@ Prikshit,

Could you pls recall, if while throwing open the poll for voters. You had given the option to view who polled against, and who infavor?

Anil Sangwan may be right, i suspect it fishy too....:suspicion:
No, I didn't select that option. Was not aware that bogus thing may happen here. I guess we don't have an option to edit it later.

Rajpal ji please continue as you do always. Yeh sara rola rajniti aaali dhaage ka sa. Gine chune hain. A suggestion if you care: put those threads on moderation for everybody. Only 1 post per person allowed per day, except moderator. Jisne pasand na, woh nyaari dukaan khol le (I learnt it from Col Malik). Hope it helps.

Re bhai tere jisse 2-4 or aage to ho liya JL ka kalyan.

It's bogus voting.
I could see only couple of posts in favour of Dr Rajpal Singh Ji's moderatorship and 12 vote in favour, hard to digest.
Wooops!!

Not so easily Man. Our beloved friend is catching up swiftly from just 1 vote to 12 votes now. Whereas against has inched by just 1. But, its remarkable and worth appreciating that our friend has muscled up against any act of mutiny/sabotage.

Voters seems to be divided with a tough choice to make.

Yes: Those who've never been banned/moderated. Hence, they're happily enjoying being 'off the radar'...'off the hook". And in all likelihood, they have a sense of feel that they'll continue to enjoy this privilege under the able command of Dr. Saheb (by posting goody-goody here).

No: Those who've been moderated/banned without being warned (or given a chance), plus their friends who missed having them around.
Onlookers: Who haven't voted yet, but enjoying the show. They'll vote later....'go with the flow' types.

fer wo hi akele naye naye thread start kara karege. wo hi Post koi against me bhi na likhe kuch..are tu TeamViewer se connect ho k check kar liya kariye...:applause:

I voted for Dr Rajpal Singh to continue as moderator because last year during discussion on ancient history, I ended up on the opposite side of him during discussion and he did a good job at that time. At times, I got quite upset with his postings as well. Going back to that discussion, I must admit that at no time did he lower his arguments with me or admonish me. Even though I may have posted something in wrong tone. Those posts are still there in History thread. He is very knowledgeable and conducts himself well. I ended up learning from him and his arguments during that time. He did a very good job then, hence my vote for him as moderator.

I was 1st who voted for Rajpal ji. Now there are 14 members also. I just voted him because I never had problem with him.

Nothing Personal. I don't know about others. May be they're getting some problem with post. Can't comment on that matter because I don't know the reality of this matter. I know only that I never had any problem with posts.

I also voted for rajpal jangoo.he deleted my one post and that deserved to get deleted.it had some offencive words about muslims
i have no problem with rajpal jangoo as mod
bus unki post padhte waqt oxford ki dictionary sath me rakhti hai:sorrow:

Not at all .. Definitely not !

We don't want to see JL turning into Secular Land or Minority Forum.

Sure. Let mr Rajpal to continue as a moderator because no one is taking ownership. I have no interest in being a moderator. It was just an attempt to get rid of an authoritarian regime. Otherwise Mr Rajpal will never step down. He is enjoying and misusing power.[/SIZE=3]

I strongly recommend that Dr Rajpal to continue as a moderator. He is a scholar, he has written books, numerous research articles in peer reviewed international journals. I sure he would have been reviewer and in editorial board of reputed history journals. So he is well experienced at editing and reviewing. We should feel honored that he is doing this job for jatland. Therefore, I have voted in his favor.

Dear Dr. Rajpal Ji!

Let me congratulate you for not giving in to kind of pressor you facing from some of our very popular members!
I have been a moderator myself but didn't last more than two weeks!
One thing I can recall from that short experience is that we have no clear cut policies or guiding factors for a moderator to follow and function!
We have some broad guidelines that form the kind of code of conduct on this forum but does't necessarily guides you on day to day bases when viewing and rewiewing threads and posts!
That means, it all depends on the 'VIvek' of the moderator! That means it all depends on the way a moderator perceive and feels about the writings and conduct of various members!

This is an open forum and things needs to be discussed openly!
May I request to you educate members on the main criterion you follow for:

1) Moderating/ editing a post?
2)Moderating a member?
3) Putting a Temporary ban on a member?
4) Banning a member permanently!

I would request you to answer these by giving some examples!
Examples like, why Ravinderjeet was put on Moderation for three months?

Hope this would not be inconvenient for you to reply these questions!
I believe moderation needs to be transparent and questions needs to be answered!
This survey may help the admin to make up his mind but not this forum. For example, I have voted in your favour( I have actually voted for you) but my opinion may change!

Finally, Jatland is facing tough competition from FB and needs more liberal attitude! Posts may be deleted, edited only for vulgarity, abusive language only!
Here I would also request the members to respect the moderator for his age and background, which is our 'Tehjib'!

