But why cant muslims grow with Gujarat?

Who is stopping them ?
Now, just don't provide a stupid answer by blaming someone specific. But, if you still want to blame on your favorite hatred person then provide some data about the growth of Muslims in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, MP and link them with the policies of State Head.

Anyways, at least you do agree that Gujrat is growing.

Yes I agree Gujarat is growing but has there ever been an instance since independence that it has ever not grown? NO
Is it growing at the fastest pace in India: NO

So what is the fuss about?

And on your question about Muslim growth in Gujarat, scroll back in the thread and you will get the answer as to who is stopping them. A hint: his name starts with 'N'

Here's joke doing the rounds-

So are TN, Maharashtra and many other states.
Moreover, growth is an inevitable process and almost every state has been growing. The magnitude and pace of development in different states is bound to differ given the variation in geographical conditions, sources of revenue, entrepreneurial skills of the local people and their saving habits, climatic conditions, connectivity to shipping routes, and law & order situation etc.

Another important point being ignored in the whole discourse is that in a Federal system of governance the devolution of powers tilts in favour of States as far as developmental activities are concerned. Most of the developmental activities figure in the State List. Even if the Prime Minister happens to be a person of high calibre with an iron will to deliver, he will not be able to put his foot down if the Chief Minister is not performing. As the regional parties hold sway in many Indian States, it would be impossible for Mr. X, Y or Z as Prime Minister, to transform India into a Gujarat where the Chief Ministers, especially belonging to the opposition parties are not obliged to obey centre's dictates in the present dispensation of governance. Of course, change of incumbency at the centre might impact Defence, Foreign and Economic policies of the country but that does not have a direct bearing on the regional development. For example, the developmental activities like construction of roads, hospitals, educational institutions, water supply, sanitation, irrigation, electricity supply etc. are controlled directly by the State and the Prime Minister will have hardly any say in these matters. So, one should not be so euphoric about any individual becoming the Prime Minister. In fact, it is the political party and its programme which matters more than just one individual. It is illogical and pointless to lionise just one individual while expecting him to bring paradise on earth. However, change of guard seems imminent, no one knows which way the wind will blow given the complexities of Indian politics where regional parties hold a sway.

V P Sir, it would be very very foolish of a CM to not to enact in accordance with the center and modi is no exception to it. Matters like roads are a state subject but fundings for most of them, specially beyond cities come from center through schemes like Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna. Similarly for employment, state needs to create jobs but money comes from center through schemes like MNREGA.

I do agree with your point that just because one is good with a state does nowhere mean that he can run the country. Taking Modi's example and Kejriwal's example here, I am yet to hear anything from their mouth that is good enough to be implemented on international level to improve India's situation.

You don't say. What about the cult of Modi? His followers proclaim he will singlehandedly transform India by solving the energy crisis, jumpstart exports, ceate a a billion jobs etc etc. Nor to mention he will purge all Muslims and create the Ram Mandir in the process. :)

Better leave Shri Ram Mandir out of your sarcastic comments. There is a fine line between jokes/sarcasm and hurting fellow members' religious sentiments. Don't try to cross it.

Well, don't a majority of Modi's supporters believe that he will build Shri Ram Mandir when he comes to power?

Is it just that? Are we being selective here?

It is about much more than that. It is about creating the feeling of pride in every Indian on being Indian.
