target of dark outrage or the butt of black humour. The insulation that protected him while colleagues were falling on either side in the many corruption battles, has been ripped off by the coalmines allocation scam. The government has only one strategy for all the riveting scandals that have gutted its credibility: the purchase of time through delay or deception. Law minister Ashwani Kumar is caught tampering with the evidence to be presented to the Supreme Court, and gets a ringing vote of confidence from the Prime Minister.

The only time Dr Singh shows any determination is when he is defending the indefensible. Additional Solicitor General and CBI counsel exposes the lies of Attorney General Goolam Vahanvati in a public letter, and Vahanvati laughs all the way back to his handsome bungalow in Lutyens Delhi to await the next set of cheques for his services. Laugh if you must, but it does seem entirely appropriate that this legal conspiracy against the Supreme Court began to unravel when Raval encountered Vahanvati in a cloak room. History is never made in a toilet, but farce is.

China's Two steps forward, one step backward

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...rd-one-step-backward/articleshow/19762446.cms

Claude Arpi, China expert, says, "The Chinese are now claiming areas which they didn't 20 years ago. If they have intruded 19 kms inside India this time, even if they go back they will return next season. And their claim remains."

China, after a fairly event-free leadership transition last month, finds itself with territorial challenges in the east with Japan and in the south with other neighbours from Vietnam to Philippines . Watching China's aggressive territorial moves in the east, India should have learnt one lesson — China will remain intractable in its territorial claims. It's willing to go to war with Japan or Vietnam and even India if need be.

Second, having built a formidable network of infrastructure on the border, China is apparently unsettled at India's own efforts in the past five years. This may 'explain' Chinese behaviour, but the Indian government's focus seems to be on keeping the relationship insulated from such incidents. This talks-despite-terrorism policy didn't work in the Pakistan context and it's bound to fail equally spectacularly with respect to China.

Third, China has modernized its military in the past decade, even as India has failed to streamline its defence procurement systems, and wallowed in defence scams. So even if the army contemplates taking a muscular route to getting Chinese troops out of Indian territory, the fear that Indian capability will fail is enough to keep them glued to their seats.

China does not easily vacate the small strips of territory that it has occupied in a sort of mission creep. While Indian officials say this will not prejudice the boundary negotiations, logically speaking, it will. That's a fine pickle to be in.

I believe in a quote - " I am not a man of etiquette, I don't know manners. I simply call a spade a f**king spade, because that's what it is! "

Now the problem is I can't write it straight here, it automatically get changed. Anyways, let's come to the point. Being assertive and offensive sometimes to defend country's own territory and clean out intruders are not at all foolish act. Being politically correct in the name of diplomacy is sign of cowardish, spineless policy for that what we are famous.

And yeah, Ladai ke bina bhi laal to khapte hi hain and our shameless Gandhi chaap neta don't care at all. In fact, it's a big let down for our army foces.

Official policy of China is to occupy an area then assert that it has always been part of their area showing some pseudo-historical evidence related to centuries old Quing and Han dynasty. People liberation Army keeps nibbling at Indian territory to create "new facts on grounds" then Chinese govt. goes for "new normal in relationship".

Reference please ? These island are said to be disappeared because of climate change.

New Moore (as it was known in India) or South Talpatti (as it was known in Bangladesh) was a small uninhabited offshore sandbar landform in theBay of Bengal, off the coast of the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta region.[SUP][1][/SUP] It emerged in the Bay of Bengal in the aftermath of the Bhola cyclone in 1970, and disappeared at some later point.[SUP][2][/SUP]
Although the island was uninhabited and there were no permanent settlements or stations located on it, both India and Bangladesh claimed sovereignty over it because of speculation over the existence of oil and natural gas in the region.[SUP][3][/SUP] The issue of sovereignty was also a part of the larger dispute over the Radcliffe Award methodology of settling the maritime boundary between the two nation.
In March 2010, Sugata Hazra of the School of Oceanographic Studies at Jadavpur University, Kolkatta, India, said that the island had disappeared and that sea level rise caused by climate change was a factor.[SUP][9][/SUP] He said that sea level rise, changes in monsoonal rain patterns which altered river flows, and land subsidence were all contributing to the inundation of land in the northern Bay of Bengal.[SUP][9][/SUP] Hazra said that other islands in the Indian Sundarbans region are eroding very fast.[SUP][9][/SUP] The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has estimated that 17 percent of Bangladesh will be submerged under water by 2050, if sea levels rise by 3.3 feet due to climate change.[SUP][3]
