Research on history of Jat clans

Kudos to your general knowledge ! By the same logic, do Jat gotras Hunga (हुंगा), Hunjan (हुंजन) and Hunsawat (हुंसावत) also originate from Huns, since these words begin with English spelling 'Hun'? Or does every word starting with 'hun' has some connection with barbaric Huns?

Hundal (हुंडळ) gotra is believed to be one of gotras belonging to Suryavanshi group? You mean Suryavansh also started at the time of Hun invasion? And did English language (Roman script) exist in India when Huns came here?

.

suryavansi, agnivashi, chnadravanshi........i find these more imaginary less real.

Yes, as regards determination of Jat clans, they are mere creation of figment of imagination of the pro-pounders of these theories as they were unable to find other more plausible arguments to understand the problem of origin of various castes/gotras in the absence of irrevocable sources of ancient Indian History.

If this issue was so easy to prove, then there would not have been need of deeper studies to which people have been engaged for several centuries but without tangible outcome.

And now see, to further complicate the issue, the old story is being repeated in new avtar by the protagonists of the present thread that every Jat to day is Huna and nothing else but Hunas.

"Barbaric Huns", is a subjective notion. As "Huns" brought socio economic changes in the society because of their military might and strength, they were often looked upon as Barbaric to people whose strength was finished by Hunnish rule. This word "Barbaric" has not only been associated with "Huns", but many other ancient tribes and rulers.

Hun, Hoon, Han are the same words with different spellings and localized pronunciation.

History of Fulfakhar or Fulka Jat clan

Fulfakhar/Phulphakhar (फुलफखर) Foolfagar (फूलफगर) Phoolfagar (फूलफगर) Fulka (फुल्का) Phulka (फुल्का)/(फुलका) gotra of Jats live in Rajasthan.

Phulka (फुलका) people have been mentioned in Bhagavata Purana along with Kiratas, Hunas, Pulindas, Kankas, etc. Their name given there is Pulkasa (पुल्कस) .[Bhim Singh Dahiya: Jats the Ancient Rulers (A clan study), p. 267 ]

It is said to be originated from village of the name Fulka. [Mahendra Singh Arya et al.: Ādhunik Jat Itihas, Agra 1998, p.265]

I searched all villages in Saurashtra Gujarat and found that Fulka (फुल्का) is a Village in Junagarh district of Gujarat.

The Rivers of Junagarh: Tej Ram Sharma has discussed about The Rivers of Junagarh in his book [wiki]Personal and geographical names in the Gupta inscriptions/Appendix V :The Rivers of Junagarh[/wiki].

The names of the rivers, mentioned in the Junagarh Inscription of Skandagupta, as issuing from the mountain Raivataka or Urjayat.

Sikata is the same Suvarnasikata mentioned in the Junagarh Inscription of Rudradaman and as identical with Suvarnarekha which flows at the foot of Girnar hill. In the accompanying map besides the two rivers Ojat and Uben on the sides of Junagarh, we find the river Fuljar and a number of streams, viz., Nonpuria, Sonrakhi, Lotus and Fuljar.

Sonrakhi is evidently Suvarnarekha,

Fuljar may be the river Palasinl and the

Lotus may be equated with Vilasini.

The river Ojat has some resemblance with the mountain Urjayat.

This description of Rivers indicates the presence of Jats and Jat clans in the form of Ojat and Fuljar.

Village Fulka and River Fuljar are associated with Fulka or Fulfakhar Jat clan.

Karkala Jat clan

[wiki]Karkala[/wiki] (करकला) Jat gotra people live in Bharatpur district in Rajasthan. They are said to have originated from Nagavanshi King Krikalasa (कृकलास). Kerk, Kruk, Kurk, Karak is a tribe mentioned by Sir H. M. Elliot([wiki]The History of India, as Told by Its Own Historians/Note (C).- Ethnological[/wiki],pp.508-511) living in Sindh. This seem to be a variant of Jat clan Karkala.

I found in Dwarka a tirtha named Krikalas Kunda:

Jat family name "Goyat"

Is it possible that the clues of ancient people be in their family names?

A family name called "Goyat", if we did a sandhi Vichhed becomes Go+yat or "Go" means "Cow" and "Yat" is a name often used for Jats.

Jat Villages in Harda District (Madhya Pradesh)

Harnarayan Gora is a Retired Upper Grade Teacher from Harda district in Madhya Pradesh. He has compiled a list of villages with Jat Gotras residing there. I have updated the Gotra pages and village pages on Jatland with his list. His list has also been provided on Jatland. You can see here - [wiki]Jat Villages in Harda District (Madhya Pradesh)[/wiki]

This is a great contribution. You can also do this !!!

People residing in a specific area can do miracles by enlisting the community as Mr. Gora has done !

Really great job accomplished worth emulation by one and all !

