This painting is no more now as it existed in the entrance/Mandapa of a temple in a remote village in Karnal district. The owner demolished it three years ago. Despite my efforts and written appeal to the district administration, no notice was taken. INTACH also didn't intervene despite request and bringing it to the notice of Shikha Jain, the then convener of Haryana chapter.

Hansi, located in Haryana, is believed to have been founded by Anang Pal, the Tomar king of Delhi. The fort's construction is undated, though additions were made by Prithwi Raj, making it an important military stronghold. A famine in 1783 resulted in Hansi being deserted. The city was revived in 1798 by a British adventurer in Haryana called George Thomas and by 1803, the British established a cantonment here. भारतीय कृषि के यंत्रीकरण को ग्राम आधारित अर्थव्यवस्था, किसान की जीवनशैली और पर्यावरण के लिये मैं एक अति दुखद घटना मानता हूँ। इसने हमारी गाय और उसके पुत्र बैल को न केवल बेघर किया वरन उसकी नियती दर-दर की ठोकरें खाने के लिये और कसाई हत्थों में मरने के लिये निर्धारित कर दी। मेकनायिजेशन ऑफ एग्रीकल्चर ने हमें अनाजों में बेशक अधिक पैदावार दी है लेकिन रासायनिक खाद, हाईब्रिड सीड और मशीनों ने हमें बीमार और अपांग करने के अलावा और किया ही क्या है ? सूखासह्य हमारी देश की अनेक फसलों के बीज तक आज मिलने दूभर हैं। हरियाणा में पटसन रेशे जैसा एक पौधा होता था 'सनी' का। उसके रेशे से किसान अनेक प्रकार की रस्सियाँ और रस्सी बाने में निपुण हुआ करते। लेकिन आजकल बरसात की अनियतता और नीलगाय जैसे वन्य जीवों की वजह से 'सनी' बोने का प्रचलन नहीं रहा। आज के दिन तो इसका बीज मिलना भी मुश्किल है। हाथ से बनाई गयी इसकी पतली रस्सी जिसे हरियाणा में 'बाण' कहते हैं, की भरी हुयी चारपाई अथवा खात बरसों चलती थी जिस पर गर्मी और बरसात में बढ़िया नींद आती थी। कृषि की जो दुर्दशा गलत राजनैतिक निर्......णयों की वजह से हुयी और जिसके लिये हम अपने नौकरशाह कृषि वैज्ञानिकों को ज्यादा तो नहीं लेकिन कम दोष तो दे ही सकते हैं, उससे निपटना भी अब बहुत मुशिकिल लग रहा है। हालांकि, अनेक लोग देश में ऑर्गेनिक खेती के पक्षधर बन गये हैं और इस दिशा में कुछ उत्साहवर्धक परिणाम भी सामने आ रहे हैं, लेकिन उनकी ताकत इतनी कम है की पूरे देश में इसका प्रसार एक समयसाध्य प्रकिरिया प्रतीत होता है। दूसरी ओर कुछ बड़ी कम्पनियां और कुछ बड़े किसान मौके का फायदा उठा कर ऑर्गेनिक फ़ूड की लेबलिंग करके दुगने-तिगने दामों पर कृषि उत्पाद बेच रहे हैं। नागरिकों के साथ यह एक किस्म के कृषि-उत्पाद आधारित शोषनात्मक व्यवस्था की ही शुरुआत तो है ! शुक्र है, देश के दुर्गम इलाकों में आज भी खेती का पारंपरिक स्वरुप 90 प्रतिशत तक बचा हुआ है, और, उन लोगों की जिंदगी मजे में बीत रही है। उक्त विषय के अनेक पहलुओं पर विस्तार से चर्चा होती रहती है लेकिन क्या पारंपरिक कृषि वे आनंद भरे दिन फिर से लौट कर आयेंगे ?