Cheers!

Yes Sir ji, Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Let me share my experience on this website. There is a very less tolerance here about expressing your opinion on some trivial issues country is facing. I initially expressed my opinion on Kashmir Issue and moderator sahib did not like my opinion and gave me the infraction. In India you allow separatist leaders to hold conferences. In India, reputed journalist also raise the same questions around Kashmir issue. There is no ban on expressing opinion there. How come this website is so restricted where there is no tolerance for opposing views.

After first infraction, I got second infraction on condemning moderator sahib action on deleting my views and moving my thread without my consent. Again my post did not have anything offensive or a personal remark or off topic. While condemning for such action, I did not use any offensive language. Moderator sahib does not like any criticism whatsoever. And he gave me straight second infraction. I did not know how this website operates and moderator sahib put on moderation list after that.

Now on day to day basis, I post my views on different topics. While some of them don't get published and rest of them get published in a day or two. For those which don't get published, I don't get any justification whatsoever so that I may improve myself if I am doing something wrong. No feedback whatsoever is provided to me. The another grief I have is , I can't edit my post after submitting them. After submitting my post, I get a simple confirmation message that your post will be reviewed by a moderator.

Once post appears on the site after 1-2 days, I cannot edit my post if it has some errors. Double whammy. I don't know whether my post will be published in a day or two. By the time my post get published, my post becomes irrelevant to the thread as discussion moved on. I can't be part of normal discussion here. Such type of daily harassment is a norm here. Also at times, I have found unnecessary interference from moderator. Moderator moves your thread to somewhere and then cross question on well understood words. Now one can imagine in what direction this website is heading to. I haven't come across a single social website where you will find this type of interfere and restriction on posting views. Just insane!

I think it is wrong to give undue importance to an humble member of the site like me to give so much valuable space on one of the proudest sites of the community which is functioning in a democratic manner and serving as home away from home for the Jats spread around the globe.

I thank all the participants in the discussion whether for or against moderator and appeal all of you to come forward with your valuable participation on relevant forums/sub-furms/threads to further enrich the contents of our beloved jatland.com with open minds.

Friend,

Kindly permit me to say that I have no hesitation in sharing with friends some of my random thoughts on the issues raised during the course of last few days' discussion on this thread. First I take up 4 points raised by you, of course, to give example of individual cases would not be in the interest of either of the sides involved. But after one goes carefully through what has been scribed below, one would be able to avoid falling prey to pitfalls being discussed:

1. The editing/moderation is done on the site on violation of agreement signed between the members and the site.

Members can read the same by visiting: http://www.jatland.com/forums/showthread.php?21490-Member-Agreement-PLEASE-READ

Points 2. 3 and 4.

Editor has no power to put a member on ban of any type whether temporary or permanent. It is done by a team of several members at the highest level of administration who control the functioning of the site. Even the award of infraction to any one is not sole right enjoyed by the editor; it is reviewed, approved or unapproved on merit of each case by the higher body.

Lastly, I take the opportunity to share on the basis of my experience during the course of a few years association with the Jatland.Com as member and for a few moths as editor that most democratic, transparent method is adopted to safe-guard its members individual rights of free expression of their opinions to the extent that they do not impinge upon rights of other fellow members.

Full transparency is adopted in dealing with each case of violation of the norms either reported by the concerned members or brought to notice of the editors/administrators.

First the member is advised to acquaint himself of the guidelines for members and requested to follow them. On continued violation a member is initially awarded infraction for a limited time and informed for the reason of doing so followed by advice/warning to behave in his future discussion.

If violation continues unabated, the warnings/pieces of advice to follow the rules continues till the time the concerned member ends in inviting temporary ban in the form of putting oneself on 'moderation'.

Those members who are put on 'moderation' or are banned given every opportunity to improve and are informed about the next action of the decision makers before hand.

What more transparency is required when individual is given information through personal messages at every step as and when he acts contrary to accepted norms.

To know what invites ban on a member, kindly log :

http://www.jatland.com/forums/showt...age-WILL-GET-YOU-BANNED!!&p=194645#post194645

Another thread to be read by the members to enlighten themselves is :

http://www.jatland.com/forums/showthread.php?28170-Civilized-discussion-guidelines-at-JATland-!!!

If some of the doubts in the minds of the members about the functioning of site on non-democratic lines or non transparent manner or on the whims and fancies of 'Moderator'/'Administrators etc. are removed by this post sooner than later, I think the purpose of this post as well as the thread will be more than achieved.

Thanks and regards

Friend,

The site has 21,384 members and out of them just 3 are on moderation list including your goodself.

Instead of alleging me or the site management in general and myself in particular, kindly introspect and find out the real reasons, amend and enjoy good participation.

None would interfere with your posts if you do so, it is my pious hope.

Thanks and best wishes.
