Haryana Tasveero Mein (Continued)

Translation: It is often construed that there is nothing notable in Haryana in respect of built heritage and architectural beauty. I have proved through my resarch investigations done while on extensive tours that the statement is not true. I have documented more than 3000 such buildings in the State that belie the often misconstrued notion as indicated and acclaim that even our villages and small town are full of architectural beauties of yore. They imbibe aesthetucs of a unique kind, though simple in stature. A few are ornamental beauties but the variety is such that even I couldn't notice elsewhere in India.

Haryanvis are least concerned about preservation of their tangible as well as intangible heritage. So far the the people of Haryana -connected directly and indirectly, with this issue have remained passive and indifferent to even raise a concerted voice so that the departments in Govt. of India and Govt. of Haryana take notice. Most of our built heritage urgently need attention of conservationists -a work that required large funds for documentation and conservation. Most of the unlisted properties (they are in thousands) scattered in the countryside, small towns and villages have either become a heap of rubble or crumbling. Many have been encroached by unscrupulous residents as the habitation organically expanded, a few have been already demolished leaving no vestige of the old grandeur whereas a few that can be saved have been squeezed in terms of space around them and lost from the open view. The INTACH Haryana has sporadically done some commendable work but have to strive and speed up the pace of listing and taking up conservation work. The most depressing is the attitude of the people towards upkeep of the immediate environment in which the monuments -irrespective of their size and historical important, exist. It is high time we think of saving these historically and architecturally attractive properties. Had these type of properties been somewhere in the western world, they would have accomplished the task by the end of 1960s. Therefore, what for we are waiting?-----Ch.Ranbir Singh Fougat.

Freak with the past is causing irreparable loss to our rich heritage.

1. a centralized list of all the jat dharamshalas around the world, along with contact details
2. and online reservation, charges, etc ...

Big ask, whats the best way to go about it? a thread? an appeal to dhramshalas to come under a common website, etc? suggestions from all Jat bahis will be welcome

I would've given a suggestion if it was welcome :). Never mind. Perhaps another time.