Shantanu ji I will request to read Hukum Singh Punwar's book on Jat History. He explains migration of Jats to western countries. Read the Chapter - The Jats:Their Origin, Antiquity and Migrations/The migrations of the Jats to the North-Western countries

Lot of such history related with "Jats", has been presented through religious views in form of mythologies, folklore and so on. This kind of history certainly had a great influence of people who wrote such history in the past especially people who used to take care of so called religions or the people who used to preach teach religion, as often these were also the people who used to manipulate society and people through religion.

The real history of "Jats" might be present in "Scythian language" and other central Asian dialects and languages. We must remember person name like " Daryav Singh", still exists in certain communities of north western people and this might be remembrance of their ancient past and roots. Now which "Darya" these names are talking about? needs to be connected.

Secondly, what kind of people will live near a "Darya", and why will they give so much importance to this word as "Darya"?

One reason might be the kind of life these people were associated with if u have lot of grazing animals like horses, cows, sheeps, goats, etc., then u are looking for a good source of water for them. If u are a person who just exists just on hunting and its nomadic life style then big quantities of water does not hold much significance for you. So this means, that we are talking about people, who have large herds of cattle, sheeps, goats, etc and they value water. In old times "Darya" was a common and easy source of water as most water bodies existed natural forms. So, it seems first names like "Daryav Singh", holds big remembrance value of their ancient past for these people.

We are compiling these informations on on Jatland Wiki. Kindly search and we find -

[wiki]Darya[/wiki] - Darya is a Jat clan found in Afghanistan. One can also find amid of scattered slabs of the Chaukhandi tombs, a slab that bears inscription which reads the name of Jat son of Bakha Jat. Another inscription reads the name of Bakha Jat son of Darya.

[wiki] Syr Darya[/wiki] - Jaxartes or Syr Darya (Hindi:(जगजार्टिस), Persian: سيردريا‎; Tajik: Сирдарё; Kazakh: Сырдария ; Arabic: سيحون‎; Uzbek: Sirdaryo), also transliterated Syrdarya or Sirdaryo, is a river in Central Asia, sometimes known as the Jaxartes or Yaxartes from its Ancient Greek name Ἰαξάρτης.

[wiki]Kara Darya[/wiki] - Kara Darya (black river) is a tributary of the Syr Darya in Kyrgyzstan and eastern Uzbekistan.

[wiki]Amu Darya[/wiki] - The Amu Darya, (also called in ancient Greek: Oxus River) is the longest river in Southwest Asia. This region of central Asia is considered by some scholars to be the original home of Jat people.

All these are somehow associated with the Jats. We may do more research.

A very fantastic idea indeed; names of rivers associated with the names of Jats/their clans.

Do u or anyone else have a photograph of that "Slab"? Is it possible to get that "Slab" and restore it in any museum?

Jats Nomadic identity family name "Dalal"

Jats trace their origins to ancient times, in this respect a few family names need to be considered:

1. Ghumman: Which literally relates with "Ghumna" or the people who move, "the wanderers" or the "travelling people".
2. Basra: Name of ancient and historic city in Iraq.
3. Dalal: A family name found in middle east/ near east.

A notable person of Arab Jewish decent from Dalal family name is: Yarir Dalal

http://www.yairdalal.com/index.php/en/gallery-video/images.html

you can also find "Dalal" family name of people living in Arab following Muslim faith. The family name in Arab is called "al Dalal", where "al" means coming from or the clan or family identity.

In ancient times, if u are travelling and moving then u needed horses, one particular thing about horse is its origin. It seems Horses have originated on Grasslands.

It we look at the "Hoff" of a horse, then we find that it is always in one piece very different from Buffalows, which is in two pieces. Animals who dwell in marshy/wet area usually have a split hoff, which is similar to that of Buffalow. If a horse has a single hoff and it resides in wet/marshy area it will skid and sink into that marshy area. This seems to suggest that horses trace their origin development to grassy plains rather than wetlands. People who were travelling from place to place owned their travel to horses.

I was looking into history of "Judaism" as a religion, it seems Judaism traces its origins from Bronze age.

Some points to consider:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Age

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronze_Age

Interestingly Bronze age existed in near east/ middle east around 3300 BC same time as civilizations of Harappan and Mohanjodaro existed, whereas Sumerian civilization has existed before 3300 BC i.e. around 5000 BC and maybe before.

Again "Dalal" can also mean a person who is doing trade while "Moving" because the concept of "Ghumman", indicates movement. These people could also have been settlers of early time, who were moving from place to place trading and settling down. This is not same as of "Baniyas" of today.

Is it possible that these people have connection to Sumerian civilization? A simple example of this is the family name "Basra", which is name of a city in Iraq. How old archelogical reminants exist in Basra seems to studied or excavated.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumer

Great religions like Christianity, Islam, Judaism who all trace their origins from middle east are very new if we compare the time period of "How long humans and their civilizations have existed on Earth"
